The depth of emotion that Dean is showing in his prayer is not just love for a "best friend", that's a romantic emotional depth. Sam and Cas are BFFs. Dean and Cas are Destiel.
"Ok Cas, I need to say something" "You don't have to say it. I've heard your prayer" ------- "I love you" "Don't do this, Cas" I think that no matter if Dean or Cas confessed first, the moment that word slipped, right at that moment is when the Empty was going to come. It knew who Castiel loved, and Castiel knew exactly how his happiness looked like. Maybe that's why he interrupted Dean, because even if it was him hopping or the real thing, he couldn't risk it, not yet.

I’m sorry but to everyone who says “why doesn’t Dean say I love you too”, it’s because it’s a lot to process. He was getting his head around what Cas is saying and what is happening around him! That’s what I took from that scene anyway!
When did the show become a cheesy ass soap opera? Also no "I love you" back with not a kiss either? Dean has shown Cas affection so many more times compared, yet writers know this but still didn't fully commit smh.

When he started to confess Dean looks like he knows what Cas is about to say so he is like why are you telling me this now instead of years ago?

Dean loved Cas in every definition of the word. Destiel is not some giant fanatical delusion. Their story IS and always will be, the greatest love story of all time, because they are the only couple in HISTORY who didn't need a kissing scene to prove the extent of their love for each other.

I used to be a big fan of romance novels and romantic movies. then Destiel happened. Now, I get nauseous watching two strangers pretend to be in love with each other after a couple weeks of kissing, sex and hot dates. All those happy smiles and kisses in the rain and stupid cliche tropes....It all just seems so.... fake. so shallow. Compared to Dean and Cas.

Dean DID reciprocate, in more ways than ANY "canon" straight couple in the history of romantic relationships. If a sexy kiss is what it takes to make a couple 'officially canon,'.... that explains why I have no interest in any romances outside of Destiel.

Cas literally chose to give his life for the man he loves. The theme of the show is that love can save the world. Cas's love saved the world. It's poetic yet so depressing.
I'm not up to date with the series so I have no idea what exactly is going on, but... ARE YOU F*CKING TELLING ME DESTIEL WENT CANON AND THEN CAS DIES???
Didn't the dialogue from Dean's prayer bother anyone? He was so mean to Cas thru the whole episode and then "I don't know why I get so angry," is what my abuser said to me right before I dumped his ass after he had spent an hour yelling at me.
There's a difference in degree, intent, and circumstances. Not to mention desire to be different, to change.
I'm only on season 4 and Cas has only been in like three episodes so I have no clue what's going on but this is the most heart wrenching thing I've ever watched A continuation of my journey watching Supernatural:

Normally I don't reply to these, but... yep. Here I go. Their relationship's romantic angle has officially been recognized in the story as of episode 15x18, which is why you are annoyed. If it wasn't clear, enough to annoy the homophobes, then bigots like you wouldn't feel the need to complain about it on the internet, on a video titled "Destiel goes canon". Castiel has confessed romantic love to Dean, and that is canon. Dean didn't have an opportunity to reply, but he is heavily implied to feel the same based on his reaction, plus 12 years worth of story and character development. Implied on Dean's side, irrefutable on Castiel's side. You don't have to like it, but queer characters and their canon love stories do not "sully" anything. Especially not here, when episode 15x18 only recognized something that's been developing between these two characters since season 4, in this 15 season show. Recognizing the romance between them does not sully their relationship because it's not changing anything that's happened between them. It doesn't sully or ruin anything. Let me add: They've been acting like they're married since at least season 12.
I wish they would've at least seen each other at the very end but I'm happy with this. It's different from a happily ever after. I can't tell if it is a one-sided love or Dean just doesn't know his own feelings yet but either way I'm glad they did this. I know lots of people are upset with that but I like it.

Y'all cannot tell me that this scene isn't depressing af. Even if it's gay or not gay or whatever, it is Cas finally expressing his feelings and happiness to Dean. I heard that Dean barely reacted but honestly I like the more subtle reaction because it hits harder. He watches on his best friends basically say goodbye and is prepared to die/be gone forever and he is in shock. He can't stop this, he doesn't know how to stop this.
Yeah that's the impression I got. I thought Jensen handled it really well. How else would you truly react in this case? All he can focus on is losing his best friend again, with no way to fix it. I'd be in shock too with no idea what to do.

There were some parts of this that were really cheesy but you cannot tell me that dean crying in a ball in the corner ignoring his phone bc he’s processing what just happened and everything cas said isn’t him reciprocating feelings. No he didn’t say it, but this man has had the ability to process emotions beaten out of him for the last 15 seasons give him a minute y’all

I remember when the Dean prayer scene was the most romantic I thought Destiel was ever going to get and then we're hit with an actual love confession 😭 I just want Cas to be alive and live happily ever after with Dean now, after that confession. Cas deserves it. And Dean deserves it too. They'd be really happy together. Edit: They deserved so much better... 💔 RIP Dean and Cas 😔 I hope you meet again in Heaven, since Cas is apparently free in Heaven now too (thanks to Jack). I can't understand this, it hurts so much. They deserved to live.💔😔

I'll never forgive spn for not appreciating castiel enough, or at all. He was the most selfless character in the show, sacrificed everything for the people he loved. He deserved better. They better bring him back for the finale.

The one thing he wanted was for him to be human. He loved Dean and Sam as family and brothers So... yea you pretty much imagined it
