Dean loved Cas in every definition of the word. Destiel is not some giant fanatical delusion. Their story IS and always will be, the greatest love story of all time, because they are the only couple in HISTORY who didn't need a kissing scene to prove the extent of their love for each other.
Shit, that rattling breath at the end just crushes me. No one tell me that Dean doesn't feel the same. This man is a shell of who he is after realizing his one happiness has just been taken away again and for the final time. Compare it to all the times he lost Cas, and he fights to bring him back. Here, he just slumps and lets the grief overtake him. That is pitiful how he just crumbles. Give it more time, he would be in a heap on the floor, mourning the loss of his angel on top of and in spite of the imminent task of killing God altogether.
Sooo, it's been confirmed by Dick Speight Jr that the handprint on the trenchcoat was Jensen's idea. That that whole scene was deliberately, meticulously engineered as a Dean/Cas moment. That no one in that room was unaffected as it all played out. How do we feel? Tell me again that Jensen wanted to opt out of this scene.
yeah everyone keeps saying jensen was uncomfortable in it when most of the show is orchestra by the actors they take ideas and run with them they are free to do what they want. jensen isn’t uncomfortable with the idea of dean/cas they joke about it all the time.

I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. You know Dean has stopped functioning at Cas' confession and death by that last scene. That has always been the case when he loses Cas. And Dean is THAT repressed. Dean dying inside everytime he loses Cas is romantic love at the rawest level. I will take the Destiel flag to the end of this show. After watching this I think back the and I think Cas always felt this way towards Dean but always knew that Dean didn't see him the same way so Cas has been dealing with knowing he can't do much about their relationship. yeah people forget that dean was already terrible at showing emotions and the more he endured the harder it was for him to process and just hearing this man he held so close for 11 years loves him and then “dies” without ever being able to tell him how he feels how do you expect him to process him. he broke down into raw emotion for the first time in the entire series, he is hurting deeply and genuinely.
I'll never forgive spn for not appreciating castiel enough, or at all. He was the most selfless character in the show, sacrificed everything for the people he loved. He deserved better. They better bring him back for the finale.

Honestly, I stopped watching Supernatural awhile ago cuz it was just taking a lot out of me to keep up with fifteen seasons, but Destiel going canon gives me the motivation I needed to get back into the show. :D Even if its sad :(

And then he said 'I love you' And I cheered. And then he died. And I couldn't cry because Cas was happy, with his choice and saying it to Dean. It's the best ending Cas could get.

Yeah that's the impression I got. I thought Jensen handled it really well. How else would you truly react in this case? All he can focus on is losing his best friend again, with no way to fix it. I'd be in shock too with no idea what to do.

I used to be a big fan of romance novels and romantic movies. then Destiel happened. Now, I get nauseous watching two strangers pretend to be in love with each other after a couple weeks of kissing, sex and hot dates. All those happy smiles and kisses in the rain and stupid cliche tropes....It all just seems so.... fake. so shallow. Compared to Dean and Cas.

yeah it fucking sucks looking back, they killed every female character bcus they suck at creating good, well thought out female characters, and then get surprised when it all starts looking a little too gay, and so they don't know what to do with this character, so they just kill him off after giving just a little bit of fan service. just enough to not get called homophobic, but not enough to actually make it fully gay. Jensen is a master of microexpressions. He took from the script what he could and made the absolute most of it. It's in the narrowing of his eyes, the swallow like there's a lump in his throat, the furrow of his brow as he shifts from confusion to denial that he's about to lose Cas (whether you view that romantically or as a best friend, it's still huge, dude's about to die). After, he sits on the floor for who knows how long and does what? Sobs. Feels hollow and alone. Curls into himself. Anyone who understands Dean as a character (and nobody does more than Jensen Ackles) would understand why he behaves the way he does, why he freezes, why it takes him time to process, why he crumbles the moment it's over.
Why? I just think Dean was shocked and everyone they care about is dying. Cas is saying he loves him to save him so like maybe i am missing something. And like is it canon did he mean it i love you as i am in love with you? Im just confused :/

The script says "On Cas" before this bit. In script writing this means this is Castiel's POV, not Dean's. (It's a cue for the actors and director). So that means Cas BELIEVES Dean can't reciprocate, but Cas doesn't need him to. Just by saying he loves Dean, that is enough for Cas. We still have to see what Dean's pov is! :)

I remember when the Dean prayer scene was the most romantic I thought Destiel was ever going to get and then we're hit with an actual love confession 😭 I just want Cas to be alive and live happily ever after with Dean now, after that confession. Cas deserves it. And Dean deserves it too. They'd be really happy together. I'm going to take this moment, and use it to slap anyone who says Dean wouldn't have reciprocated. Dean DID reciprocate, in more ways than ANY "canon" straight couple in the history of romantic relationships. If a sexy kiss is what it takes to make a couple 'officially canon,'.... that explains why I have no interest in any romances outside of Destiel.
The depth of emotion that Dean is showing in his prayer is not just love for a "best friend", that's a romantic emotional depth. Sam and Cas are BFFs. Dean and Cas are Destiel.
People say dean looks uncomfortable with this but to he looks like a man who just realized he had feelings for another man and he wants more time with him

Y'all cannot tell me that this scene isn't depressing af. Even if it's gay or not gay or whatever, it is Cas finally expressing his feelings and happiness to Dean. I heard that Dean barely reacted but honestly I like the more subtle reaction because it hits harder. He watches on his best friends basically say goodbye and is prepared to die/be gone forever and he is in shock. He can't stop this, he doesn't know how to stop this.
Yeah that's the impression I got. I thought Jensen handled it really well. How else would you truly react in this case? All he can focus on is losing his best friend again, with no way to fix it. I'd be in shock too with no idea what to do.

I think that no matter if Dean or Cas confessed first, the moment that word slipped, right at that moment is when the Empty was going to come. It knew who Castiel loved, and Castiel knew exactly how his happiness looked like. Maybe that's why he interrupted Dean, because even if it was him hopping or the real thing, he couldn't risk it, not yet.

Cas literally chose to give his life for the man he loves. The theme of the show is that love can save the world. Cas's love saved the world. It's poetic yet so depressing.
I used to be a big fan of romance novels and romantic movies. then Destiel happened. Now, I get nauseous watching two strangers pretend to be in love with each other after a couple weeks of kissing, sex and hot dates. All those happy smiles and kisses in the rain and stupid cliche tropes....It all just seems so.... fake. so shallow. Compared to Dean and Cas.
I’m sorry but to everyone who says “why doesn’t Dean say I love you too”, it’s because it’s a lot to process. He was getting his head around what Cas is saying and what is happening around him! That’s what I took from that scene anyway!

yeah it fucking sucks looking back, they killed every female character bcus they suck at creating good, well thought out female characters, and then get surprised when it all starts looking a little too gay, and so they don't know what to do with this character, so they just kill him off after giving just a little bit of fan service. just enough to not get called homophobic, but not enough to actually make it fully gay. I wish the show got cancelled a long time ago (and maybe picked up by another network who wouldve had the guts to actually let their characters be gay, and not immediately kill them, and also create a better story line jfc the last seasons were rough). I started watching this show when I was 11/12, and have a lot of nostalgia for it, but knowing where the story will go, I can't rewatch it (might sound stupid, but it sucks).
Didn't the dialogue from Dean's prayer bother anyone? He was so mean to Cas thru the whole episode and then "I don't know why I get so angry," is what my abuser said to me right before I dumped his ass after he had spent an hour yelling at me.
There's a difference in degree, intent, and circumstances. Not to mention desire to be different, to change.

It’s poor editing. There’s a take where Jensen is crying, only part of which was used.
Jensen is a master of microexpressions. He took from the script what he could and made the absolute most of it. It's in the narrowing of his eyes, the swallow like there's a lump in his throat, the furrow of his brow as he shifts from confusion to denial that he's about to lose Cas (whether you view that romantically or as a best friend, it's still huge, dude's about to die). After, he sits on the floor for who knows how long and does what? Sobs. Feels hollow and alone. Curls into himself. Anyone who understands Dean as a character (and nobody does more than Jensen Ackles) would understand why he behaves the way he does, why he freezes, why it takes him time to process, why he crumbles the moment it's over.
jensen did dean and dean was done perfectly.
Jensen did great in this scene! He was even the person to suggest that they put a bloody handprint on his shoulder over the old burned one.

The script says "On Cas" before this bit. In script writing this means this is Castiel's POV, not Dean's. (It's a cue for the actors and director). So that means Cas BELIEVES Dean can't reciprocate, but Cas doesn't need him to. Just by saying he loves Dean, that is enough for Cas. We still have to see what Dean's pov is! :)
After watching years and years of supernatural this confession made me feel like ot is a brotherly love that you totally admired we all know what cas and the family got into and this just makes sense this is so pure man
