- This is the video brochure of the 1972 Cadillac lineup.
For those new to the channel, the Video Brochure series differs from the Car Tales series in that it features a single brochure of an automaker which I have cleaned up and put to music & visual references related to the era.
There is no commentary as it is simply intended to be a visual & audial trip down memory lane with lots of little references here and there. These are best enjoyed with your favorite beverage of choice. :)
And, as this is a video featuring the "The Standard of The World"... please do expect some rather over the top pomp & circumstance. It's what I do, given the chance.
Hopefully, what you see tells a fun and compelling story. Please like & subscribe and consider becoming a member of the channel. Much more to come.

Another work of art from Tofer. Thanks as always. ❤
Back when owning a CADILLAC meant something!!!
I remember as a kid how beautiful these cars were
Back in the summer of 2019, I was given the opportunity to sit in a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado. It was the single most comfortable automobile I'd ever had the pleasure to be in. Everything about it felt like quality and comfort. The power from the engine was smooth and, while not fast, you knew you were in an impressive automobile. While Cadillac's reputation would seriously begin to fade by the end of the decade, and countless mistakes in the 80s would leave the brand a mere shadow of what it had once been, Cadillacs will always be the peak of American luxury for me. Lincolns are wonderful and so are Imperials, but nothing says "I've made it" quite like a classic Cadillac. My dream is to someday sit behind the wheel of another '72 Eldorado, a '68 Deville, or even a '59- that I can call my own. These cars are unlike anything made today. I'm so glad that they're honestly appreciated by people all around the world, and not just 'ha ha look another slow, gas-guzzling land yacht that can't go around corners." You're right, all that's true- but they're also the most comfortable ride you'll ever experience, and everybody notices when you're behind the wheel of a car that wears the crest of Cadillac.
My late uncle Steve had a 1972 Sedan DeVille.
Your videos are so well done and professional. I really enjoy your channel
wonderful tribute to Cadillac ..... this is an America's Icon car....known all over the world....my Big brother bought a 72 Coupe Deville brand new in 72....she was triple black and flat out awesome !.... I was 18 and he let me drive her..... 72 had a nice sleek design ...updated from 71 model....Im a Caddy guy...ive owned many Cats....drive 2015 XTS now
interesting that the way they shot the photos in the brouchure were designed to make the cars appear even larger than they were in real life. This was the last hurrah for the bigger is better automotive mentality and the downsizing was already on the drawing boards when these 1972 models hit the showrooms.
Thanks for watching! Please like & subscribe if you enjoyed and consider becoming a member.
If my kids were still really little this would calm them down there is something relaxing about this video great content, beautiful old cars
Subbed by accident stayed on purpouse. Top work as usual. Thanks.....
Who'd of thunk it...a Cadillac video seguaying into Larry Welk & gang getting their 70s groove on...😂
They certainly don't make em like that anymore, there are a couple of very nice examples of El Dorado convertibles in my town, they are exquisite.
Tofer

Cadillac brougham 🥇🏅🎖🥇💎💎
Amazing. Very tastefully and inspiring. Great presentation!!
Thanks for sharing this moments and Greetings from Austria!! 🇦🇹👍👍👍😎
Now this will be interesting
Definitely captures Cadillac in its 70s hayday. Only wish they could do the same now with hips of luxury and character, I don't think they know where they are heading more of a euro lux not American lux as it was know.
Ah Yes! At age 17 my fathers rich uncle was selling his Florida based 1973 Fleetwood Brougham with 50K in 1977. I didn’t think I would be able to afford this Beautiful Example with Butter soft brown Leather interior and cream color Vinyl roof with the Extended Chrome extention on the Giant Hood and that Chrome Flying Goddess just topped the looks of this beautiful Metalic Brown work of art. When It was offered to me at $1700 I had to have it. I knew it cost over $10K new. I had $1500 from working full time and I was able to get a loan for $500 to help with the rest. I was stil in High School and all the teachers thought my parents spoiled me rotten. One even called my parents to tell them how this was not good for me. My Mother shouted and yelled back and explained I had been working since age 14 after school and weekends. But still the school started disrespecting me but the kids loved the car. 8 of us driving arounf after school and the memories I still have listening to all the 8 track tapes I bought. I put a P.A. system behind the massive grill and used a CB Radio Mic. to project my voice to by standers or fellow motorist. It was Good to be KING. I spent back then $70 a week in Gas! $300 a month! After a year I decided I would afford a new car for what I was spending in gas alone. And the 80’s was no time to buy a car as everything was a giant experiment. I am a CAR GUY as far back as I can remember! My Mom use to say I would watch the cars go by at age 2 and call the names if it was a car or truck. My grandfather (mom’s dad) also a car nut who had to trade to try another style car every 6 months or so. I guess I inherited his gene’s. I studied hub caps, makes, models, years, body styles. My Parents never bought me any type of car magazine or book and it wasn’t until I much older that I discovered such material. Loved Old Car books. Always had a thing for older Big well optioned cars but I love every type of car Prior to 1980. After 1980 I still liked cars but there are K Cars and Escorts that just don’t do it for me.
I had a similar experience. In 1978 when I turned 16 I got my grandfather's 1970 Buick Electra to drive. Not quite as big as your Cadillac, but still a rather inappropriate lad yacht for a teenager but I loved it. About a week of seeing the " FASTEN SEAT BELTS "printed above the steering column I decided to try to look mature and buckled up both the lap and shoulder belts, lit a Winston 100s and cruised around. I was amazed at how much better the car drove and handled with the belts buckled not to mention that an inexperienced driver in a car that size needed to wear the seat belts. I pretty quickly was in the habit of wearing the belts. About 5 years later a drunk driver in a Chevrolet suburban hit me head on. Because of the size of the car and the fact that I was wearing both the lap and shoulder belts in the collision I walked away with only bruises from the belts which was far better than the unbelted other driver who had massive head and chest injuries from the steering wheel and the dash. 44 years later, when I get in a vehicle, I turn the ignition, buckle up, light a cigarette and then drive off. As a teenager in the Buick with my friends, I was usually the only one who was buckled up with both the lap and shoulder belts. Maybe a front seat passenger would begrudgingly wear a lap belt and only once did someone use the shoulder belt. They all thought I was nuts for buckling up.
Good job.....I will subscribe & hope one day you can do the 1977 to 1979 Lincoln Town cars, and 1966 through 1975 ( approximate ) Oldsmobile Toronado.
Oh and my parents loved Lawrence Welch too,
Thanks!
Thanks so much Scott! I sincerely appreciate this and glad you enjoyed.
Exquisite!
In the 1972 Cadillac brochures, they advertise the Fleetwood Brougham's color as being Palomino Firemist Metallic (order code=93) but, I don't think it is. I have a factory issued paint sample folder showing all 1972 Cadillac colors and Palomino Firemist is a warm tannish gold whereas the color shown in the brochure is a deep brown, which makes me think it's not even Cognac Metallic (order code=69), which is actually a medium shade of brown (it's shown on the Calais 4-door hardtop in the brochure); the more I've looked at the Fleetwood Brougham's color, the more I think it's actually Russet Firemist Metallic (order code=99 and one of my favorite '72 Cadillac colors), the darker of the 2 brown colors they offered that season because if you compare the Brougham with the Calais, (assuming you have good enough vision to tell the difference) there's a subtle difference in the tone of the brown that each car is and, as I said about comparing the paint samples, while both are brown, one's lighter and the other's darker, which is why I think the Brougham is actually Russet Firemist. I'm saying it's possible, upon initial introduction, it was a typo error on the factory's part and, for whatever reason, nobody corrected it, apparently.
The red Eldorado makes me think of Big and Little Enis Burdette!
Haha! Yes!
This was an insanely creative montage of elegant images and music. Was that Vangellis I heard at the beginning? From Cleopatra and Liz Taylor's saucy wink (my favorite part of the movie) to Laurence Welk. Outrageous. But inspire of that cringe worthy plaid suit, you managed to make me smile remembering a simpler time. Nothing simple about those Cadillac, though. Beautifully presented in all their bygone glory, every model an elegant statement of the time. Great job, Tofer!
...in spite of ...
Dang you, Autocorrect!
Thanks so much David! I have to admit I had a huge smile when I first thought to include that wink in the video... and when I saw how well it worked, well... I had to use it. I believe the opening song is Air to the Throne and it is in the CZcams audio library. One of my favorite pieces I've used several times.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Cadillacs, one day I’ll own another.
Congrats on 7k plus subs!!!
Thanks so much! Loyal early supporters such as yourself have truly helped grow this channel. I really do SO appreciate it!
Love those early seventies Cadillacs, it's no wonder I always liked going to the dealers every fall to pick up the brochures for the new cars, plus those Cadillacs make me think of LMAD, especially when they were the big deal of the day from Casa De Cadillac
@jdslyman I actually live in Sherman Oaks currently and Casa De Cadillac is basically around the corner from my house.
@3:38; look at the SIZE of that car!
Perfect 🌅✨✨✨✨mine was a half share in 75 4 dr caddy in 94 room power smoothness
Thers wher my faverite cars ever made the blue coupe deville was what i always dreamed about haveing the closetest i got was haveing a 73 coupe whithe wthith blue int
That music with the Lawrence Welk clips was different... Interesting though! I remember when you put that same music on the Nicholas Brothers. It worked really well! Did CZcams make you take that down?
Maybe you should make a list of the music you use, artist and title. I see those questions come up a lot.
Sadly, the Nicholas Brothers clip at the end of that video was copyright claimed by a scam company that claims a lot of old public domain videos so they can receive the ad revenue. So I had to remove it. I also rarely have old car ads because there is a channel that uploads them and then copyright strikes other channels if there is an audio match. Great suggestion for listing the music. I'll work on it. Most is free from the CZcams audio library.
Cadillac... in the Twilight of its Sentinel.
I see what you did there! ;)
Blink Blink!
How far they have fallen
I love this so much, Tofer! Beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Do you have the name of that vengellis soundin like tune peakin on the caddy calais? Cheers.
Hey old friend... sadly I do not know the name of that song because I renamed the file like an idiot when I used it for the Cimarron video years ago. I can say for sure I got it from the CZcams audio library. I hope that helps and I hope you are well! p.s. if you ever make it out to the states, I have the perfect house for you to investigate.
@@TofersCarTales many thanx!
When Cadillac was still "The Standard Of The World." Not so much today. (5/3/2021)
Those Cadillac look like big Chevys, no identity at all.
...apple pies & Chevrolet???... Cleopatra.. plus other glitzy things ( Lawrence Welk) linked to Cadillac? This video wasn't quite up to the standard of other Tofer videos.
