- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the BJP does not need votes from the Bengali-origin Muslim community in Assam -- often colloquially referred to as 'Miya' Muslims.
Speaking at the 19th edition of the India Today Conclave 2021, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "I don't want Miya votes, we live in harmony I don't go to them for votes, and they also don't come to me."
Himanta Biswa Sarma said many people in the state believe immigrant Muslims are the root cause why Assam has lost identity, culture and land. Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that there was no community-based politics in Assam.

I don't like the interviewer, if he is so much concerned about secularism, he should question about a holistic development of Assam not just same questions regarding a particular community.
You have to understand that he's asking questions that are already on the publics minds. Im very glad that Dr. Sharma took the opportunity and explained his point of view and all his answers were very satisfying.
Secularism word itself is non holistic and inappropriate approach to understand india. It is just like another barrier or obstacle to development in economical or social issues. It was unnecessary for India just for create chaos some MUR MATI ALPA JNANI imported the fancy alien word from west and somehow adjusted in our constitution so that political ball can be played in future.
