  • In this video I use BlenderCAM a bit more in order to mill a 3d relief of a cat I got from Turbosquid by Skazok. I talk about blenderCAM and milling a bit. One of the processes takes 14 hours to do so I start using a grow tent in my laundry room as a fairly nice indoor housing for the CNC machine.

Try different materials as well. Maybe MDF would produce a cleaner cut?

probably, but I bet it wouldn't be that different, I think the "v-carve" bits they use on big spindle motors and these little v-carve knife blade things that they typically ship with these 3018 machines do not produce the same results. I been thinking about buying a collet that'll fit 1/4" bits to try some of them real v-cutter bits. I thought the ball nose mill did a great job the the sides are a little messier.

@@OGmolton1 I have 1/4" collets. I will bring one over when I bring you that fuse thing for the Rane

@@OGmolton1 the sides is what I was referring to when I said use mdf. It will cut smoother and won't have wood tearout or fraying. I will bring some wood and mdf for you too

the thing with the v cutter bit here is i was running it at 0.6mm between toolpaths, which is way too wide, it should probably been more like 0.1 or 0.2mm, if i was using the fancier software it would probably just do that automatically, this software is powerful but it just has all the settings in a big list with complete control and very little guidance... i definitely have to try the v bits again at a much higher... well, resolution basically. this took 14 hours anyway though lol, shouldn't do clearing with a v bit. Surprised how well the ball nose bits work, they can clear and finish
