I want a 10 second setup in my gc8.
How would compare this against a FP Black?
I had an FP Black after this turbo actually (there’s videos of it on my channel). The FPB made gobs of power and put MPH on fast. The X500+ made quicker torque lowering the range but not necessarily more than the FPB. I would go with the Black if I were to do it all over again.
@@gunslingermustang For street use, mountain driving and an occasional track day at a road course, which do you feel would better suit that the FPB or X500+? I am having a built motor done for my 2020 STI, wanted a FPZero and put 600whp down on e85 but the wait time would of delayed the build by months. I think I will be happy with a lot of useable power at 550whp with the X500+ but I'd like to hear it from someone who has both.
@@Pittimus84 with that mountain driving thrown in there you’d want a bit more low RPM response at a cruising RPM, in my mind. X500+ might be more beneficial with those conditions. Keep in mind, the 545whp we made with this turbo was at 27psi. A more reasonable boost level would make about 500whp. So you’re at a 100whp disadvantage with peak power compared to the FPB. The X500+ will run out of top end power after it peaks where the FPB will carry power for a longer RpM range. They have totally different capability.
@@gunslingermustang Thanks for the feedback, makes for informed decisions!
@@Pittimus84 you’re welcome. It’s a tough choice but you may like the faster power of the X500 but not be disappointed with the FPB at all.
whats with that powerband?
Specifically what about the powerband?
@@gunslingermustang both tq and hp start to drop was this the 10 second tune? you'd think it would hold to redline
That was the same tune on the 10.98, 11.07, 11.09 and 11.17 passes. It had an internal wastegate that wouldn’t hold more than 24psi near redline. 27psi where peak WTQ and WHP.
@@gunslingermustang that makes more sense thanks for the info
is this with stock heads or?
VirgGaming pocket porting, stock size SuperTech valves and BC272 cams.
@@gunslingermustang yeah i just saw in the description haha thank you, im thinking of doing a build similar to this. I just need the block and the turbo
Are TGV Delete a must?
I couldn’t give real power numbers between with and without. But the TGV’s are an obstruction that will make you have to work the turbo harder to push past them. I would highly recommend that you delete them. It’s easier power not having them in the way.
@@gunslingermustang what about fitment, my build needs to be emission complaint. Some turbos require tgv delete.
@@moisesr7840 fitment shouldn’t be an issue. I couldn’t tell you about the emissions part. The TGV is only there for cold starts is freezing temps. Other than that, they stay open.
@@gunslingermustang forgot to ask, is this a closed deck block?
@@moisesr7840 it was. I think it was an IAG “Stage 3” engine with all the hardware upgrades.
