Today, on this very special episode of The Ranveer Show, we welcome Dr. Subramanian Swamy. He is an Indian economist, politician, and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has served as a Member of Parliament in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Swamy is known for his outspoken views on various political and economic issues.
In this podcast, we will break down the workings of the current government and understand the rights and wrongs of politics. We will talk about his views on PM Modi, his mission in life, what the BJP is doing wrong, the situation of corruption in India, the media and their fearful lies, and much more. We also talked about the current election season and the fact why PM Modi should not be the Prime Ministerial candidate for BJP.
This was an in-depth conversation on Indian politics and PM Modi's government that in my opinion, every Indian should watch. I hope you will enjoy his episode and let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Interesting conversation. I am mixed on this. I do understand what he means by generating more demand, abolish income tax, etc. But I find it hard to believe that India has been fudging growth rate from 4% to 8% and IMF / World Bank has not maligned India's name for fudging numbers. It is in the national interest of the US to keep a lid on India and IMF / World Bank are heavily influenced by the US. So everyone is being fooled by India and only Swamy here can calculate the right numbers? I find that highly questionable.

You must give it to Swamy, he has mastered the art of narcissism from the American elites. There are wonderful stories of the New York elites capture very well by Stanley Kubrick in his Tom cruise starred movie "Eyes Wide Shut". I don't desire to be narcissist or be impressed by one or consider his version of reality as Gospel, rather be on path with Gurdjieff, Nisargdutt Maharaja and Ramana Maharishi. Absolute rubbish imagination: Abolishing tax would lead to runaway inflation . again GDP computation on 2024 inflation baseline is same across all countries , Germany and japan are in recession despite same calculation . Swamy wants to apply 1970s American reforms on Indian society. Thats not going to work, very limited and shallow approach thinking, he seems completely disconnected form reality. Not that i am a huge fan of Nirmala ji. But I hope this guy is not taken seriously by system. Noone in right frame of mind thinks india has a demad problem. INdia is eternally supply problem country (Ever wonder why we stand in queues in india , due to poor supply.) . He is completely in coherent and self contracting on one hand he says there is inflation problems on other hand he says there is a demand problem, you increase demand inflation will go further up. India has supply problem, fixing that would automatically bring down inflation. TO fix suppkly we will need to bring down unemployment as well that wil solve all problems. He has completely lost marbles, people should stop calling him to shows.

Only 5% people are paying income taxes. This is a huge pressure on these 5% people.
There are other ways to collect taxes like expenditure value (GST)
Businesses can easily get away from taxes by dealing only in cash but salaried people cannot
If this will continue, income tax will keep on increasing and people will flee to other countries to save tax and India will have only poor and rich people.
Also, income tax payers do not get anything in return. For road, there are tolls and road tax. No one wants to go to government hospital and school. If a person has to go to any government office he has to pay bribe to get work done.

You cant take tax burden off until supply problems are fixed. India needs to focus only and only on supply problems or become self sufficient in supplies only then we can talk all these fancy ideas. True. Based on last year prices, growth rate is 8.4%. If 2014(10 years) as base year it is 7.2%.
More concerning is consumption rate is low at 3.6%. It implies not all business segments are thriving. Reasons could be many, but I think employment growths are very low. At least on IT, there are too many people graduating with poor employability skills. Some can move with additional training & certificate programs, but many will compete for other jobs with graduate & non-graduate seekers.
If India fixes the education systemic issues & pushes stimulants for employment creation in both public & private sectors, gdp can grow at double digits.

I agree with him on income tax. There is no point of getting so much tax from income. There are less than 5% income tax payers in country and most of them are employees. It is a huge pressure on those 5% to handle burden of other 95%. By removing income tax and increasing gst, it will remove a lot of black money from market. And a person should be taxed on how much they are spending and not on how much they are earning. Because if someone is trying to save money for their bad time, they are not able to do so by paying taxes upfront. Only reason for high income tax is that Government's incompetency to collect tax from people other than salaried employees. And I believe only middle class/poor people do salaried jobs and rich are doing businesses because business has high amount of risk (with only 1% success ratio) and only people who have surplus amount can take that risk.
