my question is: what is going to happen to existing Etherium 1.0? is it going to be seperate altcoin such as Etherium Classic? Or Etherium 1.0 will be upgraded to Etherium 2.0?
As far as I understand eth 2.0 will probably consist of 64 shards (like 64 single block chains) governed by the beaconchain which is the first shard so that every node does not have to validate the whole of ETH2 Blockchain making it 100-1000x faster. The plan so far is to let ETH1 and ETH2 exist next to each-other until everything is running safely. Then implement or upgrade ETH1 in a shard of ETH2 like shard0 or shard65. A different solution would be to put ETH1 in all Shards because ETH1 will probably not takeup 1 full shard space wise but that sounds more complicated and unnecessary to me.

Joe should differentiate something which has value generally from something which has value to a network because it's fundamental. It really doesn't help to throw out a term like "value" without specifying exactly what makes that appropriate for a centralized or decentralized application. Especially since Ethereum is about such applications.

How can anyone listen to this without feeling physically sick? Joe talking about setting up a industry body to "Sheppard" the industry just means he wants to build a new crypto regulator that he controls. These people seriously want "web3" to be built purely on eth. It's disgusting.

Joe: "the center of the system" - do you mean the central piece in a deCENTRALized system? they move money from one friend to another through the foundation, and expect to pay 500 USD for a job that would cut the gas price of every transaction in half(thus giving a net profit of millions daily to the network). Check Github issues on eth, if you don't believe me. You both need to go :)

@@NeilSearle if we knew the answer we would nit need to ask the question. An answer would satisfy the expected response to asking a question. Avoiding the question could be interpreted negatively.
@@jcjensenllc the question has an implied bias as in one of the potential outcomes would be negative to the questioner. I simply asked which outcome they were going for. Your statement 'Not answering the question could be interpreted negatively' also has an implied bias... My understanding is that there are people on both sides of the fence for ProgPoW, there is no general case negative. Perhaps no answer at this time is to avoid stirring up conflict before any decision is made or before it is relevant.

@Florian Steiner Same. I think it could play out like windows vs. microsoft. Cardano build on Haskell which has high throughput. Ethereum builds on GO which has low latency. So each platform is kind of unique in certain ways. You don't need to change the wheels of a driving car. Ethereum is going to build a big truck and they will drive the old car in the new truck like in knight rider.
