    I just started in the Mini-Z world. Have been racing 1/10 on-road, 1/8 buggy off-road and 1/5 truck on-road. So right now I'm looking at the new MR-04 Evo 2 and now stumbled upon this beast... :-O What to do...I already have a FlySky NB4 that I also use for my crawlers and other cars. The club I'm racing in are mainly running MR-03 and 04's. But it could be fun to come there with something else 😀 Although I'm not sure I'm then allowed in their tournament.

    Awesome video 💯
    Just a question: I'm also into crawlers and I run sensored motors there too. But I would rather go with a higher KV and gear down there, to have more control.
    So back to Mini-Z. Why don't you go with a 8500 KV, if it is sensored? Wouldn't that get you more control too? 🙂
    Well that is what I have done to my Evo and it works, plus added a super capacitor for even more punch 😁
    I guess it depends on the track right? 🙂

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, absolutely. We could definitely run more KV. This is just what we heard many felt was good for this car and gearing. The track matters as well. Also, from my understanding, the lower kv will give more torque. Too high of kv and you really have to gear down to get torque.

    • @kenneth_jensen
      @kenneth_jensen Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@TheShopMiniRC that is true, it gives more torque, but also less rpm. So it is too fuld the right balance 🙂 I know not many run the 12000 KV's. You will also never hit the rpm limit and you miss torque in the lower end.
      Many run 5600 KV's if it is AWD and a good split between 5600 and 8500 KV's for RWD. I guess it is up to what the individual prefers 🙂
      I run faster laps with a 8500 KV. But have also only tried 5600 and 8500, not 12000...yet 😁

    First off... HELLFIRE !!!
    It's been 4 months since you got the Atomic SZ2. How do you like it? Also (if you've ever run either/both), how does it compare to the GL Racing Giulia and/or GLA? As I'm looking to join our local group's AWD class, these are 3 of the 5 chassis I'm currently considering...but, honestly, the SZ2 is my current #1 option.

    • @TheShopMiniRC
      @TheShopMiniRC  Před rokem

      It’s been awesome. I wish our local club ran AWD more, but what I have driven of it, has been awesome. I also have the GLA, but it’s completely “stock” so it really needs a brass or steel chassis to get the weight low.

    • @ninthislandrc
      @ninthislandrc Před rokem +1

      @@TheShopMiniRC Woke up this morning, and (I believe) a "final decision" has been made - Atomic SZ2, it will (probably) be. Even better, this will meet the 'qualifications' of two different builds. On one hand, been looking to get 'something' to get into the mini AWD class...on the other hand (and, as I posted on a thread in the RC Tech forum), I've been looking for a complicated/time-consuming build (of any scale), as I'm growing tired of "simple" builds (a perfect example would be Tamiya TT-02).
      Until yesterday, the Losi TLR-tuned LMT monster truck (1/10 scale) was one of my top two contenders (and, I may still build one down the road). However, after looking over the manual for the SZ2, although not overly time-consuming, due to the size of the parts, it would meet the 'complicated' stipulation. In terms of how 'complicated', just based on manual, I would say it's pretty much on-par with my Reflex RX28SE.
      As your video was the only one in English that actually showed the chassis (several others show running video, and only one other one over the chassis...but, his were not in English), "thanks" definitely goes in your direction for helping me make this decision. Now, I'll just need to put together a list of required upgrades, as well as a list of recommended upgrades. 🤙🏼
