Hey CMT how does a rocker come over for a tribute and play better Country music than half the artists you promote today???
I see some people posting that they didnât like it and heâs not country. I say he doesnât have to be. Heâs awesome just as he is and gave the absolute best performance of the show.
Agree!
He collaborated with loretta a few years ago and made and entire album together...
@@calamitylaine1358 I am a huge country fan but I think Jack white did a hell of a job with this song. Loretta would be proud. They were actually good friends and he produced one of her last albums.
He does bluegrass too -- Cold Mountain soundtrack and at least 1 song with Ricky Skaggs
Wow!! Jack u killed it. I bet I've listened to this 50 times. U could see how much she meant to u. U did a tremendously great tribute to Loretta and I can see her up in heaven smiling real big listening to this. TY đ
Jack is a wonder. They obviously had such a joyful, fun time making music together. We're beyond fortunate that we get to keep the music for always.
You know she was smiling âșïž
I love d seeing Jack and Loretta together! You could tell he has so much respect for her, as did everyone who knew her. I hope that Jack knows Jesus, so heâll get to see her again in Heavenâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
100%! You can see him struggling not to cry during the whole thing! She would definitely be very proud of his rendition of her song.
This is my soul . i am a đč and a coal miners daughter from Kentucky , my husband passed away the same day as Loretta,,, RIP Josiah II 10/4 đSonya's Black đ
Van Lear Rose is one of my all time favorite albums ever. Two geniuses making magic together. RIP Loretta đ
How the hell did he keep it together while singing that song like that? I know my heart is ripped in two listening to and watching this.
Same...
Best performance of the night by far.
Absolutely! The entire audience was blown away.
Jack goddamned sure is country. He's as country as they come and he's earned his honorary cowboy boots. He is one hell of a musician and he loved Loretta and she loved him. He could sing with the best of em and fit right in. That being said, the emotion jack tries to choke back throughout this brings me to tears. You can hear his heartbreaking with the love and admiration he holds for her in his voice. Superb
Hes good but no way is he real country music singer
@@pattihouston9050 Jack isn't a real singer of any kind. he is one of the most passionate and interesting vocalists of the past 25 years
@@pattihouston9050he sings better country than most on country music radio today
@@pattihouston9050 He has some awesome folky songs, though. It's True That We Love One Another, Hotel Yorba, Now Mary, Sugar Never Tasted So Good, Apple Blossom, This Protector. These are just with the white stripes, he has plenty more.
Iâm glad he chose this song. His voice is made for country/blues/bluegrass. Love this!
The passion in performance that Loretta deserved
Yes đ
He gives 150 per cent to everything he does. A great tribute to Loretta.
Jack is very intelligent and knew that Loretta had talent like no other. Jack and Loretta won a grammy for best album Van Lear Rose, They also won a grammy for their duet Portland Oregon. Jack misses his dear friend. I can hear the emotions in his voice as he sings Van Lear Rose. Thank you Jack for honoring Miss Loretta as you have. She would be so proud. Rest in peace beautiful Loretta â€ïž You are missed so much by so many people and you will never be forgotten â€
She was his dearest friend from 2005 all the way up until the end. Both beautiful souls.
I canât stop watching this performance. Jack did an amazing job!
I've watched it all day, too!
Boppin' with the head bopper in the front row!đ
It is great. Iâve watched it many times in 24 hours. đ
3 days later Iâm still watching and fixed it where my husband canât accidentally delete.
@@calamitylaine1358 I'm still there, too! Playing along now. How fun is that??đ
@@teenut7024 Ha, that's Lorettas grandson (and Emmy's brother), David Russell.
The amount of respect evident by the family of Loretta towards Jack is touching. That tribute was something special.
See the fact that Jack White can sing and play anything, he's been around for many years, he deserves a star on the Walk of Fame or something!
Jack is at his peak when he is performing while fighting back tears, what a performer.
We all know you loved Loretta..we can hear it. She loved you too honey. Great job Jack.
Awesome to see Jack White included in this tribute to Ms LorettaâŁïž It's amazing how many musical artists of all different genres her music touched. She was a treasuređ
They were very close and worked together. Jack W produced the great Van Lear Rose collab with her. đč
@@victoriadawn6319 Yes, if anyone should be there, it's Jack.
Jack white was her friend like a adopted son grand child she loved him deeply .and him her he saw how Nashville did her after Do her husband died and he had her to record the song he sang on here .Its about her Mother.. Jack white your the đŁlove u so much
Ruined it for me when he thought I cared about his political beliefs.
Jack White and Sheryl Crow are living proof that Loretta Lynn transcends country music! Dude, you did one hell of a tribute to Loretta! She would love it. Well done, Jack!
Seeing him doing everything he can to hold it together and right at the end you see it click almost as if she said âyouâve got thisâ đ
Mr. White bares his soul with such a vulnerabilityâŠ..his touching tribute to this remarkable lady is simply beautiful.
Who else keeps playing this over and over?
a lot of Jack's live performances have that addictive quality
I do. I bought this CD when it first came out. A masterpiece from beginning to end. His version is so amazing too. What a work of art, Van Lear Rose⊠incredible.
Definitely canât watch and listen enough
Wow! Goosebumpsđź. That was raw emotion and heartfelt. Looks like he was holding back tears. You can tell he really loved her. My favorite performance.đź. Who else is playing this over and over?
This is a tribute to an American Legend by an American Legend.
I'm so glad that he was there to help Ms. Loretta Lynn produce the album Van Lear Rose and this tribute he did was just so Awesome and it was so touching
I was through Van Lear, KY today. If you've never seen it first hand, you have no idea the importance of this music and this song.
Absolutely beautiful! You can see the love he had for Loretta in that performance.â€
Loretta taught Jack about country music and he is so talented. He rocks Van Lear Rose at Loretta Celebration Life.
I am a 46 year old man and this song had me crying like a child. Good job MR. JACK
Van Lear Rose is a beautiful album.
Maybe they will re-release it now
This song always makes me cry when I try to perform it and I could see Jack was struggling. I'm so glad he chose this song and I got to release a few more tears for Loretta while watching this. One of her greatest songs ever. Love you Jack White and band!
Does the same to me... to hear this... especially the way he performed it... don't know why it hurts... BEAUTIFUL song!
Completely agree. We wouldn't even know what "Van Lear Rose" sounded like if it wasn't for Jack White. The story behind the song and the whole album is incredible.
Still one of the greatest collaborations and albums ever made in my opinion. I miss Loretta so. Will never be another.
How very special was that!!??
Thankful and privileged that Jack shared this with all of us!
RiP, Lady Legend, Loretta Lynn.

Chill bumps. You can tell this means so much to Jack White. I canât stop watching this lol
Beautiful love song written by a beautiful Woman Miss Lorreta Lynn.
Jack White performed this song with love and respect for our American Treasure and his friend.
Great Performance.
Jack White sings with the pain of loss and joy of love. He doesnât have Lorettaâs range, and this is a tough song to sing; but his performance is authentic and heartfeltâŠa memory of what they built together. He gave her the last 20% of her career, because great as she was sheâd have been shunted off to minor fairs without the success of Van Lear Rose.
Thatâs what I keep telling the people that saw this and keep posting that heâs not country. Well, duh. He brought new life to Lorettaâs career and Iâm so glad she rolled with it.
@@calamitylaine1358 Johnny Cash said country music was three chords and the truth. Joe Strummer said the same about punk. The thread that runs through all great music is the truth. Van Lear Rose aches with the truth. From the title track to âI Miss Beinâ Mrs Tonightâ to âLittle Red Shoes,â she lays bare her soul and tells the story of her life beyond being a âcoal minerâs daughter.â Itâs one of the great musical works of the 21st century. Jack White couldnât have brought that album from her without his love for her.
Oh yeah, Iâve always heard the great Harlan Howard said that but it doesnât matter. As you say, itâs true. I think Loretta and Jack both brought out something new in each other and thatâs why the album is a masterpiece. I saw an interview where she said she wanted them to do another project but I guess it wasnât meant to be. Iâm happy we have Van Lear.
This is Jack's punk rock style of singing. Not many can sing like him either.
@@calamitylaine1358 Calamity line Jack White was country enough for country
Loretta Lynn was an earth angel
Very moving performance. You could easily see the love they had for one another. Beautiful tribute.
One of my fondest memories
Was sittin' on my daddy's knee
Listenin' to the stories that he told
He'd pull out that old photograph
Like a treasured memory from the past
And say child
This here's the Van Lear Rose
Oh how it would bring a smile
When he talked about her big blue eyes
And how her beauty ran down to her soul
She'd walk across the coal miner's yard
Them miner's would yell loud and hard
And they'd dream of who would hold
The Van Lear Rose
She was the belle of Johnson County
Ohio river to Big Sandy
A beauty to behold like a diamond in the coal
All the miner's they would gather 'round
Talk about the man that came to town
Right under their nose
Stole the heart of the Van Lear Rose
Now the Van Lear Rose could've had her pick
And all the fellers figured rich
Until this poor boy caught her eye
His buddies would all laugh and say
Your dreamin' boy she'll never look your way
You'll never ever hold the Van Lear Rose
She was the belle of Johnson County
Ohio river to Big Sandy
A beauty to behold like a diamond in the coal
All the miner's they would gather 'round
Talk about the man that came to town
Right under their nose
Stole the heart of the Van Lear Rose
Then one night in mid July
Underneath that ol' blue Kentucky sky
Well, that poor boy won that beauty's heart
Then my daddy would look at my mommy and smile
As he brushed the hair back from my eyes and he'd say
Your mama
She's the Van Lear Rose
She was the belle of Johnson County
Ohio river to Big Sandy
A beauty to behold like a diamond in the coal
All the miner's they would gather 'round
Talk about the man that came to town
Right under their nose
Stole the heart of the Van Lear Rose
Right under their nose
Stole the heart of the Van Lear Rose
Jack brought life right back to Loretta. The collaboration between two amazing artists.
Love that kid groovin in the front row.
TIL that Loretta passed... this was a stellar record from a fantastic duo.
Oh he was so close to her. How lovely. Thank you Jack xxx
Goosebumps all over my body. The same Jack White who wrote and sing Seven Nation Army.
Oh jack you nailed her point blank !!!! Such a great memory you shared !!!!!!
I absolutely love his performance... Loretta would be proud!! Thanks for posting.
Most touching and raw tribute. Beautiful Jack.
Absolutely, the best.
She loved jack white as a family member, she loved every one coming from another KY coal miners daughter I know ,she's never forgotten no not gone she just took her wings love her very much â€
Van Lear Rose is a great album and we have Loretta Lynn and Jack White to thank for that.
Such a heartfelt tribute. Jack is a class act. Iâm so thankful they worked together back in the day and got Lorettaâs music out to White Stripes fans like me.
I had never heard of Jack White before but will be following him. Good luck to Jack a great performer!!@
CMT needs MORE Jack White!
You are preaching the pure gospel! Amen
Jack White did a amazing job. You can tell by his voice how much he thought of Mrs Loretta,. She love Jack you could tell by her voice when she talked about him.
Indeed! Sounded to me as though he too was on the edge of tears... ripped my heart right out...
Absolute best performance of the evening
I sat 8 rows back in the middle section dead center during this performance. It was absolutely heart felt and amazing!!!!! Words can't explain the feeling in the Opry while he sang this song.
@Mark honest hello, pretty darn good.
I can only imagine!
Jack surprises me more every day..this man is beautiful in everithing he does!
I think he was really nervous he didnât want to disappoint Loretta. After the first verse he really starts to relax and it all runs together perfectlyđŻ
I'm not sure why my lover who just passed away last week led me to this song but he must have been find of it. I love it too, it's gritty.
Dear Mr. Jack!
Iâm absolutely in love with how you honored Miss Loretta! You have a passion deeper than any Iâve see! My roots are in TN, I was born and live in Detroit!!!
I ABSOLUTELY NEED TO SEE YOU IN CONCERT! That kinda of passion and talent is simply unheard of now a days!
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!
Man!!!! Shaking my head and so proud of you!!!!!
Checking your touring scheduleđ€đ»đ€đ»đ€đ»â„ïž
What a beautiful tribute to Loretta Lynn! I am just in love with Jack Whiteâs rendition of this song. Itâs been stuck in my head for days after seeing/hearing him perform it on tv and now I canât stop watching this! â€
This guy got a new fan..it's me!! đ
Jack did an amazing emotional heart felt performance.
Jack you did Loretta justice. I listen to this almost daily. Beautiful beautiful job
Can't get enough of Jack W singing Van Lear Rose!! Wow!!!! đ
what a performance, totally blown away by this
Best two performances of the night, Jack White and Alan Jackson.
Sittin 2 miles from Van Lear this song hits home. Just beautiful.
Perhaps one of Jack White's best performances. Only fitting it was for someone you can tell he truly loved.
If you're blown away by where this came from, Jack White has been doing country covers since his days in The White Stripes. It's a genre he's always had great respect and love for. Any White Stripes fan can tell ya that.
Jack your a godsend that we all need Loretta is proud of you I just know!
He truly loved Miss Loretta. They had a beautiful project together. May she rest in eternal peace. đč
I cried. Well done Jack, that was awesome
You are so awesome wish you would sing đ more country music God Bless đ You đâŁïž
I wasnt prepared for this. This is stunning.
Can't lie crying watching this this song rip Loretta Lynn your music going live forever
Great job to jack and the rest of the musicians đ. Loretta and Jack were very close. I'm very glad that he was added to the tribute. Well done, everyone. Well done đđŒđđŒ
I just love this man. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert earlier this year, and it was just epic. Such a talent of this generation. I'm glad he got to pay tribute to Loretta. I know they were such good friends.
Bro got me crying
That was great tribute to Loretta I loved it!!
Hopefully this album gets added back to Apple Music and other streaming. No reason has ever been given for its removal.
also, the original video for "Portland, Oregon" disappeared a few years ago. Can't figure that one out either.
They did it to punish Loretta. U know country wouldn't play the record. She won a Oscar on that song and album...
@@sheliadrennan653 I'm interested in hearing more on this, if you have more information. Punish her for what?
I bought the CD when I first came out. So glad I did.
Got to be one of the best songs I've ever heard
I was there, right side balcony, and thought this performance was awesome. Seeing it here I realize it was much better than just awesome. I really got a kick out of grandson Davids excitement of this performance (1:30). He was definitely digging it!
I was wondering who that young man was. He was so enjoying it.
David is my head boppin' soul mate in this vid. I was boppin' right with him. And...always and forever will.đ
How precious!! Never cease your joy for David!!
Best performance. Jack, you are so talented and beyond the pail!
Incredible performance! Incredible album. I canât seem to find it for sale anymore. I bought the CD when it was released and it got a big ole scratch in it. I really want to own it again.
she was his favorite đ
Jack is awesome. I love him and I will always love Loretta Lynn. She was a true treasure to millions of us. Rest in peace Loretta. You will never be forgotten.
Carla Azar is back !!!! Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow I really enjoyed this !
Sang with such passion !
Loretta was definitely smiling from above & has to be so proud of you Jack !
Makes me cry every time...I love this so much and I can't stop watching đ
Amazing!!! I've been searching everywhere so I can buy this rendition of Jack White, without luck. Every performance was wonderful. This stood out most for me. I watched Loretta's Celebration of Life mainly because of my Mama. Loretta is her favorite! She is in a nursing home and has Alzheimer's, but somehow remembers the majority of lyrics from "Don't Come Home A Drinkin'". I hope this is released so we can purchase it!
You canât even buy download the Van Lear Rose album with Loretta anymore. I wish I could get a download a Jack performing it but I doubt heâll repeat it. I think it was strictly to pay homage to Loretta in that moment.
I have it, I got it when it was first released. Iâm sure it can be found.
I found a used one on Amazon. I never thought I'd pay $35 for a used CD but I really wanted it. It's too bad they pulled it. I have no idea why they did that.
I canât stop listening to this
I wish this was on spotify so i could listen to it all the time. As well as the raconteurs version of bang bang
Jack White is an amazing performer
Was so AWESOME really enjoyed im a new fan of Jacks Loretta had to b smilin Great job đđ
I sooooo wish that Jack White would record this as a single and do all counrty album. It would be beautiful!!
The album these two made together is one of her best in my opinion.
I agree
Best performance of the night, hands down.
Was there. Seen it live. Excellent performance
What a loss! She will be deeply missed.đ Good on you Jack for such a heartfelt and sorrowful rendition.đ„șđ„°
I love the fact that Jack White can cross so many musical genres. Sometimes it's hard to imagine that this is the same guy that did Seven Nation Army and Ball and a Biscuit. I also thought that he was great in Cold Mountain.
Amazing,I keep watching it over and over
He is favorite. Awesome.
