Yeah Laura was actually one of the fan characters that I liked the most out of all the OC's I saw,
so I thought she would be a good example to set for others in this video.

My OC used to look like a green Sonic but because I had finally stuck with the design I had I refused to believe it was a recolor. Really it was just a green Sonic with a T-shirt and shorts, a slightly smaller tail and no back-spines

Step how to make a real sonic oc
1.think what is your favroit animal and if you want to use it as an oc.
2.get a simple formate to use to start your drawing or use pics of characters body shape just DONT draw any hair or cloths with detail yet.
3.start drawing some simple ears and tails then slowly give texture and make it nicer if you have trouble just use pics of ears or tails for help or go free style i dont care.
4.start drawing the eyes,mouth,and nose dont worry about colour yet.
5.draw simple cloth outlines and then when its simple slowly add texture and feutures to it by know the character will look more normale.
6.know this is when you can start drawing hair (Hint:use shapes first then start to turn it into hair conecting and erasing any unwanted lines).
7.yay your finnish all you nead to do is colour yay fun fun but before you colour it in you may want some coppies just in case of axidents like dark lines you cant eraze or smoges trust me if you make mistacts easly this will save your drawing yay just dont forget the name,backstory,and powers.

I hate it when people say "the fandom ruined the game for me". No it didn't. They're 2 different things. The product and the people are different.
The people influence the product, and vice versa.
+That Guy I can understand where you're coming from, but unfortunately it seems like the Sonic Franchise is the one exception where the fandom CAN ruin the games for people.
Take for example this whole original character thing. People get really annoyed with fans making all of these poorly designed and unoriginal fan characters, and they've got every right to their opinion. But the problem is when people look at official Sonic characters like Shadow and Silver and start saying things like "Oh, look at them, they're just as bad as Sonic fan characters" or "Shadow and Silver are just fan characters that got a budget and were made official!" Now because of this, everyone starts hating on practically every character since Tails came along, and Sega have to appease these fans by making Sonic the only playable character. Heck, even Sonic himself doesn't get off scott free with people whining about his design and personality because it doesn't live up to these "fan's" insanely high standards. Even the new customisable character in Sonic Forces is getting hated on and made fun of for no legit reason other than it reminds people of this weird stigma that only seems to exist in the Sonic Fandom.
This kind of negative thinking is not the way forward and it really can hurt the franchise.

My oc is from a parallel dimension, and parallel Eggman edited her so that she had super high IQ. (I'm not saying it's good, my friend came up with it. It's still a work in progress)

I don't hate Sonic OCs, not even the bad ones. Because I think that every OC needs a chance to become good when their creator becomes more mature. Look at Courtney, the creator of SNT ! SNT is that kind of OC that everybody loves "because she's special", as Courtney says. And now, she managed to make a whole and a good reason for that without changing anything from the lore of her original comics. And that's great ^^ These OCs are the ones who start the love of creation of these people, and they need recognition for that.
7:12 Now, that Badger character looks pretty good! He looks unique, but still looks like he comes from the world of Sonic the Hedgehog, and I would like to see more characters like that in the games! I prefer stuff like that over characters like Shara, Chip, The Deadly Six and most of the background characters in Sonic Boom, that's for sure!
I made an OC because of Forces.
It's a raccoon(because I love making characters with markings, and she is not related to Marine), she wears a short singlet paired with bright blue denim shorts. She wraps a scarf on her neck and covers herself with a cardigan, she wore knitted cuffs and a pair of fingerless gloves. She wears high tops shoes. She has markings on her face that makes her look like she have eyelashes(she doesn't have eyelashes, I find it as a neat design). She had fur sticking out from each side of her head with 2 tufts(the amount of tufts are optional, depending on drawing styles, picture it like the hair on the side of the red wolf/custom hero from Sonic Forces).
I made a boom design for her as well and matches it with Boom's method of redesigning characters, however she unintendedly has similar looks to Sticks the Badger, she doesn't look completely alike but some ideas were similar.
I tweaked Sonic Boom's idea of sportstape and my OC wears an unfully wrapped sportstape, so the sportstape on her elbows area were hanging out, her hoodie(which replaced the cardigan) is wrapped on her waist and her scarf was replaced with an acorn necklace(because I had the elbow sportstape things already). The cuffs on her hands were replaced with the enerbeam watch(that's... what it's called?) on her right hand and a high tech ring bracelet on her left(I just noticed that Sticks had a ring on her left arm, and again I do not intend my OC to look like her) one. The markings on her face split into 2, which makes her look like she have 2 eyelashes on her eyes. She still had the short singlet but her denim shorts were changed into black shorts which was partially covered by the hoodie wrapped on her waist, her legs are longer(typical Sonic Boom) and was wrapped with sportstape(not her entire legs), she wore sports shoes this time which still looks quite similar to her high tops. The only thing she kept from her Modern counterpart was her fingerless gloves. Her side fur has plenty of tufts this time, imagine it like the hair on a lion's tail.
She doesn't really have any powers(because, trying not to make it cringy and learning from my past OCs, to be more specific, fan characters that aren't Sonic related.), so I had a few ideas of gadgets for her, some plans was giving her a satchel full of gadgets, it would also improve her design, or either hide the gadgets inside her outfit. Her Boom counterpart has a high tech ring that allows her to project an interactive hologram weapon, which currently the only weapon she could only project was a bow, even if it was her left hand wearing it, the ring could project the arrows on her left hand to fire, making easy combos on enemies(basically an excuse because the Sonic Boom characters wore their enerbeam watches on their right wrist, and my OC is right handed), charging the bow for a moment by pulling back the elastic beam will cause the beam to glow brighter meaning it's charging energy, that allows my OC to fire much powerful arrows towards enemies.
I also made a classic version of her, but to get the classic vibe, I had to use Classic Tails' eyes and centered tiny triangle mouth, then gave my OC a zipped up jacket and a skirt, also giving her simple shoes tied up with long socks that goes up to covering her knees(she had to curl it a little because it was quite long). She had gloves covering her hands and wrists entirely, exactly like Sonic's. But she doesn't have her scarf. It makes her look like a kindergarten/first-grade. Also, she only have one tuft on her side fur. Also, she's too young to have a gadget.
I had a Dreamcast version of her too, she wore a t-shirt with a short cardigan but long sleeves. She had similar gloves to her classic counterpart but this time some part went under her sleeves(which was too long and she had to curl up onto her wrists), she had her scarf too. She wore skirts and her socks this time goes as long as under her knees(she did curl it up too). She had sport shoes but not the same as her Boom Counterpart. The tufts on her side fur goes up to 2(depends on drawing style like I said). There were no gadgets planned for this version(yet.. maybe?).
I have a good backstory for my Sonic OC.
LOGAN: Hello. my name is Logan the hedgehog. One year ago, I was exploring the whole Green Hill zone, until I came across some weird look water. It's kinda orangish red. When I came to get a better look at it, I feel in drowning. Luckily I managed to reach to the surface in time. An hour later, I was catching my breath and look at my fur. My fur was completely red and my body feels like it was on fire. Then a second later, flames came out of my hands. I was a little shocked about this.... could this be a gift from the heavens?

He’s stating the flaws with Sonic OC’s and how people can improve them.
I tend to ignore the bad ones overall but the ones that capture my attention really fascinate me! Personally, making a ton of Sonic FCs actually sharpens and hones your skills as a creator. Just to see where my creative juices would flow, I actually created tons of FCs based on animals I liked (a few of them hybrids). At first, I was satisfied with my result but as I became more involved with a similar creative community, my creative process started to change and after some time looking back on the FCs I had created, I either scrapped some or turned them into background anthro non-Sonic characters but kept several vital ones. Now while I know it's frowned upon, I did create 2/3 of the characters to be shipped with canon characters but I didn't want to just slap them with said characters so naturally, as any good writer should, I gave it my best to balance out everything per character in addition. I love working on backstories for characters so I chose the species thought long and hard about what kind of stories these characters would tell; even if they dated a known character. I also attempted to make it work within the universe, too. Whether it be powers, personality, shipping, lore, etc. I have a best friend who hates FCs so very much. She thinks they *all* suck (hence why she hates the comics, stating they are all Mary Sue FCs). I disagree with her standpoint but I must have done something right if she doesn't complain about my current FC. Heck, I even got her to make her own simple FC for RP purposes only. In retrospect, hers is quite simple, as she prefers so it works out pretty well.
My very first Sonic character was a blue-furred and teal-spotted leopard named Kat the Huntress (even though the name sucks, I think it still has a nice ring to it). She had wings, talons, a scorpion stinger, and eyes that changed colors based on mood (I gave this trait to my Chameleon Sonic FC because it fit better along with her backstory). Kat was really just a RP character I used when on long phone calls with an old friend. It was therapeutic because even though she was part of a universe I loved, I used her in a RP setting that allowed other universes I liked; such as Halo and Naruto (yeah, she was pretty much a gun-wielding Sonic-character Ninja). I've since scrapped her and recreated her from the ground up. Originally, she was just a Snow Leopard with no real background story in mind. But she started off as being simply a venue to explore my love for the franchise and fascination with Sonic, the character, as a whole. Shortly after I completed her story and settled on a real name (like, the third or fourth time), I realized I had changed as I wrote the story (not to mention I rushed the ending because I just wanted to finish it so badly), not only did my interests in characters change, but I also gained a yearning for self-expression and true creative freedom. So I decided I would write a new story with the same character but give her life. Funnily enough, it all started when I was looking Inuit words just for fun. This one restless night of soul-searching led me to create the most elaborate backstory I've ever written for a character ever. She was more than a character to ship with a canon character, she actually had life and depth. I've had a handful of people praise me for her realism. And It's all thanks to nights working tirelessly to make her nearly perfect (by that I mean balanced!).
Anyway, I didn't want to spoil anything in case anyone was actually interested in seeing her design and backstory.

1.make your character a original design,something that doesn’t look like the brother of sonic.
2.think of powers powerful enough to kill like 5 people.
3.think of a original animal,like a beetle or something else.
4.NOT make sonic in love with it,that’s just hentai on another level.
5.of you’re gonna do another oc try to not make all your ocs sexy females,I mean you could make it female but not at the point where it wears nothing or a bra.

Fun OC Power Idea: The "Prism Wispon", a wispon that can switch between different wisp powers at a moment's notice, with the drawback of having severely reduced effects. It's versatile, but not overpowered.

I remember my first Sonic oc, She was a fennec fox named Demeter and she was essentially just a nice lady I guess??? She didn't have any powers, nor did she go on adventures, She simply lived a quiet life and worked at a bakery she ran. it wasn't bad for my 12 year old self.
Something you forgot, there's too many hedgehogs, seriously we have enough official Hedgehogs as it is, why not try animals that haven't been seen in the Sonic style very much if at all like raindeer, wombats or seals etc.?

I like sonic ocs. There are so many and a lot of them can be unique. The recolors are just a minority. The female ones, design wise are the best to look at since the female ones tend to have more customization to them.

For most Sonic OCs, it's usually a question of how and when the OC will immediately become overpowered. Not by some kind of development, just an immediate coincidence of power! Others are well thought and given good character as for personality and backstory. I can't say I nitpick so much over design since we've already seen alot of already put clichés into most Sonic OCs nowadays. But, the Sonic Fandom with it's OCs are alright at best. Some are great while others...I don't even know where they'll go next. Hope to see something better soon, but thanks for the video. Gives many points on the usual guidelines people use for these characters.

Wow... You opened my eyes, I have an OC but honestly she looks similar to Amy, she has long quills and the tiny buttons nose, I might redesign her soon, maybe come up with a more interesting backstory, and even rename her(again). But I have trouble with names, of someone can think of a cute name for her, I would gladly appreciate it. Anyways, definitely gonna give it some thought, I just don’t know how to make her design more interesting...🤔

Cinos the Dense potato One is a turtle, and one is a blue jay. While I did draw them both a while ago I started drawing them again to sort of give them a better look. I was lacking creativity back when I made the blue jay and just straight up gave him jet's boots. :/

Cinos the Dense potato all you need to do is look up "red data animals list" or rare animals and you'll get a list on Google. Also I have found looking into what a real animal strengths and weaknesses is and enhance them makes your character more interesting.

My oc had a giant metal muzzler fuzed onto her skull by rouges she tried to outsmart. This disability lead her to eventually learn telekinesis, but the metal still makes it hard for her to breath and eat. She often takes breaks from using her powers to meditate and recharge. This character is a Tasmanian Devil, which are known to bite when attacking in the real world. This is another disadvantage of the metal cuff, preventing her from using her natural power, and forcing her to use a harder technique in order to survive.
I have one that I thought the backstory was pretty decent.
He's a royal hedgehog who went out to play with his friends one day. The weather got bad and a blizzard occurred. He hit his head on a rock and got amnesia, now he has to find his way back home without knowing anything about himself with his new friends from a different place.

I sonic ocs because I love to see how they think and act to other ocs and characters but there are Mary Sues who are shipped / related to sonic characters . ocs shouldn't get shipped and or related to sonic characters it's not right I have one that just works with her 2 year older sister at a veggie farm her only power is she can smell stuff from 3 Miles away .

And pro tip: If you want to create 5 OCs, but only focus on 2, then what's the point of the other 3? I have only 2 Fc's, a hedgehog named Alpha who has cosmic powers that should only used for 10 minutes at a time or else his body gets strained immensely, and his companion who is a 2 feet tall Kabuto beetle named Nano who can shrink to the size of an actual beetle

I don't know if this counts, but I'm working on a couple of D&D characters that I plan to adapt for a Sonic fanfic.
The two of them are part of a conclave of rangers:
One´s a wolf called Revenant. Once part of a tribe of wolves, an encounter with a Mind Flayer had him thrown into the outplanes where he was left to die or go insane until he was found by a race called the Gith who taught him how to channel the energies of the plane in order to escape. Since then, he hunts extraplanar threats, eventually forming his own conclave.
The other is Goldberg, a Dwarf. Hailing from a clan of monster hunters, Goldberg's journey to track down a long lost treasure led him to discover an interest in artificing, which he uses to augment his wrapons and equipment. He has an especial distain for people who use technology for nefarious purposes.
One tip I could provide with OC powers is to try to base it on the animals you try to base it on.
For instance, if you make a cheetah for an OC, the way I'd put it is to make the cheetah faster than Sonic (since real-life cheetahs are about six times faster than real life hedgehogs when dashing), but only for, say, 10 seconds (because cheetahs can easily tire if they dash) in which the cheetah would be forced to move as fast as a normal human.
If you were to go for a gorilla, give it super strength, but also make it slow as heck.
If you were to go for an eagle or a hawk, give the eagle/hawk exceptional timing or accuracy, but also make the hawk lightweight and easily knocked back.

I was the Pikachu ash has al was going well one day until a void appeared out of nowhere and ash was sucked in to the void and what was left was his hat and I wore it forever so then a mad scientist caught me out of nowhere and took me to his lab he encaged me but he fed me and gave me water and taught me how to speak English I was tested on a lot and I mean a LOT so one day a officer jenny with other cops came in and arrested the mad scientist and freed me and I was running when a vial of chemicals spilt all over me and I just kept running and I got out into the forest... so after that I took a nap and the next morning I decided to take a little walk and I just had the urge to go fast I didn't know why so I ran. the second I started to run it was like time stopped and I was running very fast and I stopped to think about what just happened and it turns out that the vial of chemicals made m speed stat go up high and I was the fastest thing life no joke I was probably faster than sonic shadow and flash combined. skip ahead a few months I was still thinking abut ash and how I missed him and how I helped dangerd pokemon with my speed. so I was relaxing and that void came up again and I was shocked at first but I soon jumped in to find ash as soon as I jumped in it was dark purple everywhere and I explored everywhere yelling ASH because I could speak and a while of searching I came across a skeleton wearing a blue coat and pink slippers I asked wo he was ad he came running at me saying have you seen my brother and I had to say no but than I asked have you seen a kid named ash and he said no and he said how about we work together to try and find them and I agreed and he had tears in his eyes so I figured he wasn't lying after a few hours we found another skeleton and I thought that was his brother so I said hello are you this skeleton brother. he stared the opposite way from me and sans said that it was not his brother and it was his dad and he was MAD. so I backed up and gaster said don't leave I'm lonely and encaged me with dark matter and it engulfed me and I blacked out and I woke up later and I was strapped to a hospital bed stabilized to the ground and he said. I'm going to make you powerful but focused on destroying everything and after that I backed out again and I was in my mind with another version of me but different he was a grey skeleton with ash's hat a yellow jacket just like sans and black shots with grey stripes and blue slippers and an angel wing and a demon wing and he said... I'm in control now... I woke up to normal but I was changing into that skeleton I saw in my mind and I was destroying everything and escaped with sans because I was turning back to normal and sans tought me about how to open voids to other universes/dimensions and I worked to save universes with KIT my friends OC and my brothers OC masterbuilder and I still go mad sometimes but I can now control my super form better but I need LOTS OF POWER!! so I often go to the sonic universe to get most of the power sources like chaos emeralds master emerald. and I do have weaknesses like water I cant swim and I struggle and that is why I work with people.

I always alot of oc concepts a day. I scrap a lot but the ones that are good i try to develop them. As powers go it mainly depends on animal or what they are based on them. For backstorys go i write a lot of backstory drafts and pick which one are good.
Mine is more of gaming OC but he has the Sonic design. His name is Robert Decev, a supposedly normal gamer and Sonic fan who saves the world in a Secret Rings Styled story. I would explain the backstory, but it's hard for me to put it in a nutshell.
I have an OCs too. But one of My fav OC is Lady the Hadgehog :D I think her story is very deep and I freaking intl that character desing and personality :D

I created a Sonic OC in a Roblox game called Sonic Pulse and I love her-
Her name is Maya btw and I couldn't really choose whether I should make her a cat or a hedgehog so I made her both. I even created a separate human character called Aria Brown (she's a young scientist who loves tea, is always tired and specialises in genetic modification) and kinda weaved her into Maya's backstory. Basically, she was created by Aria (Aria felt like creating a Mobian friend because she was kinda lonely) and sees her as a mother figure. In case you're wondering what Maya's personality is like, she's kinda got a similar personality to me lol (aka she's just a very chill introvert who is kinda able to make friends easily)
Also, in Sonic Pulse, I created a super form for her. She does have fire powers, but she can only use them in her super form =w=
I'm just really proud of myself for making a Sonic OC that I actually like besides this other obscure edgelord kitsune I created called Soul okay-

I made my character a green sonic once with a red shirt, yellow scarf, and blue shorts with a bit of hair covering one of his eyes and a few bangs on the front. He had an 8th Chaos Emerald around his neck. Oh, and he was the son of a goddess at one point. (now I just make his mother a former mage), and I THINK I gave him all of Sonic's abilities, except he was still trying to learn the boost because every time he boosted, he would end up tripping, and I also made him not AS fast as Sonic, but at least fast enough to kinda catch up with him. God, why did I think this was ok?
Now I think I just have him be able to spindash, but it's not as powerful as Sonic's, and he only learned it from various recordings of Sonic on TV.
Team Invar has an oc that been in production for the last 3 years. And is almost done we just got to come up with the design
I remember making am oc a while back. She was an op 3 tailed fox. I decided to remake her. She's still a 3 tailed fox (Kitsune) with the ability to shapeshift into a human woman ,like in the original folklore of Kitsunes . She's still a wip though.

I'm nearly a decade late commenting on this video, but the screenshot of that character from that spanish sonic series @ 5:19 just made me remember how insane that series was XDDDD. Basically every episode was split into two halfs. 50% of it was OP versions of Sonic characters having huge battles and the other 50% was the characters doing the do.

my specialty is making backstory´s for my oc´s because i make them like a normal person with something different to make them stand out from the rest of the characters in the world they live in but nothing too different.

she can only use the Normal emeralds and Super emeralds but can only use them for a really short time due to inexperience, she can be kind but can get killed or knocked out VERY easily, she got a strong power from her mother who is a goddess of negativity even though both of them don't have immortality she only uses the fling ability since thats the only one she has discovered and without those powers (the weaker she gets the weaker the power gets) she cant defend herself, well at least, and normally leads to her mother protecting her.
(Backstory):
She was tortured by her mother and any other evil beings and even her sister Sarith tried helping her out but had her own problems at the times, she eventually escaped and rarely got possessed by her mother and forced to attack her freinds, she somehow made her mother change her heart and ever since then her mother protected her.

Evo the Phoenix
Abilities:Wisp Fusion,Pretty Strong,Not as fast as sonic but has a great amount of speed,Flight,Flame control and Is able to heal his wounds as well as the wounds of others.
He was at first a explorer trying to follow in his father’s footsteps of being a known explorer and while flying finds the lost world. When he is exploring he ends up not being able to leave until he meets a crimson eagle wisp he named Wing and so Wing promised to help Evo escape as long as he takes Wing to see the outside world as he’s quite bored of his world. Once he agrees Wing then infuses with Evo and takes control of him to lead him out of the world to see earth. Evo’s main weapons are a greatsword which he’s surprisingly fast with,Wing because Wing can morph into weapons but his main choice is a gun that can fire wisp or the fire that Evo can create. The one time he had fought with the freedom fighters is when Wing was taken from Evo and he was forced to join them to get his Wingman back (See what I did there) and uses the other wisps whomst he barely used or talked to. That is when he learns to treat his wisps equally instead of only using Wing. As he finally frees an energy drained Wing,Eggman infuses the energy of wing into the egg dragoon and wreaks havoc with terrifying speed as he and Sonics friends have to work together to stop Eggman and get Wings energy back. If I should work anything out lmk cause I’m thinking of continuing the story

the "bad oc" topic is part of every fandom really. over the top colorful fursonas, bad sonic ocs and every mlp oc sporting some sort of dark color. while some of it is true, its subjective to every single character themselves really and nothing should be judged by the design, as long as it looks well drawn at least and is definitely meant to be serious.
to powers and backstories... yea, you basically can instantly tell if its a person with inferiority complex or a kid who made the character just by looking at that. also goes for all fandoms obviously. matching abilities with the universe they live in isn't always easy since creativity kinda is limited because of that, but the result feels better.
Backstory is difficult as it needs the most effort and such. as a character designer and writer myself i have had enough time doing that and just creating a lot of different characters for all sorts of fandoms is fun if you really get the hang of it. i would recommend not only trying yourself on ocs, but just characters in general. it helps improving and maybe a oc will end up much more accurate to what it should be when doing so.
... or throw all of that out of the window and get yourself the first pic you see, recolor it in a unfitting color and give it a stupid name with a constant kamehameha shooting from there eyes 24/7
a backstory is already good as long as it won't affect the main story with the canon characters..you gotta see your character's story as one that did not happen around the canon characters.for fanfictions/rps the best way to start off is when your chaeracter still have to meet the canon characters..well that's what i learned from a friend of mine when i still made cringy backstories >.
my oc is called fierin the hedgehog
he is an orange hedgehog with spine formation like seelkadoom(sonic oc)
and he basically has fire powers like blaze with some original attacks. he comes from the king emerald(master emerald but fiery) just like chaos and looked like chaos until eggman nega captured him and tried to give it sonic and blaze's dna so he could use sol(former name) to defeat blaze and sonic but he broke free during the mind control process, he now lives with knuckles helping with the master emerald, he is friends with sonic and friends and also joined the resistance and he helped knuckles build a house around the master emerald, he doesnt have the ability to talk
I have 2. One of which is my avatar for Forces and another is a side character sorta thing I made. Mine is a robot wolf and he is lazy a bit lol.

I do like RPing some times when i have some free time and I have about 4 characters that I might use... but rarely do they even get used. Mostly because with the people I know they just don't fit in anywhere XD. 2 of them are rival photographers working for magazines and newpapers, They are the ones who would go into the danger zones where the real heroes are and take pictures of the action. Just one of them tries to record the true things while the other one doctors up the photos using optical magic for illusions. No photoshop needed :P. I draw all my characters |D.
My oc is Piper the Mouse. She plays the flute like the pied piper ( ;D get why she is a mouse?) and also uses her metal flute as attacks.
How to make a Sonic OC:

2. Get a recolour tool
3. Locate the recolour tool
4. Give it a "original" name.
5. Profit.

I had one named max raccoon and he was an experiment by his mad scientist father(no he's not related to Dr.robotnik or Dr.eggman) and he's basically just really tough, he has a higher bone and muscle density that makes him more endured. He has rocket powered roller skates that help him move faster. With the chaos emeralds(all 7 of them he's not going to be one of the OCs who only need one) his favorite thing to do is walk up to foes and explode but because he's super endured he can survive his own explosions other than that he's a very tough laughable and dumbfounded raccoon.

[THE TROOPER]
The user can absorb the abilities of machines. After the user absorbs the ability of a machine, it cannot be used again (Also, it can't be absorbed again). Ever. After the user absorbs a machine's power, the user can turn into that machine (though the user can use it with arms, legs etc. For example, the user can turn his/her legs into wheels and such). The user can also combine machine's abilities. For example, the user can turn into a tank with a car's speed and weight, while still retaining the tank's durability and cannon. The user can only use 3 different types of machines, If the user wants to use another type then he/she'll have to dispose one of her 3 types of machine which erases the abilities the user absorbed for that type. If the user wants to get his/her powers back, then they'll have to absorb the abilities all over again. When the user absorbs a machine that he/she already haves (of the same type ((tanks,planes,cars etc)) ) , the abilities of the machine are added, not multiplied. The appearance of the machine the user transforms to depends on the best one absorbed by the user (the best plane, the best tank, the best car, yatta yatta yatta whatever).

Here's some if you want to fix an OC: if they have really broken powers I would say either make said powers way too overwhelming on the character, or make them a glass cannon, or downgrade or nerf their powers to balance them out.
yeah, I'm glad that I made my Sonic oc in a "alternate universe" so I can build my own universe (and little me couldn't ship my oc with sonic characters lmao)

I agree with the power thing. my oc has the power to manipulate energy which can lead to some bull crap but it can be cool
I have, to be honest, built up a bit too much guilt of making a sonic OC now since of how bad I used to either design, powers, or backstory I made for mine back then. If I wanted to make a Sonic OC now with the experience that I have, it would be much more polish in comparison of what I use to do.
That one Sonic X recolor looks like it is more of a redesign for Sonic himself than an OC.
so, my main OC [basically starting to get back into it slowly]'s base is nick the weasel, although I have changed colors and added a bit, I mean, i'm no sprite genius so I won't say he's...amazing. I may go back and try to edit in extra but it's a WIP
Backstory: At the age of 18, after finishing school he left his home to explore the world and got a job as a bounty hunter. As a bounty hunter his skills were...lackluster. He worked everyday to get better and better, eventually rising through the ranks and gaining the master sniper nickname. Eventually, he leaves a bounty hunter group after a mission has him run into a situation. From there he meets many other characters and eventually a sealed evil arises and he finds himself against the evil with the help of others...Or something to that effect, story ain't complete yet and I really need to think of how I want to write this character. He's got no special powers and is just really good with a gun. He does wear a scouter in order to aim more precisely and find an enemy's weak point or open area.

One thing I find important if making a Sonic OC, or just a character in general, the backstory and personality are most important. I know some may not completely agree with me on this, but as .a writer, I make sure to stay true to this statement.
In order for a Sonic OC (or any other kind of OC, or an actual original character, as in not bonded to any series), the character must be able to stand alone without any sort of physical design, or powers. Yes, you can construct their appearance as well as their powers while still working on their personality and backstory, and their story can always change, but in order for it to be good. You must be able to describe your character without even mentioning appearance or powers. If you are able to do this, and the story you come up with is balanced (and doesn't relate too much to another character's backstory if it is an OC from a series), then you have a good character right there.
I have an oc. It's on the sonic amino. I make ocs cause they pop into my head. I get great ideas and I want to use them in character designs! Specifically sonic.
