i had an '83 lx touring sedan and it was by far the best car i ever owned. quick, comfy and good on gas. i drove it across the country and back twice and never had any problems.

Those power oscillating dash vents surprised me especially for a 1983 car that isn't a Mercedes.

I find it very strange that this year's 626 has a slower 40-55mph time than last year's less powerful Mazda 626.

In Australia, not only were these sold as the Mazda 626, but Ford Australia also sold a version called the Ford Telstar in 4dr sedan and 5dr hatch form. While the Mazda was an import, the Ford version was built in Australia. The Ford Telstar was offered in many other countries, like Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia, Cyprus, Indonesia and Taiwan just to name a few.

... loved the Telstar Ghia’s elegant electronic dash 😊

The Telstar was also available in The Philippines from 1983 to 1984 when Ford left the country that year due to Marcos administration pulled out notable car models such as Ford, Toyota, and GM.
