- Minimalism is not just about getting rid of stuff. The way I understand minimalism, the end goal is not to end up with nothing. Decluttering is only a means to an end. The bigger goal is to be more intentional, to take control of your life, and to have more time and space for that what you care about the most.
So even though I have discarded a lot of things, I’m not an extreme minimalist. I don’t live in an empty apartment. But the things I decided to keep when I decluttered my living space are things I really care about.
Here are 9 things I still own as a minimalist.

As a librarian, I invite you to visit your local library any time you need a real book fix 😉. You can also use your library card to download books, etc. to your e-reader. So many ways to read books! It’s a beautiful thing. 📚
Thanks for the headphone info, I’m in the market for a good pair. 🙂
Great suggestion, Penny, I love libraries. 😀 Good luck with picking a pair of headphones!
Yes! I love the Libby app on my phone for borrowing library books on my e-reader. It feels so intuitive and flexible as a tool to me. Here's a big thank you to librarians : D
i 100% relate to the bliss of discovering the ipod as a discman user, i still use my old 160gb ipod classic for the sheer amount of audio-dedicated space🥰 i've been reluctant to get an ereader because i do really enjoy the multi-sense experience of a tangible book and the look of my filled bookshelf but your perspective and the highlights database concept have me very intrigued😍 thank you so much for sharing your insight, always helpful and a pleasure!❤
The iPod was a real game changer, right Myurei? Like you said, you could so many songs on there, loved it. I enjoy reading paper books, too. But where I live, it's not always easy to get books in English or my own language. With an eReader, anything I could possibly want to read is accessible with the click of a button, and that's amazing. I do miss the tactile feel of flipping through the pages though! 📚
I used to feel hesitant to get an e-reader as well due to me being in high school with a minimum wage job so I would have to save up a lot initially to get one second-hand... also for environmental reasons I wanted to make sure I truly wanted one before purchasing it. I found that the Kindle app on my phone and the Libby app (where you can borrow e-books from your library if you have a library card) were great training wheel tools to ease myself into it. I personally found it so convenient and find myself reading at least double what I used to, so maybe you could find that a helpful way to see if you want to try it : )
Please do make a video about exporting your e-reader highlights/notes! I am currently seeking a way to document what little I do actually highlight so I can better apply what I learn in daily life. That is a great idea to post since I don't see a lot of youtube content about creating the highlights into a notion document. That sounds like a great idea & we would love to see it!
Can only agree on the XM3's. I got a pair of XM5's about a month ago and they made a huge difference in my headphone game, including for calls.
They're amazing, aren't they? 🎧 One of my best purchases ever!
V60 lover here ✋ I just moved to the Netherlands and honestly very sad as I couldn't find a cafe around my neighbourhood that offer manual brew. Almost every cafe offer manual brew in my home country. But I want to travel light, there is no guarantee I can stay in my current studio room for a long time, so I decided to minimise my investment and bear with the available coffee.
@gizralnork yeah good pour over can be hard to find! I like to travel light as well. That's why I like an Aeropress, it's compact and durable. Nothing beats a V60 in a cozy coffeeshop though. 😉
Thanks Peter 🇦🇺❤️
I get so relaxed when I hear your voice 😊
Thanks for the kind words, Caroline 😊
@@IAmPeterCook your so welcome and have a Great friday 😚🩷🩷
I was gonna say the same. Your voice is comforting

5:36 - I wasn’t expecting to witness the ‘crazy sound’ that you managed to record. Too bad you didn’t have recording of the ants crawling out of your MacBook 🤣
The ants were more quiet. On my more imaginative days, I would picture them building entire worlds on the inside of my laptop 😅
I have the same headphones about 3 years ago. Amazing headphones. Sometimes i wear them just to tune out people
They are amazing! 🎧
I love to see how your videos are constantly growing up in quality!
Thanks for a great video for a great subject :) Looking forward for new content on you channel!
Appreciate the kind words, thank you 🙏🏻
LOL I bought a fitted MBA 2014 with 8 GB ram instead of 4. Bought it 2016 2 years used with guarantee from a store. Still using it but thowing my eyes at a MBA M1 fitted with more RAM than the base model. But my old MBA still works fine for HD videos.
If it still works and does what it needs to do, that sounds like a keeper 😉. I shoot my videos in 4K and do quite a bit of editing in post, and that's when I realized I needed to upgrade. I put a lot of thought and research into it. And then it took an excruciating 4 months to get it delivered (you can't just pick up a custom MacBook in a store). But after having used it for 6+ months, I can confidently say the M1 is a game changer!
I'd really appreciate a video about using your e-reader. From highlighting over exporting and finally how you manage your summarys in Notion.
That's a great suggestion, @Dajhaniel. 📚 Last year, I made a conscious effort to start reading again consistently, and I've been enjoying it very much!
Thanks Peter, loving ❤️ your videos
Glad you like them, Patricia!
Great ideas!
