+Luke Oxendale it's almost as though they have a formula... I was acting as a counselor at a camp for disabled kids once and actually got asked, in these words "do you have a life?" by an adult (never mind the public function I was attending at the time). Then I was asked "do you have a boyfriend?" (the questioner was a female, apparently straight adult, not creepy, just... ahhh... tactless. Extremely tactless.) Then she had the nerve to ask where I'd got social skills. It becomes less funny the more of it you get.
i went on a jog once and some couple in a car pulled up and asked if i was ok... yes... im not a runaway... im not homeless... just homeschooled and doing PE class ._. never went on a jog alone before 3pm ever again
+Alex Sage I never even considered that would be a problem! XD We live out on a ranch of sorts, so I get plenty of exercise just existing out here, but yeah, if I go out on the road, I have the nosiest neighbors that drive by and offer me rides and ask if I live out there or if I was okay... XD

+Hannah Sutter Yeah, grown-ups really like their zeros and ones. All they really ask normal kids is for their name and age, but homeschoolers? Oh no, we get an ungodly amount of boring, typical questions.
Omg I hate when people ask what school I go to, I'm homeschooled and it always feels awkward when I think they're expecting an actual name they might want to talk about.
As someone who went to public school, but will be homeschooling my kids, that's because public schooled kids have very little life outside of school, and maybe one or two extra curricular activities. My life was school, sport practice/work, homework, bed, girl scouts, and maybe hang out with friends on weekends. A huge part of why I want to homeschool is so my kids can have a childhood, get enough sleep, and not be so stressed out while still getting a quality education.
I home schooled until grade 11. And I have to say. It was great. No drama. I got my school done by lunch and spent the rest of the time outside. Also. Homeschooling makes you look like a genius once you go to public school.
Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme I live in TN but the person who asked this to me was clearly not for a round here to not know what a church is. I have no clue where they where from.
Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme I don't remember what they looked like. The only reason I remember the look they gave me is because one of my friends gave me that look when I was trying to explain something to them when we where both half a sleep.
I was one of the few hs who knew their grade. My sister was always between grades or behind/ahead in some things, but ahead/behind in the other things, so when asked what grade my sister was in, I never knew! Lol
I honestly love being homeschooled, even though I get asked all these questions and stuff, I'm able to get out of school way sooner then most of my friends. Like usually end of April I'm on summer break and I'm already on Winter break right now. It's bomb.
+Jasmine Pugh this makes me so happy to hear! I was homeschooled from 6-12th grade and now homeschool my own kids. It's so encouraging to hear of so many positive experiences!
Let's not forget our *favorite* question: "What school do you go to?" Me:..... .... ..... .... ... WHY DO YOU CARE????? ...I'm homeschooled, okay? Sorry, I have heard that question too many times.
My siblings have a running joke going, so that whenever done one asks what school we go to, we give our address and the just go: "Wha???" and then they'll ask something like "Well where does your older sister go to school, and we'll say the same thing. Most of the time, they'll stand there and blink a couple of times before finally saying, "Wait. So you're homeschooled?" It's hilarious!!
Omg I'm so glad I've never gotten that one!! I'd be so mad and probably punch the person! That's just so insulting... Gosh it makes me furious just thinking about it...
One time after I told some older guy I was homeschooled he looked at me dead in the eyes and said "So how does the government know that your parents aren't teaching you witchcraft?" and he was totally serious. Like, really man? 😂
Thanks to Blimey Cow, I've realized that private school is like someone tripped on the step between home school and public school. Yes, I did go to private school from Preschool to 8th Grade.
+tiff0795 I basically spent my life in private school up to College. I didn't know anything else but compared to other public school in my country? Yeah it was great and I was glad ahah
I went to public school in high school. It was one of the biggest high schools in our area and so I went from a class of 3 to a class of "holy crap" as one of my friends told me, which was basically the truth as my final graduating class was a little over 600. My college has the same number of students as my high school so where everyone else was having a hard time adjusting to such a large school and I was just fine. I did love it at the private school and made a lot of good friends that I'm still friends with today, however, I kind of regret spending so much time there. It kind of messed me up mentally there for a while because I have no social skills whatsoever.
Natsu La Smileuse We didn't even have freshman year. It only went up to 8th grade. When I went into 9th grade, they were going to use us as guinea pigs for the high school. My parents wanted me to have more social skills and we were having financial troubles so they were going to put me in public school no matter what, although they would consider putting me in a smaller public school if I just couldn't adapt (spoiler alert, I did and made some awesome friends) however, my friend was going to do the high school, but it would just be him on a computer with a teacher if he needed help and so if I wouldn't be there he wasn't going to have nearly any human interaction for 8 hours a day. He ended up going to a slightly larger private school and then a public school (smaller than mine) that his mom works at.
My mom got so tired of being judged and questioned by random people asking why we weren't in school so we just didn't leave the house till after 3pm. Until 3pm, we did our schoolwork like everyone else!
Not knowing what grade you're in is the true homeschooling experience. Then the weird looks you get when you admit that. I just *love* that. But seriously, homeschooling is pretty cool, especially going someplace like the pool in the middle of the day and having the place all to yourself.
I actually used to be afraid to go into stores with my mom during the middle of the day because I didn't want to answer school related questions. 😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Amen! Even though I have graduated from college, I still get these questions. Especially Didn't you wish you could go to "regular" school? and How do you not know about____? Yes sometimes the thought crossed my mind but now that I teach at a High School, I can now say that I wasn't missing out on anything and 2nd, I am quite content not knowing everything worldly that it seems almost everyone around me knows. I am a Homeschool grad and proud of it!
Yes! These are all so true! When people are like. Do you live under a rock? I'm just like "yea, you know what? I do at least I am filling my head with important stuff and not a bunch of inappropriate stuff. So get rekt."
I'm 11 and in 7th grade, and I have had this conversation two times: Them: How old are you? Me: 11. Them: What grade are you in? 6th? Me: No. Them: 5th? Me: No. Them: 4th? Me: No. Them: 3rd? Me: No. Them: 2nd? Me: No Them: 1st? Me: No. Someone else: 7th? Me: Yes! Them: What? No you're not! You can't possibly be in 7th grade!! Someone else: Are you homeschooled? Me: Yes.
Nice.. I've had similar conversations. Technically I should be a freshman but I'm more or less a sophomore. It both pisses people off and confuses them. Wait till I start duel enrolling college.
Bravo-4 lol same I was home schooled with my older brother so my mom had me doing the same work as him and he is like 5 years older than me so even though I am a freshman all my friends come and ask me for help in language arts and history and stuff its funny
Someone: "So, what grade are you in?" Me: "Alright, here we go... Well, I'm doing grade 12 English, I'm all done all of my Social Studies for high school, grade 9 math (But don't worry, I just had to go back and do that because I did Pre Calculus in grade 9. Then I'll just have grade 12 math left.), French (not quite sure what grade it is), grade 11 Chemistry, and a computer science course. But technically, I'm in grade 11. But I'm gonna graduate probably by December of grade 12..." Someone: "Uhhhhhhhh..." Me: "You asked..."
This video is SO TRUE. I was asked every single one of these questions throughout my homeschooled life, I always hated the "shouldn't you be in school" question :P.
Then the question is, "what's that?" then you have to explain that co-op is a like school, but not school-school, but like school, and you get homework. Then their like "uhhhhhhhhh" and your like "yup..."
And it's ALWAYS insulting the intellegence of them too!! It was NEVER some innocent question. That's what bugged me the most. And other kids always assumed I was behind them and stupider because of it. Little did they know I was ahead of them because I had better books public schools cant afford, and more hands on education!
+JavaPython And remember to answer every single question on the test, even if you don't know the answer, because if time runs out and you answered the last ten questions all as 'B,' you'll be right one out of four times. It's not honestly that much about how book smart you are.
Hey, I wanted to tell you thanks for the support, I got a 27 composite score on my first try and didn't need to take the test more than once to be accepted.
Hey, I wanted to tell you thanks for the support, I got a 27 composite score on my first try and didn't need to take the test more than once to be accepted. (Though I would like to take it more and do better) +Daniel Schumm +Wolf and Soda
This video was pretty much my life growing up. My extended family questioned my mom's sanity for homeschooling us, until I graduated from college with honors. I'm always grateful to my mom for making the best decision she ever made.
As a homeschooler who never knew what grade he was in, I've always found the habit of using grades in place of ages troublesome. Like, someone will be telling a story that has nothing to do with school, and instead of saying they were 8 at the time, they have to say they were in 3rd grade, leaving me to do the math in my head.
This question is terrible for me, because although I enjoyed being at home throughout my childhood, we didn't have a co-op, and trying to read textbooks and teach myself didn't work for me. I started public high school late sophomore year, and I'm a senior now but still haven't found a positive way to explain it while being honest!
2:59. THANK YOU. As a homeschooler myself, I am perfectly okay if I am a bit more on the sheltered side. I often wish I didn't even know half as much of what I know about already. Pornography, sex jokes, cuss words and inappropriate slang; I would be happy to erase all of these subjects from my mind and live the rest of my life with no memory of such ungodly scum. This is why I often refuse to get involved in pop culture fads (movies and TV shows in particular). I get judged for it a lot and friends are often disappointed in me, but I'd really rather not numb myself out to things like gore, violence, language, and extramarital sex acts. They are not of God, and therefore, they shall not last in His Kingdom. I would much rather immerse myself in the things that last and make an eternal difference.
We had an art competition where only 26 out of five hundred pieces from schools all over the state would get picked to be hung in the Capital. My entire homeschool art class entered, about five of us entering two pieces, and guess what? Every single piece won. Wanna know why? In public school, you're taught to do something with no room to do your own thing. In homeschool, we drive ourselves with emotion to make our art. I'm not saying it's like that on all subjects, but that's my experience.
+Julia Strawn Our homeschool group has a Civil War Ball every year where everyone gets dressed up in hoopskirts and suits or uniforms and does traditional dances like the Virginia Reel. It's super fun!
+Julia Strawn That sounds great. I wouldn't even call myself "old-fashioned at heart" (except when it comes to books vs ebooks), but proms these days are basically allegedly chaperoned nightclubs with formal clothing and tables to sit at when the grinding is burning your eyes out. >.>
+Brianna McComb A homeschool group in my area that dissolved a few years ago always used to hold an annual barn dance. My church's youth group (mostly homeschoolers) holds a few Swing Dances (1950's style dancing) a year, too, and we typically throw in the Virginia Reel just for fun.
As a homeschooler I knew that George Clooney is an actor in "Oh Brother, Where art thou" one of the best films ever made. And if you're telling me there's any more I need to know, I don't believe you.
Yes. Just so much yes. Even though I have been public schooled for a good chunk of my education, I'm definitely a homeschooler at heart. This video is just perfection.
Oh my goodness, the "how do you meet boys?" and "how do you date?" questions... I think those deserve double facepalms. I used to lead a small group of middle-school girls at my youth group (all public-schooled), and they used to ask me all sorts of questions about homeschooling. I was not dating anyone (and had never dated anyone previously) at the time, and I tried explaining to them that this was because I wanted to wait for the one God had for me. But they didn't understand that at all, and most of them had been through countless relationships already. On one particular night, one of my girls said to me, "Ohhh, I know why you don't date! It's because you're homeschooled and you don't know any boys." I laughed so hard. Some of my best friends over the past few years have been guys. But my middle-school girls just didn't understand that you could know boys and have purely platonic relationships with them at the same time. :P
+Hannah Duell I never had any non-platonic interest in boys until my second semester of college. Even though I was in the shooting club at 4-H where you couldn't move for boys, as well as multiple other such groups--and every. girl. I've. met. in. college. thinks that I'm stunted and underdeveloped if I tell them this. Honestly, I think they regard boys as trophies.
Kate Sherry Ugh, I feel you! It's really irritating. But I've just had to get to the place where I'm confident in my personal walk with God. I'm good with being me, and other people can think whatever they want. That's their business anyways, not mine.
I always. ALWAYS. Hated being asked what grade I was in. I never knew how to answer. It was the. Worst. Question. Great video as always! Glad to see a new video on the topic of homeschooling. :)
Lol! Soooo True!!! An adult asked me how school was going for me, and I responded with "eeehhh...umm...that's a mom question!" And yes they know I'm homeschooled. And it's the hardest when you go to a homeschool private school, it's just like Me: "so yesterday when I was at school this guy-" Other people: "wait!..I thought you were homeschooled!?" Me: "well I am!...but it's like a tutor..but I go once a week... Oh forget it!"
Where I live, there are a lot of homeschoolers, so when someone asks why we aren't in school and we say we're homeschooled, they usually get a big smile and say something like "Cool, what are you studying this year?" Makes it much nicer. :)
One of my many annoyances are when someone says, "If you don't go to " regular" school you won't be prepared for life..." Well thank you, for your not very wanted opinion, but I think I'll be FINE!!!!
Same! I didn't know what it was until like last year when I met someone who was homeschooled that said they went to that. I still fon't know exactly what it is.XD
+Kristina Meyer In case you don't know, a co-op is where a bunch of homeschoolers come together (usually at a church) to do school together. It's sort of like a private school except that the teachers are parents. Some co-ops are big, others really tiny. My co-op, DasCHE, has a booming sports program, a student government, a plethora of social/volunteer events, and nearly 500 students to its name - just to put things in perspective. The main goal of a co-op is usually to help students socialize/meet other homeschoolers and to help free up parents' time who don't like public schools but don't want to teach their kids themselves.
1: I don’t even know. 2: Schoolwork. Just schoolwork. 3: Yes. And I refer to public school as “ normal school.” 4: I’m homeschooled. 5: There are plenty 6: No clue. 7: True. 8: I keep careful track of my grade because I feel the need to know how many more years I have left in school.
I got the "you don't know what (insert something inappropriate) is?" question so often, and I'm not even homeschooled! So to the homeschoolers who see this, you may or may not have a sheltered home life, but if you do, you aren't the only ones.
this is too accurate 😑😑 just today I was forced to say I'm homeschooled, so of course, got asked the standard "so how do you take government tests" and "so do u do everything online?" and "so what are u LEARNING"(???) like public schoolers don't have to deal with these slightly defensive, judgmental and skeptical little interrogations AND IM SICK OF IT😂
Sometimes I really wish I was homeschooled - the pressure of being around 29 other kids who are all freaking out about the same work and all have to learn something at the same quickfire speed really got to me as a teenager. My mum's a qualified teacher so I get the feeling if I had been homeschooled it would have been one of the best homeschooling experiences ever. I'd much have preferred to learn in an environment where I wouldn't be constantly compared to other kids or berated for getting a question wrong or not managing to do my homework (tfw when you just CAN'T do the homework so you just DON'T do it and then you get in trouble for not being an A-grade student), where I could learn at my own pace and my educators would know EXACTLY what I was like and EXACTLY what my educational needs were. Highly tempted to homeschool my own kids in the future because of this!
Not to mention the millions of times you get asked WHY you don't go to 'regular' school. Like what do you want me to say? I mean I could give several reasons and statistics in the form of an essay but its hard to work into conversation without sounding rude so I just say I always have. Which is then followed by the "do you ever wish you went to regular school"....
As a person who's done both home and "Normal" school I get asked a lot, "Which one do you prefer?" I like to answer with "Home schooling because I enjoy being able to try new thing, learn the way that fits me best, and just generally have more time to do what I really would like to be doing."
I was homeschooled K-12, though I did do some high school classes through a program at the university I now attend. A lot of these rang true and even as a senior in college, I still sometimes get a strange look when I mention I was homeschooled.
Thank you so much for this video!!!!!!!!!! i think I've gotten asked these questions about 1 billion trillion million times in my life and I'm only a freshman. Homeschoolers unite!
I go to a Christian University in Tennessee called Johnson by Knoxville. I have had that question about going to a "normal University" from my family and even parents. I am here because of their Youth Ministry degree and I would like to thank you for all the help you have given me with your videos that make people really look at their faith and has helped me stick to my decision. So thank you Jordan, keep doing what you love!
Lol once i was going outside to get the mail and the mail lady asked why i wasn't at school and i said " Technically I'm in school right now" she gave me the weirdest look
you guys are soooooo awesome!!!! I have been homeschooled too!!! and I get the FUNNIEST reactions after I have been talking to someone and I'm like "ya, I've been homeschooled sence kindergarten and im in like 9th grade." I love it!!!!
This is SO true, and I honestly have no idea what grade I'm in either, because when your homeschooled, you can graduate at any age you want, if you work hard for it!
The last one!!! I was home schooled until three years ago... everyone asked every one of these questions, especially the, "why aren't you in school?" one.
yeah, gotta agree on the last bit. Though I'm in college now, I had an incredibly difficult time remembering my grade, to the point where I was always a great behind. Probably didn't help I was a grade ahead in english and two in math, but still.
ahh yes, the good old days of home schooling, getting weird looks from strangers when you were at the grocery store in the morning...
+Gatlyn Anderson omg, yes. That is the first thing I think of when looking back on homeschooling. People would ask my parents all the time why I'm not in school. I actually still get looks like that, because I'm 21 but look about 15 or 16.
same
+Gatlyn Anderson You stole the words right out of my mouth. :)
+huntercrunch same! I am 21 but I look really young, mostly because I'm short.
Yep!
I was homeschooled too. This girl actually asked me, "So, where do you go to homeschool." I just stared at her with a weird look on my face till she realized what she had asked me. It was pretty funny.... even though it was really awkward
LOL XD
I know people always ask me that and it's really stupid and annoying!
Autumn Uhrig i just say “I DONT GO TO SCHOOL, NO OF COURSE I DO SCHOOL AT HOME”
Lmao
You forgot one
" Why are you home schooled?"
Anybody else feel me?
I know, right?
yep!
Roblox Gamer S Yup!!
YES!!
I feel you. Even made a video about it lol
Don't forget, "So... do you get to do school in your pajamas?"
+sheislindsay .... No.... (maybe... while having the TV playing the background...) XD
+sheislindsay Yesss...
Okay but this one is actually true. We do. It's great.
Lilly Era (@lillywhom) I don't...
+sheislindsay "Why do you have a backpack?" /facepalm
As a homeschooler myself, I can confirm all of these are true. I've been asked every single one of these lol
+Luke Oxendale Same. It's rather annoying.
Me too 😂😂
+Luke Oxendale

Luke Oxendale dude this video was so relatable I thought it was my long lost brother
Luke Oxendale Same.......

never went on a jog alone before 3pm ever again

+Alex Sage Which is part of why if I run during the day it is on a trail in the woods...
+Alex Sage Same. I wait until after-school hours to do my P.E. class. I always get asked if I need help. It's kind of annoying!
+Alex Sage Haha yeah my siblings and I were stopped by police and we told them we were doing P.E. as well. :D
I'm not homeschooled but reading your comment and the replies made me laugh so hard and feel bad that people do that to you haha
"Why aren't you at school" is the MOST annoying thing in the world!!! I always just answer "school got out early" or shrug.
Michelle Rekuc lol 😂
I know!!
"What grade are you in?"
…"uh, I'm 16…" *starts frantically counting after sixth grade*
Same
This video and comment section is so relatable!
I just try to remember what grade I would be in for my age (10th currently) and tell them that.
Best comment on here!! Yes! 😂😂
i just say 8th since im 13
Q: What grade are you in?
A: Yes.
XDD
+woodfur00 I had no Idea what grade I was till sophomore year of high school (homeschooler pureblood!)
+woodfur00 I'm in 8th grade

"Oh yeah, I already did."
Same.

Exactly
I have a friend who was doing prep calc in 5th grade
I'm pretty sure that Blimey Cow is the only one who gets it when it comes to homeschooling.
Nah, I think you're the first person I've seen that can't relate.
It's also annoying that every time I have a conversation with a grown up the first question they ever ask is "What school do you go to ?" And then I get asked most of the questions in the video. that awkward moment when they ask you how you make friends and you reply with church and they go whats church?
+Tori Volz That's the worst moment ever. I had some do that to me. The look they gave me was funny now that I think about it.
+Tori Volz
Where the heck do you live where nobody knows what "church" is?

I live in TN but the person who asked this to me was clearly not for a round here to not know what a church is. I have no clue where they where from.

I don't think I've been anywhere in North America where people don't know what "church" means.
Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme
I don't remember what they looked like. The only reason I remember the look they gave me is because one of my friends gave me that look when I was trying to explain something to them when we where both half a sleep.
When people asked my brother why he wasn't in school, he just started saying, "I don't go to school." And then wait for the questioner's reaction.
I always get tripped up by the "what grade are you in" question!
Shattered Glass Unicron I hate that question! SO MUCH!
Shattered Glass Unicron well I'm doing 9th grade English 6th grade math and I'm in 7th!!!
I was one of the few hs who knew their grade. My sister was always between grades or behind/ahead in some things, but ahead/behind in the other things, so when asked what grade my sister was in, I never knew! Lol

That is awesome! I'm going to college next year, but I've been homeschooled all my life, and I absolutely love it. :)
+Jasmine Pugh this makes me so happy to hear! I was homeschooled from 6-12th grade and now homeschool my own kids. It's so encouraging to hear of so many positive experiences!
+Talia Føre For more great homeschool videos check out my channel. They are all done by homeschoolers! :)
+The Brasky House It really is! I'm so happy to see others like me. :)
Let's not forget our *favorite* question:
"What school do you go to?"
Me:.....
....
.....
....
...
WHY DO YOU CARE?????
...I'm homeschooled, okay?
Sorry, I have heard that question too many times.
Pioneering Studios oh god the worst is when they ask you that, and then forget and ask again the next day.
YES
My siblings have a running joke going, so that whenever done one asks what school we go to, we give our address and the just go: "Wha???" and then they'll ask something like "Well where does your older sister go to school, and we'll say the same thing. Most of the time, they'll stand there and blink a couple of times before finally saying, "Wait. So you're homeschooled?" It's hilarious!!
XDD
I should have done that.
I FEEL YOU BRO
I LOVE WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT BEING HOMESCHOOLED WOW AUTOCORRECT STILL DOESN'T THINK THAT'S A WORD
I hate autocorrect when writing about homeschooling.
And another one is "So do you get to wear pajamas while doing school?" 🙄
Amy Barnett123 yesss!!!!
Amy Barnett123 yep
The answer will always be yes. xD
The answer to that my friend is, yes.
Senior in high school, yeah I wore pajamas pretty much all day today while doing school, and proud of it...
I was homeschooled and this is so accurate. Plus, people like to ask, "How did you get into college?" ...Really?
Omg I'm so glad I've never gotten that one!! I'd be so mad and probably punch the person! That's just so insulting... Gosh it makes me furious just thinking about it...
My mom is a better teacher than most in public schools. I'm doing ninth-grade work in 8th grade.
+Actual Trash Which one?
It kind of messed me up mentally there for a while because I have no social skills whatsoever.
tiff0795 Holy crap indeed ahah mine was fairly small. One class for each sections after freshmen year in fact
Natsu La Smileuse
We didn't even have freshman year.
YES HOMESCHOOLER VIDEOS
YAAS
this is the only channel that understands the struggle of homeschooling 😂😂 it's so nice
I was thinking their channel was too big to cover homeschooling anymore. I guess not!
+Maria S. For more great homeschool videos check out my channel. They are all done by homeschoolers! :)
Ikr!
"Inapropro" 😂😂😂
That part was the best 😀
Ikr 😂
I say that all the time lmao
You stole my comment! 😜😝😜
+Gymnastics and horses I'm beginning to think that the Brothers Chaps DIDN'T actually come up with that one.
"So...what grade are you in?" "Well..I'm in 8th grade English but I'm in 10th grade math..and sorta in 9th grade science so.."
Yes! These are all so true! When people are like. Do you live under a rock? I'm just like "yea, you know what? I do at least I am filling my head with important stuff and not a bunch of inappropriate stuff. So get rekt."
People be like: what grade are you in?
And I be like: *Already walking away backwards calling out "I've gotta go bye see ya!"
I'm 11 and in 7th grade, and I have had this conversation two times:
Them: How old are you?
Me: 11.
Them: What grade are you in? 6th?
Me: No.
Them: 5th?
Me: No.
Them: 4th?
Me: No.
Them: 3rd?
Me: No.
Them: 2nd?
Me: No
Them: 1st?
I was 11 in the seventh grade too.
Bravo-4 lol same I was home schooled with my older brother so my mom had me doing the same work as him and he is like 5 years older than me so even though I am a freshman all my friends come and ask me for help in language arts and history and stuff its funny
Bravo-4 I just say the grade the people my age are in. Even if I'm a year ahead
*Homeschoolers UNITE!!*
Nice profile pic bro
YES!
Huzzah!
Helllooooo
Someone: "So, what grade are you in?"
Me: "Alright, here we go... But I'm gonna graduate probably by December of grade 12..."
Someone: "Uhhhhhhhh..."
Me: "You asked..."
This video is SO TRUE. I was asked every single one of these questions throughout my homeschooled life, I always hated the "shouldn't you be in school" question :P.
My answer to most of these questions: I go to this thing called a co-op
Then the question is, "what's that?" then you have to explain that co-op is a like school, but not school-school, but like school, and you get homework. Then their like "uhhhhhhhhh" and your like "yup..."
+Brady Heilman oh so like a school you go to once a week?
Same. I them follow with, "it's like a once a week college prep"
Yup I'm a freshman so "It's like school once a week and homework the rest. Like my mom teaches my bio class lol"
+ElectricPlugProductions ohhh! I'm actually in one, but we don't call it that so I got a little confused.
Question 8: "So," *winkwink* "do you like your teacher?" *winkwink*
If someone asks what I do all day because I'm homeschooled, I'll reply 'I watch CZcams videos about homeschoolers all day!'
Oh my gosh, this is so accurate.
YESSS, people seem to think that homeschoolers aren't humans.
my parents don't teach me...my books do....she's called Abeka. :O
same..... I had the video program. And trying to explain that is really hard.
gabby smith
I know because most homeschoolers are taught by their parents.....but my mom showed us how to do independent studies early in.
same
yeah I mainly just have classes at a co-op,books and used an online program this year.
I love Abeka! If every kid learned through Abeka curriculum, our nation would probably be a lot more sane...
I hate it when people ask me if my mom is a certified teacher when we used books that were written by certified teachers
And it's ALWAYS insulting the intellegence of them too!! It was NEVER some innocent question. That's what bugged me the most. And other kids always assumed I was behind them and stupider because of it. Little did they know I was ahead of them because I had better books public schools cant afford, and more hands on education!
The other day someone asked my friends not what grade they were in but "do you know what grade you're in?" and they were like "um, yes, we know."
lol that's funny!
I don't know my grade either, but I take the ACT Saturday, several years before my friends...so YAY
+JavaPython Good luck with that. Just remember to relax, it isn't like you can't take it again.
JavaPython Sweet, that's better than my first score
This video was pretty much my life growing up. My extended family questioned my mom's sanity for homeschooling us, until I graduated from college with honors. I'm always grateful to my mom for making the best decision she ever made.
As a homeschooler who never knew what grade he was in, I've always found the habit of using grades in place of ages troublesome. Like, someone will be telling a story that has nothing to do with school, and instead of saying they were 8 at the time, they have to say they were in 3rd grade, leaving me to do the math in my head.
And once you're in college or later, they start asking you "did you like being homeschooled?"
This question is terrible for me, because although I enjoyed being at home throughout my childhood, we didn't have a co-op, and trying to read textbooks and teach myself didn't work for me. I started public high school late sophomore year, and I'm a senior now but still haven't found a positive way to explain it while being honest!
Not even in high school yet and already getting that question!
+Hannah Duell Hey.
Stefan Young Hey, stalker. :P
This is true. I was homeschooled. :/
Good pic bro!
+Livvy Beth thanks lol
+Naruto Uzumaki :D
I've been homeschooled up until high school. With that said... this is so true!!! I have been asked all of these questions, countless times...
Ever heard of English Country Dancing? Pretty much old fashion prom for the old fashion at heart.
Nope, but sounds fun🙂
And there's the ever popular "How do you meet people?"
"I'm talking to you, aren't I?"
Althoughhhhh I AM sick of explaining who Justin Bieber and George Clooney are to my fellow homeschoolers.
I'm homeschooled! And who doesn't know who Justin Bieber and George Clooney are???? Like what??? Especially Justin Bieber!
As a homeschooler I knew that George Clooney is an actor in "Oh Brother, Where art thou" one of the best films ever made.
And if you're telling me there's any more I need to know, I don't believe you.
+HoustonProductions1 Please don't, I've heard too much about them already and would prefer to remain ignorant about what few details I don't know.
+HoustonProductions1 Funny thing is I know more people who aren't homeschooled that don't know who George Clooney is.
+Daniel Schumm I agree!
Yes. Just so much yes.
Even though I have been public schooled for a good chunk of my education, I'm definitely a homeschooler at heart. This video is just perfection.
Also "Do you do school in your pajamas?" "how do you meet boys and do you date?" And my favorite: "Do you do 'real' school?" *facepalm*
+Hannah Duell
I never had any non-platonic interest in boys until my second semester of college. Even though I was in the shooting club at 4-H where you couldn't move for boys, as well as multiple other such groups--and every. girl. I've. met. in. college. thinks that I'm stunted and underdeveloped if I tell them this. Honestly, I think they regard boys as trophies.
Kate Sherry
Ugh, I feel you!
And it's the hardest when you go to a homeschool private school, it's just like
Me: "so yesterday when I was at school this guy-"
Other people: "wait!..I thought you were homeschooled!?"
Me: "well I am!...but it's like a tutor..but I go once a week... Oh forget it!"
Oh that last one really is relate-able since I've gotten back into "regular" schooling.
"College is time consuming and expensive and really intimidating!"
JORDAN. STOP MAKING ME REGRET GOING TO COLLEGE.
Yep. Been there, done that. I especially love the comment about "regular school," because it's so true.
real blimey cow fans are here seconds after uploading. hahaha IM A FAN
Yep! I would have been here sooner but it got distracted and didn't see the Notification😢
you forgot "What's it like being home schooled?" i got that question ALL the time last year!
Thursday, okay .. Do you mean Wednesday night or Thursday
Yep It's 9:19..... pm
Do they still live in Nashville? If so why do they post the video on Sunday nights around 8-11 if it's supposed to be a Monday video??
Yeah... I'm in the same timezone as them, and we still get uploads on Sunday night... Not sure what that's all about ;P
"So why aren't you at home... doing school?"
I already finished my school for the day, GET ON MY LEVEL
This one is one of my new favs! I've been asked all these. You guys are on point every video 👌🏼
Oh heyy ;)
Where I live, there are a lot of homeschoolers, so when someone asks why we aren't in school and we say we're homeschooled, they usually get a big smile and say something like "Cool, what are you studying this year?" Makes it much nicer. :)
Please publish bloopers!!!
Bekah, now I know where I can always find you! The comment section of Blimey Cow videos! Hahahaha! Funny to bump into you here :-) Ttys! -Sarah
+Rebekah Shashaguay HIIII!!! ;)
One of my many annoyances are when someone says, "If you don't go to " regular" school you won't be prepared for life..." Well thank you, for your not very wanted opinion, but I think I'll be FINE!!!!
SO TRUE! AMEN! YAS!
Once when I was nine, I met a kid who didn't know what "merchandise" was. All I could think was HA! HOMESCHOOLING WORKS!
Am I the only homeschooler who has never been to co-op/doesn't really know what it is?
I'm with you girl! Idk what it is either😕
Same here! Hahaha :'D
Same! I didn't know what it was until like last year when I met someone who was homeschooled that said they went to that. I still fon't know exactly what it is.XD
+Kristina Meyer Same
+Kristina Meyer In case you don't know, a co-op is where a bunch of homeschoolers come together (usually at a church) to do school together.
YES. YES. YES. THIS IS SO RELATABLE HOLY CRAP. I live for your homeschool videos.
MY BIRTHDAY IS TOMORROW!
happy birthday random stranger
Yeah! Happy birthday Mr. Robert Monroe!😀
+Robert Monroe TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEY
Happeh Birthdahhhh
+Ruthie Laura C Wooton's birthday song?
1: I don’t even know.
2: Schoolwork. Just schoolwork.
3: Yes. And I refer to public school as “ normal school.”
4: I’m homeschooled.
5: There are plenty
6: No clue.
7: True.
8: I keep careful track of my grade because I feel the need to know how many more years I have left in school.
#IstandwithIan
I got the "you don't know what (insert something inappropriate) is?" question so often, and I'm not even homeschooled! So to the homeschoolers who see this, you may or may not have a sheltered home life, but if you do, you aren't the only ones.
this is too accurate 😑😑 just today I was forced to say I'm homeschooled, so of course, got asked the standard "so how do you take government tests" and "so do u do everything online?" and "so what are u LEARNING"(???) like public schoolers don't have to deal with these slightly defensive, judgmental and skeptical little interrogations AND IM SICK OF IT😂
Mom would never let us go out in the front yard before 2, I never understood WHY!!! Thank you and God Bless you Blimey Cow (aka. Jordan and Co.)
I am a homeshcooler and I have been asked "So what do you do all day?" It gets very annoying and it happens a lot. Blimey cow your doing it right!
Right on! Especially about not knowing what grade you're in. I was usually in like three grades at a time.
The worst part was those times when my aunt was watching us for a couple hours and we had to go pick up our cousins from school. SOOOO AWKWARD!!!!!!
Our school doesn't even have a prom. Just a dance without couple's dancing called black tie. Sounds fun as far as my school goes.
I'm homeschooled and in 8th grade. and what you said is SO true!
I am homeshooled and I love it! I am so glad I am not the only one getting asked those questions.
Messy Sunday Nights! Can't wait for Messy Thursdays!
you guys are soooooo awesome!!!! I have been homeschooled too!!! and I get the FUNNIEST reactions after I have been talking to someone and I'm like "ya, I've been homeschooled sence kindergarten and im in like 9th grade." I love it!!!!
I have been asked all of these soooo many times!!!! Great video! I literally sream when I saw this in my feed! Homeschoolers are awesome!
These videos are my favorite! This is so true! Especially the one about "Why aren't you in school?" That one I really annoying!
