However I would just like to mention that the title is incorrect.
This game is actually a remake of the Nintendo Famicom game *The Adventure of Valkyrie: Legend of the Key of Time* (ワルキューレの冒険 時の鍵伝説).
The game *The Legend of Valkyrie* (ワルキューレの伝説) is actually the arcade-only sequel to this game, which also appeared in Namco Museum Volume 5 for PlayStation.

** (The Legend of Valkyrie) Arcadegame got as a port as well for the PC Engine which might as well have been a new game since it had different stages and a different ending. Being an 8 bit system however, the graphics of the PC Engine port was not up to the same quality as the Arcade version but it still had its unique merits due to its various redesigns.
A port of this PC engine version was made available to Wii Virtual Console, with the arcade version being ported a year after as well (since once again, they're like two different versions).
The original PC Engine version was Japanese only release but got a fan translation patch.
The original Nintendo Famicom game also got an English fan translation patch.
The Legend of Valkyrie which appeared on Namco Museum Volume 5 for Playstation, was the game's first localization effort as the arcade version was never localized, nor was its PC Engine remaster, or the original Nintendo Famicom game, or its remake. This version had unlimited continues.
Incidentally, The Adventure of Valkyrie: Legend of the Key of Time was available on Namco Anthology 2 for Playstation (not to be confused with Namco Museum Volume 2), which was a Japanese only release.
And a port of this remake was made available for a limited edition of Project X Zone 2 called "Original Game Sound Edition" for 3DS which featured other bundle accessories like mugs and stuff. A port of this game was added into this limited Edition of Project X Zone 2 with the new inclusion of Xiaomu, the fox themed female main protagonist of Project X Zone 2 (and prior; Namco x Capcom) as a playable character other than Valkyrie. This PXZ2 Original Game Sound Edition was Japan only. The Valkyrie tie-in being the fact that Valkyrie is featured in the game PXZ2 as she was in the prequel before it, and Namco X Capcom.
Lastly, in Soul Calibur II, Cassandra's alternate outfit was made to look like Valkyrie's in resemblance.

This is the second game in the trilogy, even though it is a remake of the first made game in the trilogy. Sandra no Daibouken, aka Whirlo is the last one made, but first game in the trilogy.
