This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy! - Hry
My GPU hates me almost as much as my CPU.

Melting builds character
What are your specs?
Although, less speed of calculating can make for good CPU usage, and then you replay using all of GPU
You can thank Blizzard for that. They does not even try to optimize their game
That Photon Cannon micro though, not even herO or MaxPax can do it.
Best unit in the game 😂
@@Termynater nice or has could probably do it
Absolutely sublime, you think the Terrans will try to mimic this with bunker micro? I think it could be quite effective.
when you said "photon cannon micro" I thought of it being microing where it shoots.. not microing HOW IT MOVES
Right
The moving Photon Cannons were unexpected and really fun
wrgg
Hacks! That last battle between Banshee and Cannons should have been a draw! They didn't count the last shot of the cannon!
its always been, if a unit is destroyed so their shot ... its bullshit ^^
At least there are no stakes, so it's not a big deal if the referee incorrectly reports the outcome
If you put banshee in the invisibility the battle would played out just like this
@@JustAnOrdinaryDemon cannons are detectors
@@dayuwu2992 not if they're dead
That Archon's the luckiest unit in months.
energy never dies, but it almost dies
ENERGY NEVER DIES
Followed closely by that banshee. Whew.
wrrr
Moving photon cannons? Every Terran and Zerg player's nightmare.
Ah yes, the movable photon cannons are my favorite unit in this game (I use them all the time)
Tyra did one involving a moving PF which was even funnier
I mean dragoons are essentially moving photon cannons
@@anvietanh6723 incidently, that video was the introduction of the moving photon cannon into the daily brawl unit lineup.
@@matthewshuck5190 no way which one is that 😂
@@Termynater You will have to look, sorry its been a few months. One day was basically buildings vs units. The sliding PF was just comedy
That bonus round was hilarious! I hope there's more in the future! :)
moving Khaydarin monoliths + photon cannons vs some absurd air army would be hilarious
*Sees Photon cannons moving*
Gotta lay down with the shrooms for now.
That last fight was a tie. I want a rematch xD Also the last Archon with 1 hp was probably sweating bricks. BW Archons were so much scarier imho. Butt naked aliens in raging energy balls that wiped everything.
BW archons also attacked around 30% faster. Their attack speed in SC2 was slowed down to make up for the better pathing and damage bonus to Biological.
SC:BW Archons were comparably more fragile, because Psi Shields took full damage from both Explosive and Concussive damage types, so units like Hydralisks just melted them down; meanwhile, SC2 Archons aren't affected by bonus damage vs. Light or vs. Armored. Still, I agree that SC:BW Archons felt a lot stronger than they do in SC2.
@@Taznak I'd forgotten about that, true. Protoss shields were incredibly weak in SC1/BW because they always took full damage from all sources, and archons were all shields. Because of the way the damage systems were completely reworked in SC2 archons lost that particular weakness and became tanky, another reason for their DPS nerf.
I liked the tank one, it felt like a real zerg versus terran scenario. The terran units are super tough and effective, but there are JUST SO MANY ZERG!!!!!! Even if its not cost efficient, it doesnt matter, because in the end they wear you down.
I think it’s better to move all the hydralisk near the tanks then attack the tanks. The tanks will be doing splash damage against itself.
on no planet does having to win with nearly 10x the resources "not matter"
@@spudastic When its an entire sector of space so you have that level of resources advantage to burn and can still call it a victory. As an example. Say I control the united federation of all of earth but kentucky. It doesnt matter if it costs me 10x as much in troops and material goods to take over that last bastion because once its done there is nobody left to fight me and I have such a large numbers advantage that its a drop in the bucket. So my seven billion troops lost 1 million versus their 100k, so what? I still have 6.99 billion troops remaining and no more enemies left alive. I win.
Thats what the zerg are. An immensely terrifying wave of biological weaponry that consumes everything to reproduce themselves endlessly. Throwing away their lives for victory because only the queen of blades/overmind matters. Yes between near equal opponents a 10-1 loss ratio would be a dramatic loss strategically, but they arent roughly equal opponents with roughly equal resources in the lore.
@@spudastic Imperial Guard: You rang?
the photon cannons marching into battle was hilarious for no reason at all. LOL
"I'm the MVP of that entire group of Banshees, go me!"
"You were also the only survivor."
"Listen let's not get bogged down in petty details."
Giving a photon cannon move speed would be so amazing incorporating something like this in game like the ability to relocate/warp in near a nexus.
The Photon Cannons really got me. lol
1st fight reminds me of how me and my brother as young teens used to play SC1. I loved to turtle up with siege tanks, he loved to spam stupid amounts of hydralisks ( tho tbh, hydras were decent against preety much everything in SC1)
I guess it’s a contest of which runs out first: your tanks or his 84-base worth of resources.
@@caelestigladii Usualy first to run out was time we bought for playing in Internet Cafe :D.
Kinda the reason why we later switched to play mostly UMS maps :D.
These were some of the best rounds so far!
You should do the marine/marauders one again, but switch their places, the difference is gonna be night and day
200 3/3 siege tanks vs Dehaka please.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Ain't nothing like the totally badass kickass animation for when Planetary Fortress lands
I wonder if it's actually more fair for buildings to have these fights 3/3. Most don't really get armor upgrades, so they go in with that inherit disadvantage. But they're also inherently more cost-effective...
They did have shield upgrades and still almost won by 1 shot. Armor and attack upgrades would have given them a decisive victory.
Well, that's a new take on the cannon rush.
Got all correct predictions for the first time since watching these brawls!!! :D
How about a round where there is one of teach unit type from each faction (not counting heroes) and we can see how well the AI performs with one of every unit in a battle.
Can you do ambush battles? A large ling force vs a smaller mixed army, then a smaller ling force that unburrows around the mixed force? It would be interesting to see the difference, and you have already done battles where one force is surrounded.
Moving cannons? Next how about bunkers with battlecruisers in it?
I have been watching for like a year and this is the first one i 4/4
proud of myself
Karax, no! you're high on solarite and now the photon cannons are moving!
Unit positioning is important though. If the archons would have been in front of the stalkers the fight wouldn't have even been close, the archons had to go around the stalkers. It's the same with the marines, they should have been in the rear so the concussive shells from the marauders could slow the zerglings down. The roaches were in the correct spot, behind the zerglings.
That ultra vs archons was a nailbiter.
Would like to see some battles where the two types of units are mixed together (for example marine-marauder).
Also, everybody gangsta 'till the cannon starts walking.
Might be interesting to see the same troops on both sides but who comes first reversed.
Or the same fight but with the positions swapped. Would the marine-marauder have had a chance if swapped?
Photo Canon micro was awesome 😎
Commenting for algorithm! Nice work!
You should be able to build and launch photon cannons built on top of interceptors!
Diden't expect i would hear that bonus obective
When can photon cannon move?
Those Photon Cannons are Dragoons in disguise
In the Roach/Ling, do the zerg win harder if you put the Marauders in front?
WOWW that last one was insane
LOL those stalkers at 3rd battle the end were shooting at the Archons!!!! @Tya??????
You should put spine crawler legs underneath the photon cannon so that makes more sense
I have less than 1 gig of data to last me 10 days and I'm spending it on you. Love your content
What does the number in red and blue represent?
That was pretty intense
I have to admit i was a little suprised i got 4/4 on this though the tanks had me going by the mid point i was full on shouting "WILL THEY GO ALL THE WAY?!?!?"
I only went 3/4 - I was not informed the stalkers were going to be blink microing....
Could you test this one ?
How many Ultralisk to destroy 100 Shock Division ( being surround by Ultralisk ) ?
That will be a lot of Ultras, even with surrounding. After all 3rd rank Shock Division not only have bigger range of splash damage, but they also stun units who get shot
@@MsUndertaker99 Regular ultras should be immune to the stun due to frenzy; same reason they're immune to fungal slow, yoink, and mind control effects.
@@Matt-ln7lb oh, i forgot about that. But still, they deal more damage and have bigger splash radius than regular siege tanks
now i`m awaitin movin photon cannons in Direct Strike !
Ive seen that photon cannon rush strat. Couldve sworn Has has done it.
That last Ban-she though. :)
4/4
And I realllly debated back and forth on the last one. Not surprised!
GG
First time I've guessed 100%! That last one was close
The cannons fly low - I think there is going to be rain.
Can we see some more broodwar units?
I would like to know exactly how many zerglings have died over the course of all StarCraft matches lol
Tya, try moving bunkers vs moving photon cannons
Something is fishy about that photo cannons... What's next, marines with abduct!?
Siege tanks blasting 900 hydralisks out of 1k is just beyond satisfying. W to the tanks for me.
💀
The last shot of the cannon has disappeared, wtf?!
Can add medics to these fights? I think you still haven't used them yet
ah yes my favourite unit to micro, the photon cannon
The answer is YES. This time, the bigger armies all came out on top.
Every terran player ever "we have no counter to hydras, they are too cost effective" lol....
4/4 haven’t guessed that in awhile
Since when can photon cannons move?
Answer: yes, they paid dearly with their lives.
Another shoutout to this game's ragdolls
Whats this mode its amazing
wow hydra buff OP
Micro the stalkers and not the mutas? Seems fair.
BONUS OBJECTIVE LOCATED
bruuuu you did marines and mauraders soopo dirty, its Mauraders on front and Marines on BACK
We need a battle of star ports squashing creep tumors
Canon rush are way différent that in my memory
Why did the banshees not go for the Pylon? XD
I wish we had moving photon cannons
Without the range upgrade those hydra's die so fast.
stalker/archon was painful to watch, why weren't archons front line?
Put the Marauders in front of the Marines next time.
It shows that th Zerg units are the least cost efficient ones.
Can I have Bunker filled with infantry showcase?
Wow... When is the tank getting a buff?
Considering they took out roughly 6.5x their worth in minerals and 4x their worth in gas, hopefully... never?
It's raining hydras
Nice 4/4 today
For those wondering, the answer is yes, 1000 Hydras can take 100 Siege Tanks.
Now can 925 Hydras take on 1000 Siege Tanks? Lol
@@ryapowa no they cant
@@FeeDBacKMKII Probably not, it's just speculative though. The Siege Tanks killed 903 of 1000 Hydras, so the real question I'm asking is where's the break-even point?
@@ryapowa just moving the last line of siege tanks onto the flanks of the formation would change the outcome already.
@@snagsTS This is true
Well, they did get 903!
Marauder should have been in the Frontline rather than Marines
The Stalkers should have fired earlier.
0/4 ! So proud of me
WoL Mothership and 50 Archones vs
On the first one.... how is that even fair for the tanks???
Wait, cannons can talk? Wtf
Terran is too weak! This time was easy to guess who is going to win!
xD 4/4 ... oh yeah
wtf why are the stalkers infront of the archions, archons are tanks
3/4
Not a good day to be Terran!
not even close
Hail Hydra!
2/4
I mean 8 times the resources in hydras better beat tanks
