- Case 274: Benjamin Amato
** Content warnings: Child victim **
On November 16 2001, two state troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police arrived to conduct a welfare check at the Poconos Mountains home of 52-year-old Benjamin Amato. Friends and neighbours had reported their concerns after noticing Ben’s car in his driveway for several days but no sign of Ben himself.
What they found inside the house led to an investigation full of twists, with one question at the core - could Ben’s ex-girlfriend, Cheryl Kunkle, have something to do with Ben’s death?

Like Mother, like son 🤷🏼♀️what a dysfunctional family
Saturday morning and an hour long Casefile. Sign me up, thank you. I hope everyone has a good day.
This happened 4 hours away from my town but still made the news in Pittsburgh. Wow mom and son doing life with out parole. What a great mom!!!
I think Cheryl committed all the murders.
I kind of lean that way myself!
Mother and son had the market on murder cornered in that part of the world. What a story!! Thank you, Casefile. Splendid and stellar as always!! No other true crime podcast even comes close.❤
Am glad Cheryl got life in prison. Shame about her son Gregory. Like mother, like son... Poor son of Ben... Hopefully, he's growing up in a more healthy environment.
He should already be grown. 20 something. This happened in 2001.
Ps: I just checked the child was born in 1998. He is 26 years old now .
What a piece of work she was! That son of hers lost out on both nature and nurture😢 and those poor folk paid the price
Thank you. A well told, horrible crime story I had not heard before.
Holy eff, this is in my backyard and I have no recollection of this happening. For a kind of small place, there have been an insane amount of murders here.
Wow, 😲
They're everywhere watch yourself
I wait 😵💫patiently for every episode; and rewatch many many more times than I’ll admit 🤪🇨🇦👌
Just got off work!! Wondering what the hell to do.... Can't escape my elation that casefile is here to deliver quality content. Right on time!
Coming from Santa Barbara California!
Nothing beats the sound of Casey's voice telling a story for someone who can't do it themselves on a Saturday evening. Thankyou 🇭🇲
I work 12 hour nights, I love these kinds of podcasts. They give me something to listen to while I try to fall sleep in the mornings.
Cheryl .. Mother and Humanitarian of the Year.. 🙄🙄🙄

Listening from Valencia.❤
G'day guys, great variety of listener's out there, where you tuning in from? Regards from Melbourne Aust🦘
@johnmichaelfitzgerald3052 Hello there from country NSW Australia, obviously! Take care now.
Listening from country NSW Australia.
Hello from Texas❤
Well done, as always! Horrific people.... what a case 💔
I really appreciate how neutral and informative you are with these videos. I see a lot of police worship and judgement of mental illness in true crime type videos, but with you, it's just the facts. What a horrific situation, and I hope the families and friends of the victims are safe and supported nowadays.
Awesome case coverage, as always😉. Good job! You always leave me wanting more!
I ❤️ weekly casefile podcasts! Thank you for all the time and work you put into these!
Best show on youtube
To come home and find your daughter and granddaughter dead!!! Omg how awful. RIP to the murder victims. 😢
Mother of the year
Cheryl just put the last nail in the coffin with her stupid comments about planting blood spatter evidence to frame her. GUILTY!
Happy day's CASEFILE just dropped 😎🙏👊👍✌🇬🇧
I think they both unalived the mother and child but Ben was just her. The way he was so quick to throw his mother under the bus was very telling. The whole family is a nasty mess in my opinion glad theyre where they belong
❤❤ love this show 😂😮
Thanks Matey 👍
Well told thx
Life hack: if you don't want kids, don't have unprotected sex
in horrible custodial cases such as this, first refusal MUST go to the victims family. You killed a parent and took the child away from the victims family?! NOPE! How wrong can things get.
One of the best on You tube. Two thumbs up👍👍
I’m shocked at how proactive the police seemed in this case.
Geez.....what a horrible story. Mother of the freaking year. /Smh/
Exactly. Had no qualms setting up her son. Lovely.
Oh, this woman is a winner, isn’t she?
I fully believe she killed the baby and the mother as well.
I do believe you're right. What an evil monster! She deserves a cell for life and thankfully, she got one. Mother and Grandmother of the year!. What kind of woman drowns her own baby granddaughter? I was a young mum and a grandmother shortly after my 40th birthday, and I tell you straight, if ANYONE or ANYTHING threatened my grandson, there would have been Hell to pay. He meant everything to me. Sadly, thanks to my daughter, his mother, I haven't had an opportunity to spend much time with him for several years due to her constant lies about me, poisoning his mind against me. Hell, be 19 in a matter of days, but I will always cherish the memories of our first 10 years together. Sadly, he's the only living grandchild I have, and my other 4 children don't want children either. I apologise for waffling on, and I'm going now! Thanks for reading.
The question I have is this: did anyone in this story ever buy any music made by Rage Against The Machine?
Enjoyed the video, good narrator but it's a podcast and should state so.
Before I watch this, can someone please tell me whether this is a cold case or not? I don't want to waste my time if this is an unsolved/cold/mysterious case. The video description didn't help.
Not a cold case. 😊
@@mercy1990 thanks
And the boot print gave it all away... How unprofessional!
Can you please help me! My daughter Aliyah Wilson was found HUNG in Houston and POLICE asked NO questions! She was holding a cellphone! I have lots of evidence and dates! Police said case is closed and will remain closed! They won't even return my calls!
So so so sorry for your loss. I hope somebody hears you real soon. You're in my thoughts xxx
Do you have any money to hire a private investigator? Also, try taking your case to the media.
I have no money for a PI I've tried Houston news they seem interested but as soon as I give them police report # I never hear from them again! My news says it is out jurisdiction
So sorry for your loss my dad was found hung by suicide tho I am 11 and it is very upsetting
@@amandakolosche6962 thank you! I am sorry for your loss! My daughter was MURDERED I have evidence but police won't listen! Aliyahs sisters are 12 and 10 🙂
Crime is so fascinating.
It's easy really, read The New Testament, all in there, all the sins, all the lacking of love, that causes these crimes to be committed. Peace and love, also, goodwill for those out there, who understand good and evil.
2 Timothy 3:1-9
@@texastea5686 Thank you. And, very true. Peace and goodwill.
Take your religion somewhere else.
