I might be reading the site wrong but it looks like it’s $45 on top of the key blank for them to cut it by photo. I have the X tool D8 that I can program it but just having trouble finding a place to cut our automotive key without selling me the key and program it. I was gonna order a couple of keys until I saw it was $45 a key to cut it by photo but maybe I’m just not smart enough to understand their site
How can I contact you?
Hi scotty how much do you charge to check a car out or to take a look? For advice etc
What a surprise! A company with a product that works for a good price and makes your life easier. That’s a recipe for success right there.
We love helping people save money making a spare key!
@@TomsKeyCompany you have a new customer. You guys are geniuses!!
kudos to innovative Tom's keys for a modern day solution!
I do not need a new car key, but when I do, I will be sure to keep your advice in mind.
A company doing it right for the first time in a while
I don't even have car but I watch every video of yours!
Me too!!
Same here
With this key you'll have any car ;)
I actually used Tom's keys 2 months ago when I bought a used 2011 toyota corolla (I bought a Toyota per Scott Kilmer suggestion of course). Their first programmer did not work but the second generation programmer they sent did work. It was pretty painless and I was very happy with their service. I ended up getting a remote key and had a local key guy cut the key to the right fit. The programmer basically programs the immobilizer. I do highly recommend Tom's keys!
Glad we could help you!
@@TomsKeyCompany question. I have a precut key from dealer but I did not want them to program ($300 99 Toyota!!). Could you still send the box to copy my original?
Did you pay to borrow the machine plus the deposit of 80 dollars or was it a full refind after sending it back?
@@2mo2time if I remember correctly I paid to borrow the machine and paid the deposit. The deposit was later returned back to me when I sent back the machine.
When I listen to Scotty explain how to solve a problem on a "modern" car....it makes me appreciate even more....my OLD clunker!!
Old is Gold my man!! Fools who are easily lured by shiny things will never understand!
@@RothBeyondTheGrave I guess I like "modern" conveniences too! Lol! ... but I mean modern conveniences that have a practical application. I don't need a back up camera with a dirty lense that I need to clean everytime I drive. I am capable of staying my own lane and can maintain a safe distance....so don't need 360 degree lane sensors or automatic braking. I don't buy vehicles that I can't parallel park...so don't need one that parks itself. I do like a powered, remote adjustable passenger side mirror as I use my mirrors alot. Cruise control and intermittent wipers. I can get along without heated and air conditioned seats!
@@northdakotaham1752 I couldn't agree more! I can't say an exact year, but perhaps early 2000's is when we truly reached the peak of tech in cars that is A. Actually necessary, & B. Actually serves a proper function to help you without being 100% excessive.
Like diagnosing using OBD II, it's great! It's just a tool though, & only points you in the direction...you still have to know what's what!
Even with my backup camera, I still turn around & use my mirrors hahah....might glance at the camera for the final adjustment, & that's it! But like you said, if it goes out thank God I still have a functioning neck that allows my head to turn! 😂
This is a really good company to know of. The dealership wanted to charge me over $500 for my 2019 RAV4 (push to start). Some other dude wanted $480. Luckily I found another person who did a great and quick job for about $260.
Don’t go pay a dealership $500 of your hard earned money. I hope this company works out for you or Look around.
Another thing that I learned was that if it's an older car the technology becomes way cheaper because the dealerships sell their equipment to locksmiths and then they really discount the service
That's why they're called stealerships.
Perfect explanation of Tom's Keys, Scotty! I've used Tom's several times. They are great!!
Scotty holds and turns the car wisdom keys..thank you
Scotty your photo inclusions are simply hilarious!!!! It took me awhile to figure out they weren't advertisements.
Yes who ever does his video edits has it spot on
Love you Scotty. You're my man. You have also helped me prove what I already knew. That my mechanics are pretty honest people 👍
Thank you Scotty for all your hard work on this.
AWESOME VIDEO SCOTTY!!! THANK YOU!!
This is great! I was in a Volvo waiting room recently and all 4 people in there with me were there to have keys programmed! Mine were only $200 each, but theirs were over $400 each! TomsKey would have saved the day.
Saves big money. Great content Scotty.
Awesome piece of kit, about time somethings like this turned up.
Time to take some pictures of some old car keys

Thank You for another great video! 🌞
A few years ago I was in Canada for a visit and my wife sent a picture of my hummer key from mexico and a picture of my ownership and a GM dealership made me a key and it worked fine
Scotty is a legend with the little picture popups 😂🍑
Thank you for the video
Thank Scotty!! I've been hoping I could find a work around having to go to dealership to get an extra key
Good to have you back in the northeast!
Convenient for sure!
This guys video's are great!
That's pretty cool. Might do that
Great Scott-y!!!
Hey Scotty I just Placed an order through to Toms Key Company. I was looking Locally for a key service. The Companies in my Town don't know ANYTHING about making keys. Looking forward to This.
Great Video :)
Well Tom's Key just hit the jackpot. Its nice when a product works as advertised.
Wonderful idea
The Scott-man comes through again.
Love you scotty!!!!
You're crackin me up Scotty !!!
Scotty rules!!!!💯👍
Thank you.
This seems like a great service. Places like Home Depot can also do this for you because they usually have the key transponder cloning device but they're still not cheap. I bought transponders and keys from ebay and put them together myself before and it worked fine; Mine was a key folded into key fob design. I'm sure you can buy blanks with transponders built in too.
Didn't you just teach your car to accept the transponder? If so, then it does still seem like any shady actor at Tom's keys can steal you car because they could have a copy of the key they sent you (same cut, cloned transponder) and you taught your car to accept their new transponder. I'm not saying Tom's keys are shady, I just think it's a possibility.
If you had a key transponder reader of some type, or if you cloned the key transponder before you went through their process, it would be good to know if the transponder changed after you went through the process. If it changed, then the car reprogramed the transponder. If it didn't change, then the car learned to accept the new transponder.
Very nice !!
Scotty is my best Mechanics !
Interesting , Thank You
My method: Dig the chip out of your key and glue it to your console/steering area in a hidden location around where the key is inserted. Test your location first and make sure the chip reads from your new hidden location. Now keys will cost you $3-$5. (You will have pre-2000-ish vehicle theft exposure, if that is important to you. It isn’t important to me)
Hmm, if you can make an a removable insulated cover for it then you've effectively built a killswitch. Should be as simple as a small plastic container lined with heavy duty aluminum foil.
Did the same for my daughters 2000 Grand Prix after she kept losing her keys. Drilled an 1/8 in hole in the thumb turn, inserted, and then some black silicone. Easy and cheap keys.. 👍
BRILLIANT! :D ~Cindy! :)
The most stupid idea ever.... the point of having a chipped key and an anti theft is to prevent exactly what you are suggesting...
Your method will let any no briner to break your window stick a big screwdriver and steal your car!!!
@@yanivsosman chill your reply was dumb, it's was a good suggestion no need to like that, what if your low on money or do not care about the chip...there are millions of cars with no chip.....people
A couple of years ago I wanted to get a key with remote built in for my 2007 Subaru Forester. I found out that they don't make one for the Forester, but the one from the Outback would work. I searched the forums, and everyone said yes, it will work. Everyone wanted a fortune for one. I think around $100.00, but the dealer had one for $25 or $30 (strange!).
I went out to get it. The mechanic asked me what year my Outback was, and I told him it was a Forester. He got really serious, and said "This wont work in that car!" He did not want to sell it to me. I told him all I wanted him to do is cut it, and I would program it myself. A long story getting longer... it works great! Now I have a one key, not a fob, and a key to carry. That mechanic acted like he was selling Subaru top secrets, lol.
I've got the brass key chain like you. Got it in the Navy 20+ years ago
Scotty Kilmer you know what's funny, when I went to watch your video today they had a Toyota commercial on.
Toyota loves him
Jay the Florida pool pump motor bearing repair guy When Service Calls Longwood approved ! that was good info 👨🔧Scotty
Another feather in Scottys Toyota cap!!!
great review. I will remember Tom
Scotty always flexing his expensive machines
All good stuff.
Ebay's had this for a while. Use them for replacing key shells on my Lexus
I'm gonna have to give Tom's a try I need a new key for my 01 Expedition because my old key broke
Wow - Rich Rebuilds will be so proud his name was mentioned.
Realness: this service does work. I just programmed a spare for my mom a few minutes ago. It is not hard at all. The instructions are simple to follow. However, you MUST let the timers on every section of certain instructions to count down, otherwise you’ll have to start over again. Fortunately, it’s only like 10 steps to follow. Shouldn’t take more than 10 mins for certain cars.
Finally. An honest company. Jeez!
SCOTTY RIDES AGAIN❗❗😁
I personally did this for my 2020 Toyota Camry last month and it worked great, I highly recommend it…
How much did it cost you?
Rich rebuilds has a brown Tesla with an LS swap, it's pretty sick. It's matte finish brown with chrome honeycomb ish rims. I love it
Right on Tomskey
I wish you were here in Dallas, Texas.
I got a transponder key made for my Camry for $150 by a locksmith and didn't have to wait for it to show up in the mail...I'm happy with that😉
With all the EV vehicles out and coming out. When it's time for a repair. You need IT. More computer software then wrenching. But with all the software in theses vehicles, when one little thing brakes, multiple. Because of how so much is linked to the computer. The EV is basically a computer on wheels. Not really a great idea. Especially now. Mechanics use wrenches. Not computer software. Why bring theses vehicles out without the proper training to fix the car right? Stop pushing something if you don't do it right. At least Scotty knows what he's talking about. I trust Scotty. Don't you? Thank you Scotty. Some people out there should take a few hours and actually watch Scotty. They would see someone so right about life, cars, truth. Scotty is truly a legend. The best out there!
Awesome
Rich rebuilds is pretty cool, you should see the LS swapped tesla he already finished. dude has done a bunch of neat stuff.
Please do a collaboration video with Rich Rebuilds mentioned at the end of the episode. I think this would be CZcams gold
I don’t know if Scotty knows about the LS swap Tesla with twin turbo
Rich Rebuilds is great! His V8 Tesla (ICE-T) is a helluva build.
I have techstream, but this method will help with other carmakers.
3:50 AKA the shovel, if you like to party.
Hey Scotty! You need to get a nice Summer home near northern California so you west cost fans can come see you! Watch your videos everyday from Sacramento, CA.
I remember the XTL1 during my repo days. It would start ANY car regardless of the immobilizer. It could even set or disable alarms and open your garage door. That thing was lie $20k. We also had to carry an attache of master keys with us as well. In the wrong hands that same machine and key box could cause some serious theft.
That's legitimately terrifying
Step 1: Remove chip reader from ignition
Step 2: Cut open preprogrammed key and extract the chip
Step 3: Glue chip to chip reader. Do not reinstall chip reader. Secure under dash
Step 4: Make as many chipless keys as you want 😉
Step 5: Steal the car that was prepared from steps 1 thru 4 by hotwiring it 😋
@@gadflyofhumanity_6847 You are absolutely making it easier for your car to be stolen. However, car theft is not very common in my area. Alarm still works so long as you lock the car 😁
At the same time, don't tell anyone you actually did this to your car. Would be thieves aren't going to know that your car has a chip glued in place. Use this info at your own risk!
@@Okie93 you are lucky in my lifetime I've had five motorcycle stolen two trucks what else I'm trying to think oh a $5,000 paint sprayer but that didn't go very fast
@@arlenmargolin4868 People are awful. Big cities are the worst. Makes me glad I live rural. Round here, if you steal from the wrong guy, they are likely to shoot you, bury you, and never say another word about it. Keep that chip if you want. I'm not saying to disarm every car you own
I'm in Rhode Island... my wife's in Tennessee. Dream words every married man wishes were true!
Makes a great Country song too! 🤣
I have an 04 Element that I bought new and have yet to replace the battery to the remote
Has Scotty's Channel just become his way of getting companies to send him stuff that's actually worth getting?
At least he sounds like he is being honest about the products .
Like he said , if its crap , he will tell everyone it is .
I have a John Deere too Scotty. The thing is after it sat all winter the first time starting it really difficult. After that it is back to normal unless I commit the sin of running the fuel tank dry (it is easier than you think)
This is great news
If companies have a good product, they have nothing to fear from have Scotty test it.
@1:13 " Now it won't start the car". Second later you hear car start in the background as scene changes. Hahah😆
I had to look at the stuff on the back? Twice is nice!
Will Rich Rebuilds mention being mentioned on Scotty's channel :-)
I live in Rhode Island Scotty! Would love to meet you and show my Chevy Silverado or a Toyota Sienna Van.
thats a good setup for people out in the sticks who don't have a good mobile car locksmith who makes house calls
What about for automatic starting cars and key fobs? Do they make those too
2:04 The back lol
Scotty, I thank you for finally telling the world that I'm not full of crap. 03:07
In Brooklyn in the early 2000’s they would steal early 90’s Camry’s like crazy. They would shave the keys down and they would work on multiple years like a master key. I am sure they are more sophisticated now.
Scotty, How much did one programed key cost?
Nice can I make a key for Toyota tundra 2019
Can u still use the old key once u program the new key and do u use the same tool they send u to program the new key, to program the the door lock on the key fob or do they send a different tool for that?
Demolition ranch It's taking a 70 Cuda and putting a 12 valve Cummings in it with a 4x4 one ton suspension
Is it safe to buy a used wheel & tire assembly used on eBay? The shop wants $800 for a replacement, but I found it on eBay for only $200.00. It's for a BMW 2007 328xi.
I looked there ended up going to a local hardware store that had the computer to to it.wasn’t to bad on price either!
That's one reason I like gm u can re program the key without the equipment
Hello
Please make a video about tm ogle fuel saving system in 1970

Its realy work or not
Thank you❤
That key looks just like the one in the key fob for the keyless remote (push to start)
So Scotty. What's the net cost of this compared to getting a key at the dealer or from a locksmith?
