🤣🤣🤣
The host needs to let Sanjeev speak. OMG, what an awful host.
He seems like the same old socialist Congress stooge, who wants the same failed policies.
Cannot agree more..
100% true
I have to disagree. I think the host is limited by his editorial policy to ask certain loaded questions. He, otherwise, I think did a good job. He, in my eyes, seems visibly discomfited by the questions he has to ask.
They should not have called Sanyal.this anchor should ask a question and answer it himself and so on and so forth.
Why does this group allow Rahul Kanwal to embarrass himself in public every time by asking a silly solitary question? He invariably gets rebuffed & swatted aside like a bug.
And Sanjeev's response...LMAO
His sum total intellect of Rahul is below higher secondary level. He got fame for interviewing PM at age of 21 and his mediocre show continued till today. It is like he has never given second thought to his question at the end of the day. If he ever choose to do, he will be probably embarrassed.
The highlight was the come back he made, only to get swatted the second time.
I think people named Rahul lack intellect

Sanjeev Sanyal thinks outside the box. His contributions to India’s economic development will be remembered in history.
@Anurag Chakraborty An economy can develop and grow only if supporting institutional factors are available. Some of these include a sense of national integrity, flexibility and ease of resource allocation, the rule of law (especially civil law), unhindered markets, efficiency in adjudicating labor and land disputes etc. India has not reached a satisfactory level in all these factors. But, it seems evident that policy direction under Modi leadership recognizes these as important issues. This is a very important sign that points to better times for Indian economy. ( Also, many institutional researchers including IMF suggest high economic growth for India in 2021 and 2022.)
@Anurag Chakraborty Are you implying that economic development = 'GDP'?
Its always a pleasure to listen to Mr. Sanjiv Sanyal! Interviewer could have done his job better, he was interrupting too much...
Wow, really impressed with clarity of thought which Mr. Sanjiv Sanyal has.
No body should doubt Tata . Tata is gem for this nation , they care less about profit and more about their contribution to Indian economy .
Piyush goyal said Tata as anti national. Also, privatisation is done to maintain upper caste hegemony

Interview in a nutshell: "Sorry to interrupt".
Lovely point on creation of new PSUs that suit the needs of current times. That is how it should be.
The best point is that its more of a reprivatisation than privatisation as these PSUs were originally private. So no it is not selling of public silver but restorative justice.
Government spent Public money to buy planes and flying rights, not Tata.
@@keshavs6633 air india was owned by Tata. Ie the planes and brand which was subsequently bought by the government. With no clear purpose. They even owned Indian airlines thus felt it was appropriate to not only be involved in running one airline but two.
Great to listen to Mr. Sanyal. A brilliant man and i wished that the interview was conducted by Arun Purie. Hope this happens in the next year's conclave 2022.
The interviewer is so impatient and childish..
These idiots don't have any patience and the attitude of mujhe sab pataa hai

The interviewer doesn't know how to conduct an interview. It's not his interview. it's Sanjeev's. lol
@@amanchaudhary3171 Feel we're missing the point here. I'm not against questioning - would hazard the idea's not to have 'yes men' doing their bit. This is about decorum; by all means, ask, and ask tough questions, but let the interviewee speak. Find Indian interviewers confuse lack of civility/crassness for 'speaking truth to power'. A shame really.

Its always a pleasure to listen to Mr. Sanyal
Am I the only one who finds the background highly irritating
The interviewer is a disgrace. He is so full of himself. And Sanyal is always great to listen to.
Wrong! Those questions were relevant and Sanjeev skipped around it. Obviously it's difficult to answer all questions when you are incumbent but Interviewer has all rights to question on matters of concern.
One more thing Sanjeev clearly didn't answer about prospect of monopoly by Reliance and Adani by acquiring public assets.
Questioning was not the problem. Frequent unnecessary interruption and cutting in between Sanyal's answers were the biggest problems. The interview didn't achieve anything because of the lack of skill of the interviewer.
Sanjeev sanyal going to be the future finance minister of india.
@Anurag Chakraborty bhakt bolne se debate nhi jeet jate, kuch valid points do fir baat krna
Looking forward to the book Sanjeev mentioned that he is working on at the very end. Its way past time that we have a book that looks at the freedom struggle from the perspective of the revolutionaries.
Hope he does not write fake history like Vikram Sampath
@@ishaansengupta4122 If you really think that he is a fake historian, Can you give me at least 3 instances of his fake history narrative and the name of the book??
@@lazarwolf1874 Vikram Sampath has no proper footnoting, peer review or notes. Most of his sources are Savarkar's own works. He would not be able to publish his works in any academic journal or press.
@@ishaansengupta4122 Exactly what I thought !!
You couldn't give me one false information from his book and hence hollering about foot notes and peer review . And about that , Here's what the supreme court has to say :
"It is contented [sic] on behalf of the plaintiff(Vikram Sampath) that wherever he has taken extracts from the works of the aforesaid persons, he has cited/footnoted the same and has given due credit for the same. He further submits that Dr. Janki Bakhle has in fact reviewed the book written by the plaintiff in India Today Magazine and has no grievance with regard to any plagiarism."
He was targeted for scrutiny because some fellow historians disapproved of the subject of Sampath’s best-selling biography, the story of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
Sampath is not your average historian, whose craft has been honed in the ideological settings of institutions or through patronage from the established and recognised ecosystems of knowledge production and intellectual discourse.
PS: I did not see any distorted or misrepresented information in his book, nor can you give me one.
@@lazarwolf1874 The case was re plagiarism. I am talking about his sources themselves being suspect. It's simple - if he's a good academic historian, why can't he get published by any university press or in any peer reviewed journal?
This government doing great job in every sector specially in economy
Definitely.
The frequent interruptions are a disgrace and the interviewer should be ashamed of himself for such a pathetic job
He at least had the courtesy of apologizing. You should see a host named 'Rajdeep'. (But do not expect any shame for himself from him)
i see people cursing host for questioning sanjeev.fyi sanjeev is a govt man and it need somebody to question else it would be press conference of a party showing off their achievements.
sanjeev sanyal one of my favourite in gov..
Whether the Big businesses operate as Public Sector or Private Sector, the processes to be pure and Dharmic. Allowing gaming the System for the Electoral Autocracy and Manipulation, leaving room for fraud etc...intact is the cause of concern.
We are here to listen to Mr Sanjib Sanyal, not to assess the knowledge of the anchor. Why couldn't the anchor limit his role to asking questions & not to disrupt the answers? Horrible anchoring.
Sanjeev Sanyal is brilliant, extremely well read and honestly brave as he presents the economic scenario and the right and strong steps taken by the Modi government.
Tough interviewer, not Kanwal, who wasn't afraid to interrupt Sanyal at key points with hard data-- that's how it should be 👍👍. This is a conclave about macro policies that will change the economic landscape, not a monologue for a govt representative. To his credit, Sanyal responded with clarity of purpose and patience you would expect from someone like him. I am surprised he's lasted as long as he has in this govt.
Such a wasted session with stupid cross questioning!
Sir: Anchor seems to over- interrupting Dr. Sanyal from speaking. It should be avoided.
It is not appropriate for the anchor to butt in when we have some one of the stature of Sanjeev Sanyal on stage. Sanyal's best wasn't taken out in the interview. Is the Govt doing enough on nurturing capitalism? There surely is a need to do so much more. The questions should have been on those areas, nudging Sanjeev to open up. Still enjoyed the session. It is pleasure listening to him.
Good job Mr Sanyal......more needs to be done
Very clear thought process,Mr. Sanyal.
Ideally he should be Finance minister
Haha 😂
He's an academician.... We should utilise his intellect.... But politicians and intellects are different....
What is the point of interviewer asking questions only to interrupt with a follow up question mid way in the answer. They are more interested in volume of questions rather than quality of answers. And wanting to corner guest to catch headline but Sanjeev was too good.
800 million got free food. means 800 million can not even buy food
he does not talk about demonetisation why???
Contrary to what people comment below, I think the interviewer did a good job of probing Sanjeev Sanyal. It is not enough just listening, when you have a government servant ony the panel probing them to get answers. Also, I think Sanjeev did a great job of responding to the queries
No. He should ask small question & allow SS to complete his answers
Sir.
Don't forget there are only two bidders for air india .what it means?
For future selling also .can't expect much compitition
Because it was not an attractive deal
Did anyone find the background distracting?
Brilliant conversation
The background lighting is very distracting. I can't see much use of it but taking focus from guests. Simple is often better ...
andhra bank also established as private bank before nationalisation then why Andhra bank merged even though Andhra bank was working well and now says whatever privatisation happening whichever were not established by govt.. using as per conveninence without uniform justice to all
Sad to see govt couldn't run an airline profitably over the years, but even worse is that we are making a big news abt the privatization which happens 20 years after it was initially planned, we need is pace of reforms if we aspire to be a 10 trillion economy in foreseeable future
Certain businesses, Government should not run.. If they does, the company always be in loss.. Many examples around..8500 crores yearly loss!!.As a tax payer ,I am happy now
If u want that govt should run the business first of all remove all the govt job benifits from it, instant fire of non performer , no reservations based selection, no compulsion on following paying commission recommendations, appoint dedicated politician to run the company along with one IAS, because administration is done by both politician and IAS, fire them if they don't perform not transfer or just suspension pure fire , itna kr do fir govt ko bolo chalaye business
And one famous thought is
" govt has no business of doing business"
The day people like you understand government job is to regulate not run business and this communist /socilaist idea of running government is not feasible and has not been productive /successsful in any country then people of India and particularly our country jas good future.
These are all textbook theories that govt can't run businesses, I agree govt shd not be so much entrenched in all kinds of businesses but outright sell of strategic and potentially profit making ventures is not a great idea, asset monetization is a better idea than outright sell, but again it's too late for us now, we had let our assets bleed over decades of corruption and mismanagement and a fast paced privatisation is the only option before the valuation drops again
@@siddharth0401 brother actually textbook theory is that govt can run the business, in no country communism in economics succeeded check all the communist countries, get your facts revisited and when asked to communist they always say that " kisi ne ise shi se implement nhi kra " means what the theory which exists from 100+ yeard no body could execute it then its just pathetic theory, govt should only do that things at max which are connected to public welfare, though I am the person against the social welfare concept but still social welfare can be done by Govt but not the business
Through out the conclave and except for Rahul Kanwal, every single presenter (host) did not let the guest speak. Multiple injections and interruptions, long winded questions, juvenile assertions makes the platform less compelling. Hoping India Today ensures the guest get a chance to complete their answers without host being rude. “Listening is an art”
Great clarity from the CEA. It'd be nice if he's not interrupted every now and then.
I wish he had more power to do things. He's great
I assume he is going to be FM after 2024 GL.. similar like Jaishankar .. all the best to him.. he is knowledgeable and hard working person .. forget about right things and wrong things.. those things happen even in Individual level..
To many interruptions. We should let the speaker complete his thought process and finish his point. Example he was talking about salt commission land but before he could finish, he was interrupted amd we never know what happened.
Both of them very smartly dodged the question about generating monopolies. Anchor said we'll come to that question and then nobody came there.
Monopolies....this is India...in 20-30 yrs maybe like US have a number of juggernauts....we are just emerging from sosialistic hell hole...

While I didn't like Zarabi frequently intervening, his questions were really good and touched upon a lot of things. One thing I wanted to hear from Sanjeev was about the low quote price for the Air India deal. He told that he would come back to it, but never (or did I miss that part?), mostly because Zarabi was trying to widen the scope of the questions.
I agree. His questions were very good.
Accountability best solution. No point in running and supporting with tax money ridiculous. Even govt co should perform or quit
If public sector burns blood sweat and tears then does private sector workers burn chocolate and cream rolls 🤣🤣🤣
So many interruptions! I wish Sanjeev was given more time to speak! Doesn't seem the interviewer was interested in listening. Or maybe have a longer session with Sanjeev.
Its all linked to the growth of ecnomy , And Gorwth is the only way forward.

If the interviewer is so much concerned about blood and sweat of public money, then why should airline be run under losses by the government. For so many years it's only accumulating debt without any profits.
The Government by selling it to Tata's is trying to stop this debt cycle and cutting its losses. Interviewer should ask questions not pass judgments.
Privatization is the only way where efficiency increases, productivity increases and more jobs gets created.
Nationalisation was the worst thing happened to India. We wasted so much time nationalising and now wasting time to denationalize.

Unfortunately the current gang of unqualified stock brokers cannot make good economic policy. The issue is this government doesn't listen to expertise.
