- This is my review of the 2000 3rd gen 4Runner Limited, as well as my 2001 Tacoma SR5. They are very very similar vehicles but have many differences that most are unaware of! Hopefully this will help you decide.

Always wanted a video like this! Thanks for putting it together. I've got an 2002 limited with 260k. I built drawers and a bed in the back and have camped about 300 nights in there. I'm 6'6'' and I'm able to make it work, but it definitely wasn't designed for me. haha. I put a packasport on the top for pop-up canopy and camp chairs/golf clubs etc. I don't have much mechanical skills, but if you have any questions regarding any quirks, feel free to ask. I've navigated quite a few moments of uncertainty within the last 4 years since I bought it. Cheers and have fun!
A few other things I've noticed: The 3rd gen 4runner has a one piece rear driveshaft, not a 2 piece like the Tacoma. The 4runner has a crotch vent under the steering wheel for HVAC, the Taco doesn't! Also note that this 4runner has more random buttons because of the auto transmission, like ECT and O/D. The manuals would've only had the clutch start assist button.
Can’t wait to see the new build
Wow that 4runner is mint that’s for sure a $10k+ 3rd gen or even more with such low miles
I recently bought the exact same model a 00 limited with rear locker but in black, it has 233k miles and I got it for $3500 which was a steal. If u were to keep that 4runner stock and garaged for the next 30 years it will probably surpass it’s original price of $35k which is about $65k on todays worth. Also 4runners are built in Japan which is why their quality seems to be better than the Tacoma, these 4runners were built alongside land cruisers and mk4 supras and the original Lexus models
I definitely plan to build this thing but will try to keep it as clean as possible!!
Great video! I never understood why the Tacomas held their value so much better because unless you have a specific purpose for a truck, the 4Runners are such a better value and you get so much more for your money. Cheers.
Interesting, I didn’t know they offered rear and center locker on these. Neat!
The 4 door tacomas have a rear cup holder that slides out of the bottom of the seat
Thanks for the info!
@@sheastephens562 thanks for the video. I drove by this Tacoma the day I bought my 4 door
There's pre-drilled wholes on your 4Runner for a second handle on the driver side. Another thing to keep in mind is that the climate control on the Limiteds is not the greatest, and you will eventually have to repair it.
tha ks for the info! yes I honestly would rather the one in the tacoma.
Wrong they both have horrible frames I own one and I needed the middle section re done because of salt only if your in Cali you won’t experience rust
😂 should of looked at the frame before you bought it. And if you did its your fault for not keeping up on maintenance. Everything rusts if you dont wash and coat it. I have a perfect frame and im in Washington.
The 4runner never had frame recalls, the Tacoma had numerous. Looks like your 4Runner was unlucky. Always check down under before you buy!
