This scene was so sad. I wasn't expecting them to show the clip of Elvis singing Unchained Melody. I cried ; Elvis was sick, bless his heart, but he gave it his all, right to the end. His amazing voice never failed him. He was the greatest entertainer of all time; there'll never be another. Austin was phenomenal as Elvis and he recreated this scene perfectly. If he doesn't win the Oscar for his amazing portrayal of Elvis, then something is terribly wrong.
Me neither, the first time I watched it I was already crying when Elvis and Priscilla we're speaking in the car at the airport and when this scene happen I was still crying and when they showed they real Elvis that I was not expecting, I was covering my mouth. 😅

Austin Butler was outstanding in his performance as Elvis. I surely hope there is an Oscar in this young man's future. No one has deserved it more, imo.

No-one else on the planet has ever looked like him, moved like him, sounded like him, or had as much pure, raw, Charisma that he had. Austin Butler gets pretty damn close and he deserves the fullest of praise, recognition, admiration and (hopefully) the Oscar he so richly deserves.

I've got to hand it to Austin Butler. That man got Elvis's timing and expressions down to a tee. Probably the most perfect and exact recreation of that performance there ever was and ever will be. Truly incredible acting.
At the end of the movie I cried. Now I cried again. You see how much effort he does for his fans. He sings his longs out! And Austin, he had huge shoes to fill! But he did it, he nailed it! He deserves an Oscar! He's also such a beautiful soul, in and outside ❤️

Baz did a great job with the ending,he stripped back all the flashiness and after a quick transition just showed the real man performing, it was very touching.
At this point, it is safe to say thank you Austin. What a performance. I even forgot during the movie who was the real Elvis Presley. That’s how good the performance was. Oscar winner for sure.
He's not gonna win the Oscar. Brendan Fraiser is. It's just Brendan's time. But that doesn't take away from Austin's incredible performance. Austin will have his moment. Hopefully when it does happen, he doesn't ruin it by going on stage, and slapping somebody in the face.

I luv it too but the in later songs Austin's voice was mixed with Elvis's voice..so it is more Elvis later on..but it is kinda nice they blended the two in Elvis's last years with us on Earth.
Heartbreakingly beautiful. I cried and cried when I watched this in the theater. Austin you captured a man with an absolute pure heart who was probably at his worst physically - how incredibly hard that must have been. God bless you and the Presley family -especially now at this very sad time with Lisa Marie's passing.
I am glad Elvis was not here to bury his precious daughter. We lost him too soon and have grieved, but to lose a child is unimaginable and for that reason only I am glad God took him home when He did. I cry whenever I see this part in the movie. Austin was amazing and definitely deserves the Oscar. You could tell Elvis was so sick yet he never let his fans down. He sang that song so beautifully from his heart and soul. Elvis was a gift from God. He will always be remembered with love, kindness and a good heart. God bless you, Austin, for portraying Elvis like no other. Through you, we saw into his soul. Thank you for the performance of a lifetime.
Just finished watching the film. Absolutely tragic how Elvis was used & abused financially. Austin Butler did a superb job, and he deserves all the recognition for his portrayal. This song has always made me tear up but watching Elvis perform it a few weeks before his passing is just -goosebumps.

@Lisa Marie I think the cancer story first started with Vernon Presley and a couple of others like Kathy Westmoreland repeated it, but it really took off after Charlie Hodge brought it up in his 1984 book Me 'N Elvis. With that being said, there's never been any proof of it, even in the autopsy.
@Lisa Marie No bone cancer, Just a man who had destroyed his body with excessive drug abuse over many, many years. His heart was enlarged, his liver was damaged, and his colon was so destroyed after so many years of drug abuse it didn't function like a healthy colon. (a colon this damaged is a sure sign of drug abuse). Elvis did all of this to himself and that makes it all the sadder. .

Elvis was depressed sad and addicted to drugs and he didn’t know how his addiction was affecting his health. He loved his fans and performing and he gave it his all. The loss of his mother and Priscilla leaving him truly pained him so very much. I love Elvis so very much and he will always be the King. His music influences musicians to this day. I wish I could tell him this.
Austin Butler certainly deserves an Oscar, and it appears that he should be a shoo-in for The Peoples Choice. I hope his fellow actors will support him for the SAG Award, as well. His performance portraying the iconic Elvis was almost eerily flawless.
I was reluctant to see the movie at first, b/c I didn't think that anyone could impersonate the King w/out making it cheesy. When I did see the film, however, I was so blown away. Austin Butler was incredible as Elvis. When the film cut to the real Elvis singing, I lost it. The tears flowed heavily. I grew up to listening to his albums. My mother loved him so much. We were shopping for baby clothes at Carson Pirie Scott in Chicago when his death was announced over the intercom. Everyone there was stunned. Women cried, including my mom and I. There will never be another like you Elvis, but Austin came damn close! Give that guy the Oscar!
Yeah, my jaw dropped at that switch, I guess I forgot I was watching something based on a stars life, because you could write a fictional story of a singer being manipulated by someone into continually performing, but at the switch I realised that Elvis really went through some things.

I am 54, been an Elvis fan since I was 3, probably b4 but I can remember since I was 3.... I don't 'do' Elvis impersonators... but OMGOODNESS, Austin Butler... I know Elvis' live shows frame for frame... Austin SMASHED it... I find it REALLY difficult to watch Elvis do his last performance of Unchained Melody, my heart breaks to see him like that, so to see it mashed up at the end of this film finished me off... Austin deserves an Oscar xxx

The movie begins with the relative innocence of the 1950's and like JFK MLK RFK and the men who went to Vietnam lives were cut short and there was much pain and transformation in the 1960's and 70's. Deep down inside Elvis's Christian faith taught him his life had purpose. His voice, his personality and his overall entertainment brought enormous joy to his fans. The ending of the movie is both sad and triumphal.

Wow ! His voice never failed him even though he was in such bad health. I lived in Memphis when Elvis died. I was 7 years old. Of course everyone was grieving. In my 7 year old mind all I could think of is Lisa Marie was her Daddy died and I asked my Mom who’s going to be her Daddy now? I was really sad for her. As we all know Elvis is always imitated but never duplicated. Austin did a fine job playing him though. ❤
You really don't know who to watch in this clip, Elvis or Austin. Austin did such an incredible job of this movie - he MUST get an Oscar for it. Also this clip of Elvis's last concert is one of the saddest things I've ever watched, even if you didn't know it would his last. I felt this way when I first saw it long before the movie. Elvis at this time was a man who had destroyed his body. It was almost as if he was committing passive suicide, and at the time of this concert there was no hope for him even if he had tried to save himself - and he was the only one who could have done that. Elvis, terribly, horribly sad.
This made me cry. I was only 10 years old when Elvis died, and I have never stopped loving him. His voice, his music, his kind and generous heart has touched my heart. When I was 6 or 7, i told my parents I would go to America when I was all grown up and marry Elvis Presley. Such was my innocence! Now my dream is to seek him out in heaven when I die, just to hug him and let him know how loved he was and is. Elvis forever ❤🙏⚘
Ive been an Elvis fan for a while. My kids grew up with his music and videos. Austin Butler did an excellent job playing the role of Elvis. I hadn't realized he actually was singing. WOW!!! Good job. I truly love the movie’s unearthly cinematic style in the beginning and throughout because that’s how Elvis was. Out of this world. And how Baz brought it all home to reality at the end. Because in the end, we are all human. Elvis was a force of nature, but in the end he is like everyone else.

The choice to not show any footage of the real Elvis until this point was SO genius. It's like, you've seen Elvis, you know what he looks like and how he performed, but for them to just slip seamlessly into him performing this song...MAN, it made it feel like seeing him for the first time...I'd like to add that I'm a 6"3, 36 year old black man, and the moment it switched to the real Elvis, I started crying like a punk, I'm talking SERIOUS blubbering....a truly masterful film...

I saw this at our local outdoor Drive In Theater. It was misting rain. When this scene started I stepped out of my truck crying my eyes out as the rain mixed with my tears...I.fell. to. pieces.😢
For a split second I thought the film had ended and they were showing real footage of Elvis at this point. Austin had already done a perfect job but this… wtf?! WOW! I cry at this performance anyway. It being Elvis’ last performance just adds to the emotionality and significance. His heartbreaking and beautiful journey as arguably the single greatest and most influential artist to have ever existed, culminating in such resonating lyrics. Long live Elvis.
So painful to watch this but had to because Elvis gave it all to the very end. The least I could do is watch and praise the performance out of respect.
I have never let my mom live down the fact she passed on a chance to meet Elvis just before he passed. She worked IATSE (the stage hand union) and was brought in to work an Elvis concert in Indiana (I think) to set up the stage and dressing room, she said his instructions were just to set up his coffee pot and a few small things, nothing extravagant. Elvis' guys said if she waited around they would introduce her to Elvis when he got there, I think he liked to thank the stage hands. By that time Elvis wasn't popular with mom's generation and she wanted to go meet friends, so she left and missed her chance to meet him.
When Elvis's face hit the screen, the charisma just exploded through the theater. Untouchable. Beautiful
I felt that charisma too in the beginning when they showed Elvis Madison Square Garden left screen clip and Austin on the right.

Internationally the voters hadn't worked with either of them, nor were they the ones who owed Fraser reparation. Fraser plays himself, and the same guy in a room. Butler plays various personalities over 3 decades on and off the concert stage. Just the musical scenes alone are award worthy, throw in the private life moments and it's not close. Seriously, ask yourself why Fraser couldn't win with Film academies in The UK, Ireland and Australia, or media in Spain and South Africa if he was so undeniable?

Baz did a great job with the ending,he stripped back all the flashiness and after a quick transition just showed the real man performing, it was very touching.
At this point, it is safe to say thank you Austin. What a performance. I even forgot during the movie who was the real Elvis Presley. That’s how good the performance was. Oscar winner for sure.
He's not gonna win the Oscar. Brendan Fraiser is. It's just Brendan's time. But that doesn't take away from Austin's incredible performance. Austin will have his moment. Hopefully when it does happen, he doesn't ruin it by going on stage, and slapping somebody in the face.

I luv it too but the in later songs Austin's voice was mixed with Elvis's voice..so it is more Elvis later on..but it is kinda nice they blended the two in Elvis's last years with us on Earth.
Heartbreakingly beautiful. I cried and cried when I watched this in the theater. Austin you captured a man with an absolute pure heart who was probably at his worst physically - how incredibly hard that must have been. I am glad Elvis was not here to bury his precious daughter. We lost him too soon and have grieved, but to lose a child is unimaginable and for that reason only I am glad God took him home when He did. I cry whenever I see this part in the movie. Austin was amazing and definitely deserves the Oscar. You could tell Elvis was so sick yet he never let his fans down. He sang that song so beautifully from his heart and soul. Elvis was a gift from God. He will always be remembered with love, kindness and a good heart. God bless you, Austin, for portraying Elvis like no other. Through you, we saw into his soul. @Lisa Marie I think the cancer story first started with Vernon Presley and a couple of others like Kathy Westmoreland repeated it, but it really took off after Charlie Hodge brought it up in his 1984 book Me 'N Elvis. With that being said, there's never been any proof of it, even in the autopsy.
@Lisa Marie No bone cancer, Just a man who had destroyed his body with excessive drug abuse over many, many years. His heart was enlarged, his liver was damaged, and his colon was so destroyed after so many years of drug abuse it didn't function like a healthy colon. (a colon this damaged is a sure sign of drug abuse). Elvis did all of this to himself and that makes it all the sadder. .

I thought Austin did an outstanding job playing Elvis. But it brought a tear to my eyes at the end when the switched from Austin to the King himself!
After reading many of these comments I glad to say that it finally looks like people are having a turn around in how they feel about Elvis. Empathy .
Elvis was depressed sad and addicted to drugs and he didn’t know how his addiction was affecting his health. He loved his fans and performing and he gave it his all. The loss of his mother and Priscilla leaving him truly pained him so very much. I love Elvis so very much and he will always be the King. His music influences musicians to this day. I wish I could tell him this.

I was reluctant to see the movie at first, b/c I didn't think that anyone could impersonate the King w/out making it cheesy. When I did see the film, however, I was so blown away. Austin Butler was incredible as Elvis. When the film cut to the real Elvis singing, I lost it. The tears flowed heavily. I grew up to listening to his albums. My mother loved him so much. We were shopping for baby clothes at Carson Pirie Scott in Chicago when his death was announced over the intercom. Everyone there was stunned. Women cried, including my mom and I. There will never be another like you Elvis, but Austin came damn close! Give that guy the Oscar!

Yeah, my jaw dropped at that switch, I guess I forgot I was watching something based on a stars life, because you could write a fictional story of a singer being manipulated by someone into continually performing, but at the switch I realised that Elvis really went through some things.

The movie begins with the relative innocence of the 1950's and like JFK MLK RFK and the men who went to Vietnam lives were cut short and there was much pain and transformation in the 1960's and 70's. Deep down inside Elvis's Christian faith taught him his life had purpose. His voice, his personality and his overall entertainment brought enormous joy to his fans. The ending of the movie is both sad and triumphal.

Wow ! His voice never failed him even though he was in such bad health. I lived in Memphis when Elvis died. I was 7 years old. Of course everyone was grieving. In my 7 year old mind all I could think of is Lisa Marie was her Daddy died and I asked my Mom who’s going to be her Daddy now? I was really sad for her. As we all know Elvis is always imitated but never duplicated. Austin did a fine job playing him though. ❤

You really don't know who to watch in this clip, Elvis or Austin. Austin did such an incredible job of this movie - he MUST get an Oscar for it. Also this clip of Elvis's last concert is one of the saddest things I've ever watched, even if you didn't know it would his last. I felt this way when I first saw it long before the movie. Elvis at this time was a man who had destroyed his body. It was almost as if he was committing passive suicide, and at the time of this concert there was no hope for him even if he had tried to save himself - and he was the only one who could have done that. Elvis, terribly, horribly sad.

I truly love the movie’s unearthly cinematic style in the beginning and throughout because that’s how Elvis was. Out of this world. And how Baz brought it all home to reality at the end. Because in the end, we are all human. Elvis was a force of nature, but in the end he is like everyone else.

The choice to not show any footage of the real Elvis until this point was SO genius. It's like, you've seen Elvis, you know what he looks like and how he performed, but for them to just slip seamlessly into him performing this song...MAN, it made it feel like seeing him for the first time...I'd like to add that I'm a 6"3, 36 year old black man, and the moment it switched to the real Elvis, I started crying like a punk, I'm talking SERIOUS blubbering....a truly masterful film...

I saw this at our local outdoor Drive In Theater. It was misting rain. When this scene started I stepped out of my truck crying my eyes out as the rain mixed with my tears...I.fell. to. pieces.😢
For a split second I thought the film had ended and they were showing real footage of Elvis at this point. Austin had already done a perfect job but this… wtf?! WOW! I cry at this performance anyway. It being Elvis’ last performance just adds to the emotionality and significance. His heartbreaking and beautiful journey as arguably the single greatest and most influential artist to have ever existed, culminating in such resonating lyrics. Long live Elvis.

I have never let my mom live down the fact she passed on a chance to meet Elvis just before he passed. She worked IATSE (the stage hand union) and was brought in to work an Elvis concert in Indiana (I think) to set up the stage and dressing room, she said his instructions were just to set up his coffee pot and a few small things, nothing extravagant. Elvis' guys said if she waited around they would introduce her to Elvis when he got there, I think he liked to thank the stage hands. By that time Elvis wasn't popular with mom's generation and she wanted to go meet friends, so she left and missed her chance to meet him.
