I really don't see the issue with Sakaguchi's stance. His basic attitude is simply that he wants to focus on new games and new franchises. Which is fine. I'm all for sequels or remasters of old classic games but there is nothing wrong or bad with him wanting to keep his focus on making new things instead of old. It just means people can see new IPs from him rather than just rehashes of old ones which is a good thing for JRPG fans.

A lot of people tend to forget that Sakaguchi is the type of creator that doesn’t try to look back at the past and is forward with new ideas. While many fans have different opinions on the recent Final fantasy games, Sakaguchi on several occasions has praised FF14, FF15, and FF16 because of how different the games are and in his words back in 2016, “Final fantasy I know is the one that constantly seeks new challenges and never sitting comfortably in any given place”. And while I’m one of those fans that appreciates FFx-2, I can admit that it was one of the many reasons why Sakaguchi left Square Enix years ago. So he isn’t too concerned with revisiting his past work and is looking to make new stuff which yeah his opinion is not wrong when you look at it from his perspective

Seriously, i believe sakaguchi's words are good news. I prefer him focusing in new games. Sakaguchi is not young at all, so if he can bring some new masterpiece before retiring, that will be awesome. After he retires, it will always be time to remaster or remake old games By the way, Ys oath of felgana doesn't look at all like the original xd. Ys 3 is the black sheep of the ys series, being a 2d rpg, and being infamous for its crazy difficulty (you had to grind in the first screen due to adol dying 2 hits by garbage enemies). I loved the original anyways (was my first ys game) and I'm excited for the re-release of the remake in switch
With all do respect, we can still play Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon on the current consoles...so it's not like these games are 'lost'. Contrary to popular belief, not EVERY older game needs to have a remake/remaster. Bottom line, the reason so many are wanting remakes/remasters of older games, is because the newer games made today are crap...they're nothing but boring cookie cutter games that are identical to the last dozen games the developer released. Instead of remaking older games, these developers need to relearn how to make actual NEW games that are good, and brings back the same feeling as those older games gave us. If they are unable to do that, it's inevitable what's going to happen in the industry. I can play Lost Odyssey/Blue Dragon on my Series X...so sorry, but we don't 'need' a remake/remaster. Instead of wasting resources on old games...actually learn how to make new games that are good. Like Chrono Trigger or Wind Waker...we don't need a remake/remaster...all we need is a simple port. Gamers today have simply become too spoiled, and want a new coat of paint for every single game ever made.
To add to this, they also don’t need the original director to port it or remaster it. The game itself is made already-the creator shouldn’t have to be involved in it being brought to modern hardware
Nah, there are plenty of great new games. I just want a port of Lost Odyssey to Steam, so I can buy it officially and play it through that. It's really that simple.
