Totally agree not seeing what ever they saw here. Lance threw a skip ball on what essentially a long hand off. Go watch Fields tape night and day throws against real competition even Trubisky played tougher competition in college.

I watch this and all I can think is how athletic he is BUT I'm nervous about him taking these hits in the NFL and throwing the ball in the NFL.
I feel like all I saw were easy throws behind the line of scrimmage, and him rushing. He did have a few great throws but I feel like he needs to get better at progressing through his reads. I didn't see much of that, more like 1 read throws. This would surprisingly be good if he goes to the 49ers because I feel like that's what they do.
Anyway I HOPE he does well in the NFL. I would rather take Justin Fields though.

I think one big reaon niners took him is he took almost all of his collegiate snaps out of the huddle. none of that shotgun play action stuff. he is coached and built so far to play perfectly into a west coast system. and shanahan is a great coach. I think lance could at least initially outperform lawrence and fields at least until they learn their respective playbooks better.

He doesn't hold on to the ball as long as Kaepernick. Might be less accurate but I don't know what Kap looked like as a freshman.

It's funny people saying hes a better athlete than Fields. Just imagine 6-3 4.40 vs these players which would be Big Ten equipment managers. I see him either throwing to his first read, or not even pretending to go through his progressions and just throwing the checkdown... his deep ball isn’t always great either. He has potential, and the 9ers have a great coaching staff, but idk man... I don’t see it. (I’m not paid to make these decisions anyway, so)

My question is, why didn’t he play in the FBS? Trey Lance reminds me of those boxers who get a title shot by fighting a bunch of mediocre fighters. They get their record to 40-0 and then get beat up when they actually fight somebody good. Trey Lance was not a top 5 pick talent, he never played against consistently good FBS opponents. But good for him, he’ll get paid a lot of money for being a below average starting quarterback.
