I actually used him Saturday morning inside a storm guardian unit, rolled the 1 when it mattered - but he will be beefing up the damage from the 30 dire avengers and 9 Windriders I was testing out. (Which are confirmed excellent!)
I used his extra 3 fate dice to reroll a couple of times in order to start with 3+ 6s. This game I was also running 50 defenders to test a 130 body list... mixed results. Ended the game with 11 dice! Need to add in some other units to use dice in more phases.
I discovered the ability to sub dice within 12" of him mid game, and it blew my mind. I did find it strange "farseer" wasn't writted as "FARSEER" in the skyrunner datasheet ability. I always assumed if it was keyword based it is capatalized, and if it was unit description it would be lower case, etc.
Beat the good demon list 88:81, having all that OC was a real mix up from the usual meta nonsense :D
Nice i like that a lot! Use Storm guardians im always feeling like they need that fate dice for a good advance roll! and yes the branching fates interaction is a bit wacky but it makes sense he is eldrad after all!
@@ProxyHammer1 I think there is no other way of understanding Branching Fate ability. Otherwise they would have written the sentence more simply, and it makes sense with our lore 🙂

Mine is auto include, the bonus to wound is excellent and his snipping character psy power did wonders with me. Hellbrecht and Typhus os in my last two games.

I think videos like these could really do with adding some specific perspectives on what 'meta big boys' this would be a target into.
You're *almost* there, saying he'll be useful in the new meta. And I think you're right! But the *reason* you're right is because he's a perfect counter to Technomancer lead Wraith units and character C'tan, a meta defining units at the moment. Mindwar can reliably remove the Technomancer and tickles a C'tan, and both defensive profiles loooove +1 to wound more than any other buff. The insight into the meta is spot on, but should be more specific.

The second Aeldari list of the LVO finals was having a Warlock Conclave. Maybe the start of a new trend ?
Ya id have to do a bit of playtesting with that it never worked for me in the beginning of the edition but with indirect being more rare ill have to reconsider it
I proxed my eldrad Mole with the bonesinger for a very long time because I don't play named character models as a matter of principle.
What's more, he couldn't sprint in the fourth edition because he's an old man. That didn't suit my hyper-aggressive style of play.
But I still only have 10 guardians.
I'd also like to say a few words about the video. Besides the fact that I think it's a shame how the aspect warriors were generved, I found the loss of psic powers the worst.
Eldrad doesn't really feel like a real hero anymore, he seems more like a sidegrade for a Farseer, which I think is a shame.
Apart from that, I really need him for my current style of play. A coordinated attack is just so much easier with Doom, especially since he can ride in the Falcon together with fire dragons.
Yes he didn’t have fleet of foot in 4th that was so funny! I do think it’s a bit of a shame that he feels like a side grade but i understand the logic behind the decision in design 🫤
Personally I enjoyed Eldrad's lore so much, he went to the top of my wishlist when I started collecting the minis. If people have been sleeping on Eldrad then I hope this video helps promote the legend to more plays
He's honestly one of our best units tbh, I always take him. His 3 extra fate dice and +1 to wound is crazily good 👌🏼 I tend to run him in a guardian blob and put them in my Wave Serpent and send them down field so he can jump out and give the buff to the units that want them

@ProxyHammer1 yes!! I've used him since the start of 10th, and the extra fate dice are great, as it allows you to roll a couple of times if the first roll sucks and then you're still at 12 fate dice, not to mention the farseer change to 6 ability and the enhancement that changes a normal dice to a 6.
I'll then push the Eldrad/Guardians/Wave Serpent up the field and target enemy tanks with the +1 to wound and make sure all my brightlances/wraiths are wounding them on 2's 99% of the time, and my fire Dragons on 4's and then follow up against a monster unit/terminator equivalent unit and have my Avengers, Windriders and Shrouds lethal hitting them 😅

tried him for a few tournaments... failed the doom 2+ 5 games in a row, left him in a box ever since! I despise Farseer rolls! They never go off!

My 5+ invulnerable saves are much more reliable than my 2+ armour saves! You just don't question it after a while 😂
Eldrad was my first purchase in 2nd edition ... A ling time ago. He was so powerful in the psychic phase ! Killing many models around him !
Now... In 10th edition, this is not him.
So... Thank you to maximize him ! I want so much to play him and Jain Zar again !

My competitve list include now : 1) 9 wind riders, 2) dire avengers + Asurmen, 3) 5 wraithguards + spiritseer, 4) eldrad with warlocks in a falcon (doom is at the start of shooting phase not in command phase).
With my list you have a potential 3 units that can shoot in your opponent's phase (2 overwatch because of Asurmen, just remember that you need to overwatch with a squad before you overwatch with avengers). The rest of my points are allocated to 1) indirect weapons, 2) deepstriking units (falcon, warp spiders and swooping hawks). This list would destroy the 3 nightspinners list aand any teleport meta lists.

The phrase "he's not just an inferior Farseer" makes me sad 😢. But I really appreciate you putting forward a completely different way to run him that brings him a little way back to his epic lore. Would love to hear what you think about running a Farseer sky runner n Warlock sky runner conclave n whether it can actually work....I really want it to but haven't found a way to run it yet.
warlock shyrunners need to go down in points first. Put the farseer with wind riders.
Ikr... i think hes so cool but Farseers just have more applications at the moment but that may change with the datalate.
I dont really like the skyrunner conclave just because it is super expensive! It's really cool but not durable enough or hard hitting enough for the cost

I think its mostly because he is neither a lone op nor can he take the phoenix gem both staples in competitive try hard play but honestly he doesn't need either one if positioned correctly. I think really why Eldar have been able to still be strong despite the copius nerfs is due to the depth of our roster. Sadly the lack of Dark Eldar units meant that if the rules werent great the army would struggle. I think you guys are in for a treat this dataslate but we will see :/@@phoenixgamingchris
I think personally best way is a falcon with fire dragons. Having him running around even out of reserve he just dies to indirect. Which the tournament scene has in spades
He has the same issue coming out of a falcon, but i def. agree running him in a falcon is great too. I don't deploy him normally because as you stated indirect in the first turn can kill him before he can do anything
@@ProxyHammer1 I think storm guardians also worth the investment for him. 12 wounds to chew through. Plus they can sticky on their way up the board, auto advance 6" strat. Should be able to get mid board pretty soon or where he needs to be , can also phantasm to either hide or move block as needed , worst case scenario you're using doom on the two fusion and flamers in the squad.

Take him solo and he dies to a whirlwind, Basilisk, night spinner as soon as they shoot
He will not die to a single Whirlwind or basilisk on average rolls. He has 5 wounds which puts him slightly out of those parameters. Also if you put him in reserve he can get everything off before he dies. (if my opponent wants to put 2 basilisks/whirlwinds into him instead of my aspect warriors scoring im all for it!)

Nothing about him screams auto include and I can't justify taking him over a standard Farseer. Having to be so close to use Doom is just asking to be taken out next turn

Yea I've only played a handful of games and I will give him a try, probably with a Warlock Conclave. Would be a different story if he had the lone operative tag though. I have the same problem with Maugan Ra, love the model but it's hard to justify including him these days

Did phantasm nerf affect the strategy you are suggesting or being 1" from the ruin is enough to snipe the character with a mindwar?
You might lose eldrad now :( phantasm is no longer a guarantee...
@@ProxyHammer1 how often it will be that 1" phantasm is enough to ensure safety? As I understood the value of d6 is the number of inches model can move. So is it possible to play around the worst case scenario of 1"?
@@user-si1mp2nr1c 1” will not be enough because Eldrad is on a 32mm which is complete shit… basically you can save him on a 2+ which is still good
In all my games (I nearly always run eldrad) I don't think I've done a single wound with his snipy thing, but he is still amazing, though I wish he felt more like Eldrad really does, I mean this boy is one of the most powerful psykers, and also beats Abbadon in melee

I dont really understand why Mind War is that good against characters, its a single attack that wounds on 4+, most characters have an invulsave and then its a very unrealiable D6 damage and even if you kill the character that leaves Eldrad vulnerable for counterr attacks. Same for doom since it requires visibilty.
More like a 75% wound chance as he can reroll a hit and wound but still not great.
It’s Strength 5 base though with +1 to wound you can use the base Strength against T4 to wound on 2+
Plus fate Dice can auto a 6 for damage. Especially with Branching fates. It's actually one of the most reliable Character sniping tools you will find. But yes him being exposed is a problem. So make sure to have him against a ruin to Phantasm behind it

I think he has way to boring abilities for such a big character. Why doesn't he have Branching fates? He is farseer number Uno. It should be like fielding a Primarch when fielding Eldrad. I will play him though.
you can use Branchin fates around 12p from Eldrad if another farseer is in your army, because he had the "farseer" keyword"
I feel you, but we have the avatar of khaine and pheonix lords who should fill that role (even though they dont really do it)
He is a good beacon for it and that means he can always target himself with it if you have a farseer

What do you think about new nerf? As Eldar player i think 6d6 for strands of fate is too low.... They could have nerfed on 9d6 which is 1/3 less power, but 50%....

Using Eldrad as a beacon for branching fates is allowed? Does gw aproves that? Maybe my playmates doesnt allow that....
It’s RAW fact. He has the farseer keyword so acts as a beacon but another farseer must use the ability
