- Israeli forces have recovered the bodies of three hostages from Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say.
The bodies were those of Shani Louk, Amit Buskila, and Itzhak Gelerenter, it said. The IDF said they had been murdered on 7 October and their remains taken back to Gaza.
Local media reported that the bodies were found in a Hamas tunnel.
About 1,200 people were killed in an unprecedented attack when Hamas gunmen burst into Israel - they took 252 others back to Gaza as hostages.
After the 7 October attacks, Israel launched an offensive in Gaza that has killed more than 35,000 people, mostly civilians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Sadly there have been many reports of the IDF destroying vehicles containing hostages heading back into Gaza, and shooting hostages, due to an IDF belief that killing hostages is better than than enemies succeeding in holding hostages. Its a zero tolerance directive called the Hannibal Directive. It was supposed to be taken out of use in 2016 but there are multiple reports and military confessions of it being widespread on 7th Oct. This includes an IDF officer speaking opening about burning down properties which had terrorists trapped inside, that also contained multiple captive civilians. This does not exonerate Hamas, to be clear. It was a terror attack.

The discussion in this war is absurd.
First. Israel acted selflessly to live in peace with the Palestinians in Gaza. It was more than a decade ago when Israel itself ordered Israeli citizens who had lived there for decades to literally leave their homes. The first thing the Palestinians did in return was to elect a government that enshrined the goal of destroying Israel in the constitution. The elected government followed through with its promise. Since its founding, thousands of rockets have flown into Israeli settlement areas. Dozens of civilians died in terrorist attacks. Millions of aid funds - intended for civilian institutions - were misused to sponsor this terrorism. October 7th was just what Humus had been doing for years.
Secondly. Israel behaved more humanely in this conflict than any other conceivable party in any imaginable conflict. It allowed Palestinians to work in Israel, receive medical care or even migrate to Israel. During war, they warn civilians where their military is operating. They admit collateral damage and apologize for it.
The situation is clear. In no other conflict the responsibility for the suffering has been so one sided and clear - in no other conflict have the perpetrators been held accountable so weakly. People with voice and power who claim to reject war and the nature of war have a duty to unequivocally name the culprit of this war and do everything in their power to eliminate them. Everything else is responsibility for the resulting suffering and is as history has proved continuing this madness.

Do we also know the names of their dead babies, their humiliated grandparents and their murdered children? Do we know their individual dreams, friends, school reports? Palestinian lives are usually mentioned by number: 40,000 deaths, more than half of which are small children. Not names, but numbers. This indicates how we distribute our compassion..

Good question, modern Israel only exists as a consequence of the western allies carving up the middle east after WWII. The residents were a bit miffed about this and fought to defend the lands they have lived on for generations.
Israel 'defended' itself by taking land and establishing illegal settlements, which most of the globe agree are illegal, however Israel for some reason say the world is wrong and they are legitimate.
Fast forward 50 years and billions of dollars of military US guilt funding for not joining WWII sooner and helping to defend the Jews from the Holocaust and you have a massively funded Israeli state fighting a Muslim minority trying to regain their land.
If a foreign state took your land and forced you out would you just roll over and say OK ? Even harder if the countries that created this whole mess brand you terrorist.
Its easily solved, get rid of the hardliners on both sides, go back to the lines drawn 50+ years ago, move out of illegally taken land and recognise the state of Palestine. Only one side are refusing to do most of this.
