    Last game vs knights, a BL wave serpent full of firedragons and feugan vs warden, they preformed as expected and were wiped out (although feugan got back up), but the mvp was the wave serpent, it naturally got an overwatch hit and max damage but killed the knight in melee.
    It was glorious

      There is nothing better than killing a knight with the humble wave serpent in melee lol 😂

    I think Wraithblades deserve an honourable mention as well. They're tougher than Wraithguard (axe and shield always), are powerful on the charge, and with less indirect around it's easier to guide and/or fortune them. Since the Spiritseer has a pistol, they can also advance 12" and DTH or whatever if the opponent just lets you have the center.

    • @ProxyHammer1
      @ProxyHammer1  Před 4 měsíci

      I think they are solid too! I almost put them in at 9 but I think they suffer hard in the Cron/DE/ Custodes matchup that we are going to see in competitive play

    A unit of 6 wind riders with sky farseer and a unit of 6 Shroud runners could be a good team for coordinate attacks and objective cleaning.
    With the combo Fuegan, fire dragons and falcons. And scorpions and Karandras, time is coming for agressive Eldar armies ! 😈😈

    Hey ! A bit of insight as a fellow competitive Aeldari player for more than ten years :
    - I don't think Farseer are near auto include TBH. We have already seen list getting top 1 in big Tournament without it because for me it is mandatory if you play the Avatar etc but I think otherwise, giving -1 wounds to an aspect unit or a Fire Prism is meh for 80point. The auto 6 is nice because fewer fate dice but still. Eldrad is very meh. 110 for a doom and 3 dices (which is still +50%) is way too much especially with a Farseer (almost 200 points).
    - Storm Guardian ARE good, ppl should stop bullying then. Their cost is a bit high but you can put your autarch on foot in it, which can permit you a double Grenade statragem for exemple etc. Grenade stratagem will be key in every eldar list Imo. Sticky objectif on the beginning of a phase is excellent. They're better than the Defenders because 110 for a bright lance and one dice per turn is a bit expensive.
    - Fire prism i'm not sold, you have to play at least 2 of them so 360 points for a fragile unit that forces you 2 CP every turn to preserve with fire & fade.
    - Shroud Runners will be seen, they were always good but now they have less competition and they will shine.
    - Fire dragons in falcon are almost everywhere now 2 or 3 units (Hence fire prims is not necessary for me). Scorpion with karandras are also very good in a Falcon and even stronger : Troupe with a Troupe Master or the Visarch cuz they have more reliable DW & Grenade.
    - Spectre I think are not that good, I don't see them in competitve than often because we already have so much anti infantry, the dmg 3 is ok but i think Warp Spiders, even tho 20 points higher, are better (and are on almost, if not every list). They're clearly NOT the best unit in the codex for me by a long shot 😅
    - Rangers auto include. 55 points is just to cheap to pass on. Inflitrate, snipe etc. Extremely efficient unit. Illic is not mandatory but still very VERY good.
    - Death jester with less fate dice, meh.
    - I know you like Dark Reapers (i like them too) but no, they' re are not above Warp spiders not making it into your top 10. They're really meh tbh. I hear your point and maybe i'm wrong but if you want indirect fire now i think the Shadow weaver is really good with his -1 to hit.
    Sorry for the huge text, i really like your content and i just wanted to share this with you. CAREFUL tho about this will be the meta, this will be the top army (even tho Necron are probably going to be) but don't forget that codex will be appear regulary and the dataslate has 2 weeks of existence. Ppl out there, don't be baited to quickly !

      I think you make a lot of good and valid points, while I listed them as “Auto include” it’s kind of just a way of saying these units are extremely good and it would kind of be unfair to include them in the video due to their universal value. I also find that if I’m not running the avatar I’m probably running Storm guardians and throwing fortune on them to skew early game plans in regards to killing them. That’s just me though as the Skyrunner with guide in the right build is great as well.
      About the Spectres I think their primary value lies in the fact that they have great movement and damage against a variety of targets. For example, they can move 14” then another 6” and Fire and fade another 14” which is absolutely insane and because they are infantry they can of course move through ruins. Now Spiders while great I feel won’t be in a safe spot in the late game as their short range makes them more of an early game scorer/control piece but due to the nerf of phantasm they are a little more vulnerable and more susceptible to that dreaded 1-2 inches. Still great though and obviously will still be in lists just the way that I play with them they tend to die before turn 4 scoring, getting a cheeky Overwatch and being a general pain for the opponent to put down, much risker now 😓
      The other thing about Spectres is they are brilliant into DE with D3 which will punch through venoms no problem. Idk I just see them more of a very versatile unit that happens to be good in a number of scenarios

    • @ProxyHammer1
      @ProxyHammer1  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Also as far as Reapers go, at the very least they are an 80pts indirect unit that’s great at killing hiding light infantry or support. The Exarch always hits on 3+ as well which is pretty useful against light scoring units of both Eldar, Dark Eldar, and Tau that you sometimes see playing at a high level. That’s kind of where my mind is at with them. The Shadow Weaver is also a consideration but does cost 125 vs 80

    • @MAtth0KurtCobain
      @MAtth0KurtCobain Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@ProxyHammer1 Yeah i agree, Even tho you can FEP spiders, shoot, OW during opponent turn then fire and fade. It does cost 3 CP but it's insane in term of positioning and mind game. The 6 feets of the Spectre are still great, I just don't think that are THAT good as the top 1 unit in the codex (auto include excluded as you said, fair point).
      I like Storm guardians with the Avatar for the +1 sprint. If one day GW finally reduces the cost of the Warlock, you can have them move & sprint for 14 just like Hawks or Spectre with sticky objectives.
      Farseer are kinda in a rough spot for me because less fate dice and the 12 feet range. Still great and as an Ulthwé fan, i cannot bring myself not playing but I still consider it if i cut the Avatar one day.
      Yeah but reaper are still very squishy and if play them purely for the indirect, you loose the 4 other members of the squad, which means 80 for a tempest shot. If you give line of sight to the 4 other member, they can die really, really quickly. Unfortunately, Shadow Weaver are 125 cuz of the shared profil with the D-Cannon, which is overcost for it but is kinda bulky are you can really hide cuz you ain't loosing nothing compared to the four Dark Reaper as mentioned previously.

    So what I've noticed from the comments and others is that Eldar as an army are back to using army synergy and trickery. Most units don't function well enough on their own to justify their points but when combined do more than the sum of their parts. People taking these combos and opponents knowledge of dealing with the combos will definitely contribute to the mileage you get. You almost could do a top 10 about excellent combos.

    This was a very fun video. Prior to the data slate, I honestly was just wondering if GW was going to totally kneecap the Eldar, and FORCE them down the tree so that people would stop complaining that they were THE top army. I like Eldar a lot, but I've often felt that GW, on the other hand, don't always, since they aren't Marines, or otherwise Imperium, and they've definitely been left to languish before. Welk, they sort of did, but I'm glad to see that the Eldar are still competitive, and they still certainly will win several events. Now, we'll have to see how long they let Necrons rule the worm pile before nerfing them. At least they already have their codex, so they can balance nerfs against that, instead of having to later, after they'd gain four orher ways of playing.😊
    As for the Shadow, I'm glad to still see them topping the list! I remember when they were new, and a cool, but off-point FW unit, a d then faded into obscurity. Then 10e happened, and they were suddenly good...and no one could get them, as FW had already ceased producing them. As they kept performing well, in tbe army everyone wanted see go down, I continued wondering as to their fate. Would simple desire for money cause GW to start making them, again? Would they get shifted over to Legends, since "no model no rules" could kind of apply, and they did worse to Dark Angels, already. Making them "unplayable" would definitely have broken part of the Eldar steam, since the only reason they weren't even more prevalent was that they weren't officially being made, which meant GW wasn't making money, or events wouldn't allow them. I know that their Codex isn't imminent, but I will wonder what their fate will be, once it drops? Will they get pushed to Legends? Will they get new, or at least AVAILABLE official models? Where will Eldar be then, and will this carry them on, or even further rein them in?

    • @ProxyHammer1
      @ProxyHammer1  Před 4 měsíci

      Interesting thoughts about the Spectres! I’ve always thought they should be included in the regular Eldar book and be made in plastic and I think we are as close to that as we will ever be with the merging of Forgeworld and GW onto one webstore.
      I’m also glad Eldar stayed competitive and that GW is taking balance a lot more seriously even if it’s still in tune with their business model, at the end of the day balanced rules means foreseeable growth and sales

The wraithguard that is still engaged would not though because he doesn’t have the ability to shoot while engaged.
      On the other hand if an infantry unit charged in and did the same thing then the wraithguard would not be able to fire at all if even a single wraithguard was still within engagement range because infantry cannot be targeted while engaged. However if they manage to kill all wraithguard in engagement then you can shoot them before consolidating

    Should get me some Windriders. Used to have ancient ones, but I converted those into Shining Spears back in 8th (Spoiler, they're garbage now... sigh...)
    Also, I think what's really keeping Dark Reapers from being good is that the armies you'll be playing against most, be it casually or competitively, are marines. I bought some recently and tried them as a unit of 5 in the backfield in a few games against my Black Templar paying friend. Against regular T4 2W marines they're okay(ish), but anything more elite than that they really can't do enough against. Think the best they ever did was killing like 10ish marines over the course of 4 turns. Considering the cost disparity between those 2 armies right now, we really need our stuff to do more than that.
    They're not terribly efficient scoring units and their damage is only really substantial enough against 1W infantry, which just puts them in a niche we can't really afford to fill right now.

    • @ProxyHammer1
      @ProxyHammer1  Před 4 měsíci

      I mean 10 marines for 80pts is a great trade imho. They are much better against 1 wound infantry but the tempest launcher is worth the 80pts almost by itself!

    • @maxmagnus377
      @maxmagnus377 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@ProxyHammer1 It's a decent trade, but out of 4 games that's the best they've done for me xD 80pts may not seem like much, but you can only spend them once, afterall, and I feel like they'd have been better spent on say, shroud runners.
      Might not get the same amount of damage to marines out of those over the same amount of time, but they're much faster, have assault weapons, and for those 2 reasons are much more dual purpose in regards to secondaries. They bring more wounds to chew through at higher toughness, optional precision plinking against annoying characters, and a much more synergistic ability to support the rest of the army. They're probably even more efficient at light infantry clearing as well.
      I've questioned Reaper's effectiveness in your videos before, and who knows, I might just not be using them as best I can, but I just don't see why you regard them so highly.
