Don, you are a treasure of knowledge and insights. I had so many questions about my techniques, my application, and which products were interacting differently with others. Thank you so much for sharing your skills, knowledge, and heart with us. Best wishes!
Thank you so much bro. I kinda overshare during my DC23 blogging days, and now my channel is now becoming my new avenue to share all my experiences, good and bad with this hobby. Super happy you find the new voice over format more informative. 💙🎨🎨🎨
I like to do a "rust" base layer for chipping Medium, but I can see the value in using a metallic base for "fresh battle damage" My receipt of chipping fluid is 3 drops VallejoAirbush flow improver to 7 drops chipping Medium, which will give me enough to cover a AFV model. I also prefer 3 coats of chipping fluid as I have found better & easier results in conjunction with 3 coats of Vallejo Model Air.
Fantastic video for explaining the do's & don't's with the chipping medium, especially which lines of Vallejo paints it does & doesnt work well with. Thanks from New Zealand!
Great video Don ! I've already used the chipping medium from Vallejo but had a few problems manipulating the piece after finished. I should have applied the varnish in the end... Going to paint the Gipsy Danger from Pacific Rim now and for sure I'm not going to make the same mistake ! Thanks for the tip ! Keep up the good work !
You don’t need to take any more steps than you normally would with regular paints in your airbrush. Its water based, so you can even just clean your airbrush out with just water if you wanted to.
Great video! Very informative and helped me a lot, as I didn't quite understand how to use the chipping medium. I just have a question, does chipping medium work with other paint brands? Such as tamiya acrylics?
Thanks for the helpful video, I'm thinking about using chipping medium for the first time so this was very educational for me. Can I ask what is you thinning sauce? Is that another name for airbrush thinner or is it something special?
So what exactly are you using to thin the chipping medium here? I tried using the Mr Color thinner I usually use for my tamiya paints and the medium clumped up into a ball and gummed up my airbrush. Thanks.

A quick question if I can ask. What do you clean your airbrush with after using the chipping fluid ? I do not want to mess up my airbrush !

@@glowworm3345 Thank you for the reply. I just did not want to mess up my airbrush ! Cheers.

I just have a question, does chipping medium work with other paint brands? Such as tamiya acrylics?
Glad you found the video helpful. Yes the chipping medium will work with Tamiya acrylics. ☺️
Thanks for the helpful video, I'm thinking about using chipping medium for the first time so this was very educational for me. Can I ask what is you thinning sauce? Is that another name for airbrush thinner or is it something special?
Welcome! Oh the thinning sauce is 3 parts airbrush thinner and 1 part airbrush flow improver. Cheers! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Thinning sauce? That's what I sound like at the hobby store trying to explain what I'm looking for.
😅🎨🎨🎨
So what exactly are you using to thin the chipping medium here? I tried using the Mr Color thinner I usually use for my tamiya paints and the medium clumped up into a ball and gummed up my airbrush. Thanks.
My thinning sauce sir. Or just Vallejo airbrush thinner. Mr. Color is not compatible with Vallejo paints sir. ☺️
Hi Don.. is there a way to achieve 2 layer chipping with this method?
Yes, you just need to varnish and let cure in between chipping. ☺️
@@DonSuratos thank you Don for the tip! will try 2 layer chipping with this method
I tried it last year, no video though. But it works fine. Just let the varnish cure for 24 hours to be safe. Goodluck! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
How do you thin the chipping medium ?
Similar to thinning Vallejo varnishes sir. 1:1. 😊
@@DonSuratos ok but with what ? Valejo paint thinner ? My mix stays verry think with 1.1
Don love it lol you called in thinning sauce...
Hahahaha! Thanks for watching bro! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
