  • In this video I test Gzk Green .50 and GZK Black .50 (anti cold) in -16°c weather to see if the cold weather bands will do what they claim they do. Also I have tested these 2 bands before in summer so we will compare the summer speeds with the winter speeds. Both bands were tested with the Casper from Prime Fork Catapults

    Awesome video and information Mark! I haven’t used any cold weather bands yet even though I have some that GZK sent me. It doesn’t get near as cold here in the southern US as there. It’s -5 C here now. Thanks for getting cold to let my know that cold weather latex will probably not be any benefit to me especially where I live. Stay safe and warm brother. 👊🍻

      I really thought cold weather bands were better than this. I think I will just go up a size in winter and not buy cold weather bands at all.

    It has been freezing here too and my go to cold weather bands are simpleshot black. It was 19 ° F or -13 °C today and they did very well. I hate cold weather shooting but we have to do it if we want to keep the skill.

    Would you prefer the black or green for hunting and shooting darts?? I've always shot the black flat bands and have been hearing the GZK green was the way to go, now that I've started shooting darts and hunting with them and seeing your video I still don't know which to go with lol.

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Před 3 lety

      Personally I don't like green it has a really heavy draw I would go with snipersling black. It has a lighter draw and it is faster.

    • @Gillespie91
      @Gillespie91 Před 3 lety

      Ok thanks! Is there a taper you prefer that gives you the best life along with decent speed to. Im just now getting into cutting my own bands and never used a taper before so I was curious? Thanks for getting back to me to I wasn't sure if I would get a reply since the video was posted awhile back lol.

      What size ammo do you shoot?

    • @Gillespie91
      @Gillespie91 Před 3 lety

      Generally just 5/16 when I do shoot ball bearings. But I started shooting darts I got from snipersling a year ago or so. And then started making my own that are more lethal for hunting with more of a broadhead style tip.

  • @billbob7170
    @billbob7170 Před 3 lety +1

    thats crazy i have gzk black and green 6.2 and 0.66 and the black bands are a much stiffer draw than the green and i heard game keeper john say black was stiffer draw than green to

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Před 3 lety +1

      Maybe the .50 are different. I will be testing the .54 soon and see what we get. Actually I believe I put the draw weight in my summer video. I would have to go back and check.

    • @jimmy66603
      @jimmy66603 Před 3 lety +1

      @bill bob.....watching John Webb switch from his usual TBG to gzk green is what made me give them a go. I'm using green .80 at the minute. I bought 3x ready made sets at 24/19. But they're a bit too much for my preferred 9.5 steel. So I recut one set to 18/12 for the 9.5, and another set at 15/10 for 8mm steel. I was undecided about the gzk green cos I'd never used it before, but I've learnt that the .80 doesn't suit me. So I've orderd another set of green .66 20/12 to try out. I tried some .66 black last year for 8mm. I can't remember the exact cut, but they were skinny. I didn't Max them right out, but they hurtled 8mm. The only disappointment was the band life. All 4 sets started to give way just above the pouch after as little as 50 shots. The green appears to be tougher so far.

    Great work Mark, very insightful video & respect to you for getting outside! Could I get your thoughts on the subject of wrap n tuck and clipped frames? I recently got a clipped Evo to go with my wrap n tuck one, so had the two banded up the same. I found that I was getting far more hand slap with the wrap n tuck one, which in the cold was painful enough to make me put it down. I know I was probably overpowered, band to amo, or maybe the set-ups were slightly different! But was curious whether it could be due to the bands travelling further over the frame with the wrap n tuck? Cheers

    • @ATOMark
      @ATOMark  Před 3 lety +2

      That could be it but it could also be that the wrap and tuck setup is using up more of the band at the attachment and it is stretching a little further. This would generate more speed. If you cut the same sized band for the clipped version you may be stretching less and therefor have less slap
