It's so surreal to see a piece of hardware becoming useless all of a sudden, not because it's broken or it isn't powerful enough anymore, but simply because the company producing it decides that "now you have to buy another one", and people still buy it...
I've been using opencore on my Macbook air 2012 for some time know and really love it. I also have an iMac 2008 running opencore no issues at all as long as you don't expect anything to much for a 15 year old computer
I have that exact same MacBook Sam color and storage and everything and I’m thinking about updating it with the patched and over used it on an older MacBook and it really doesn’t have any errors or anything. Thanks for the video!
I haven’t had any flickering issues, audio issues, or port issues! I did have a WiFi issue once, but that was resolved with a re-deploy from OpenCorePatcher app.
I have the same Mac but with the i5 2.0Ghz and 8GB RAM, how is the performance on the Sonoma? Does the Mac seem affected in terms of performance in the transition from Monterey to Sonoma? I am now using this Macbook as a daily.
Can I install Sonoma on a MacBook Pro 2017 touch bar in the same way? I tried to install, completely formatted the disk before installation, after installation the touch bar and auto-brightness did not work.
If i just upgrade without doing a clean wipe (disk utility), will it affect the performance ? I've used opencore before on my macbook pro late 2013 but i always did a clean install, now i had 2016 touchbar macbook pro, but i wanted to keep my data and files.
hi, i had upgraded to mmacos sonoma using oclp but their were 2 apps which were allowed to run by default on startup and one was named after some individual programmer-- which raised security questions, can banking apps be used on these oclp patched laptop, just wondering.
It gets the latest patches and updates from within the official Software Update screen, but I’m not sure if they are official updates since they have the patch overlayed into them.
No, you won´t lose anything if you specifically select just "Install MacOS Sonoma" shown at 9:22 and NOT the last option using Disk Utility (where you can wipe your drive for a clean install). I also have a 2017 MBP and I just upgraded to Sonoma using that second option go "Install MacOS Sonoma" and all my files and apps were preserved, so was only an upgrade.

It's so surreal to see someone talking about obsolete macs, and see MacBook in this body on the screen
I agree! It is running flawlessly using OpenCorePatcher. I’ve been testing it out for a few months to make sure before I made a video on it.

help me understand something, does installing macOS on an unsupported Mac update the drivers?
It should update to the latest drivers that are supported on the OS you have installed, yes!
