In regards to magic, some of us treat an OC of ours as a' ponysona' of sorts and magic enables us to manipulate stuff in a similar way we could always do with our hands, really.

But Pegasi and Earthponies have either sticky hooves or some sort of contact-kinesis that allows them to bend physics as long as they are touching the object they want to manipulate, but this most likely only applies to hooves. Applejack might even use this technique with her bucking to increase the applied force.
They're shown in the show to be able to pick up objects with a single hoof.

There may be more Unicorns because many people who make sonas are artists and Unicorns are generally associated in the show with the arts. As for Pegasi... Most of the people I've known who wanted Pegasus sonas and OCs wanted them because they're seen as the 'cool' characters. Also lots of people dream of being able to fly like you said.

Earth ponies are the hipsters of OC-dom. A lot of times they're used just because they aren't unicorns, pegasi, or alicorns. I think bronies have missed the point of tribal unification.

My theory is that every earth pony has a “sense” of their own. While the senses we see from the show are more out there, the other earth ponies may have more nature/talent based senses that are personal to them.
The irony is i actually thought about making an earth pony OC awhile back, but she was... too sad. The story was so sad I couldn't stand its unrealisim and I honestly made it because I thought the idea of a 'deformed' earth pony, abondoned at the door step of black dragons, and raised by them, would be cool. She would have great speed and agility and jumping ability cause she thinks she was a dragon. But again, the storry was too blah, and it didn't reflect me at the end of the day. I just thought it was cool, so I went with my pegasus OC cause it reflected more my personality, and baddabing now im an alicorn tada... MAGIC lol. But them earth ponies...stay proud!

my mlp OC is a species I made up.. Its like a wendigo/skinwalker. Its a mix of a deer/pony and it looks kinda dead.. Still, I love her
buut I also have a pegasus OC shes more representative of myself °~°
I have some that are a species that actually comes from the same legends as Pegasus and unicorns, but for some reason mlp excluded them. They're called Hippocampi and they're basically mermaid ponies. But they were invented a long time ago. They live underwater and I designed them to have webbed hooves and gills, and they look super cool.

My OC was born unicorn but got her horn removed and now is an earth pony. Maybe you could make yours a disabled unicorn with only one special power or an earth pony with a special power
@@strawberrycupcake2413 mine is kinda like yours but in reverse, hidden spark started off as an earth pony but developed quite the inferiority complex due to getting bullied by Pegasi and unicorns and feeling like he was lesser than them, so he asked discord to give him a horn. Discord did just that, except the horn was a near uncontrollable piece of chaos that randomly cast unwanted spells, even though he was far worse off having a horn, hidden spark convinced himself that he was better off with this horn, pushing away the thought of his talents being the real important thing about him, which is why he has no cutie mark.

Earth Pony = Warrior / Hunter Class. Good with a bow and taming beasts to assist you. Smashing your foes with heavy large weapons such as war hammers, battle axes, great swords, etc. Farming? pshh Earth Ponies also have Mining and Smithing skill. Mine ore to make plate armor or hunt beasts for leather to create lighter armor for more mobility and agility. I can keep going with this all day lol hmmm... yeah, I need to start writing stories again.

I need some tips on my Earth Ponies back story, OK here it is: During the start of summer the young Caterin markin ( wich is her name ) is walking around her neighbourhood, her neighbourhood is quite a boring country place where it is usually frosty, muggy and misty also there's only a population of 82 so you could imagine what it was like. She headed back to her parents house when a small rectangular shaped bit of paper rustles past her, she thought it might be money so she cantered after it. When she finally caught it she saw that it was a voucher for a free holiday in Hawaii " A free holiday!!! " she yelped before legging it home.
When she reached her parents house she burst inside yelling " Mom dad look!! " then slapping it on the table " OMG!!!! Sweetie dear where did you find this!?! " exclaimed her mother" I found it on the ground! " " Jerry! Go pack the suit cases!"
5 days later they were in Hawaii having the time of there lives when someone walks up and asks...
If Caterin wanted to learn how to make a coconut into a drink " yes please " she said politely. After she finished making it she says " this was really cool and fun, can I make another!?" Just then her parents Coke to collect her when they both say " DARLING ITS AMAZING!!!!!!! " witch shocked Caterin " mum dad it's just a cup....?" But then they say " no sweetheart, you're cutie mark!!!" after hearing her parents words a confused look sweped across her face but she ran to the nearest pool and looked at the reflection " OMG!!!!! It's amazing!!" Her cutie marks was of a yellow pocket with Hawaiian blue flowery patterns and a warn away looking brown button in the right corner... And that's all I have

For anyone who is familiar with the Shadowrun RPG, I often equate Earth Ponies to physical adepts-- characters who have internal magic that grants them strength, speed, and the ability to pull off amazing physical feats.
when I make OC's I usually make earth ponies! making an earth pony who can call himself a good warrior and can compete with the other races of pony AND non-pony, but isn't an OP charecter that only gets away with it due to not being an alicorn is really fun!
I recently made my first pony OC last month!!
Her name is Mochamint, and she's an earth pony who loves art and coffee.
I did consider if I wanted a unicorn or pegasus instead. Unicorns would be super fun because of their magic and being able to draw her levitating objects and all that. And obviously the idea of her flying is great too!!
But I realized unicorns are pretty overrated, and I didnt like the image of her having a horn. And wings are too hard to draw, so I didn't make her a pegasus XD
So she's just a cute, chill earth pony 💙

I always thought people didn't choose earth pony OCs because they don't want to feel like normal humans and it would be more fun to have a special ability you can't have in the real world with an OC. At least that's my theory...
Interestingly enough, I actually picked an Earth Pony for my first OC, Wolfie Faux (which I've been told actually is 'fo' not some weird way to say 'fox'). I also subconsciously had her have an affinity with animals, specifically timberwolves. While I did end up making a pegasus and a two unicorns, I actually felt more comfortable with having Earth Ponies, going on to make 2 more. Technically, this somewhat balanced things out, but only in a 3 to 3 ratio, 3 being Earth and 3 being non-Earth. I guess I'm one of those people that just happens to prefer the Earth Ponies (although the pony that reflects me the most is a Pegasus...*shrug*)
Oh, and then there's the alicorn... and the dragonequus... crap, not even anymore- guess I'll need to get more EPs to make me feel better about having a balanced set up. I tend to do this thing a lot.
I considered making my OC based on me a earth pony because I live in a rural area filled with villages, towns, farms and fields. But I find the colours and beauty of the sky alot more interesting as a style choice for an OC.

I have an oc, her name is Cosmic Glimmer, basically she lived in another galaxy, but the world was underpopulated. Cosmic Glimmer was a small scientist who tried to test and clone ponies to make more, but a blizzard covered the entire land and she put herself in a teleportation device to an underground bunker.
SOULS exist in this galaxy, like Undertale, and she inserted too much power into the machine. Her soul is Integrity.
Cosmic Glimmer’s soul combined with some magical sun rays that broke from a glass bottle from a past experiment, making her way more stronger and making her Integrity stronger as well.
C.G. is a white pegasus with big black wings, and a dark blue spot on her left eye (her SOUL color). Her hair is dark blue with black stripes. Her front hair is swooped to the side roughly with those “spikes”, and her longer hair goes down on her back again spiky if you get what I mean.
Her personality is very lazy, and calm but she’s serious half of the time, the other is her being laid back. Her sense of humor is absolute trash like mine, with dark humor.
Again, she was a scientist so she is extremely smart but doesn’t show it, unless Cosmic is near Twilight or jokes about it.
She really fears other ponies loving her without knowing that she’s a terrible person in the past galaxy, harming innocent test subjects. When someone shows (platonic) affection even if the pony doesn’t like her, she gets sad.
Cosmic also is scared of dying suddenly, the dark, and being stuck in the dark for all eternity with no sound, sight, or touch. Cosmic Glimmer loves horror genres, and loves Z Nation.
Random facts- her favorite color is bright blue.
She has a very small, tiny, barely noticeable crush on Apple Jack
Her favorite food is spaghetti and ramen and apples
Glimmer doesn’t like drawing, she’s really bad but loves reading

My OC is mainly an earth pony. Yep, you read that right, *mainly* an earth pony. If you don't know what I mean, here are the long and short stories:
Short Story: My OC can change from Earth Pony to Alicorn at will by the shake of her tail.
Long Story: My OC is a Princess (Mom is Queen from outside Equestria and Dad is King from same place as mom), but a very peculiar one: She's an Earth Pony, but can transform into an Alicorn by shaking her tail, so her tail has magical powers. Her Mom is a Pegasus, while her dad is an Earth Pony. I know, genetics don't make sense here, but let me explain: This story line of how my OC can change into an Alicorn is kind of like Tangled, her mom saw a 7 pointed star from the sky, and touched it (while she was pregnant), and when the baby was born, she was an earth pony. Nothing peculiar.... at first. When she looked at her parents for the first time, she shook her tail in excitement, and she became an alicorn: looks incredibly different. Her parents were confused, and they went to Princess Celestia. She said that Saturn (my OC's name) had the ability to transform from Earth to Alicorn.

Glad you made a video about this. A few stories I have read proposed that all of the things Pinkie Pie can do are actually Earth pony magic. She is basically the Twilight Sparkle level Earth ponies. I also think unicorn oc's over estimate what the average unicorn can do. Sure Twilight can lift an ursa minor but most would be able to lift much less than an Earth pony. You don't see Rarity showing Tom around with her magic (if I'm remembering correctly).
My main pony character is an Earth Pony, and he has control over aura, which is the energy in one's soul. Anyone liking him so far?

My favorite mlp OC has been an earth pony for a long while now. I use her to represent myself in all the mlp fandoms I'm a part of on the internet, they truly are under appreciated, but it gives me the perfect opportunity to stand out as an artist by having an earth pony oc to represent myself rather than the usual pegasus or unicorn.
What people are overlooking is that earth ponies have magic too.
Not as in their connection to the earth. But as we’ve seen with Applebloom taking lessons from Zecora, an earth pony can perform magic. With practice. That is why when my stupid art block is over I’m going to draw my earth pony of that has magical ability.
Back to Apple Bloom, she is still just a kid and with the world the ponies live in, I’m wondering just how much magical potential she has.
While I can’t exactly relate to what most earth ponies are like. Each and every creature are different.

I have an Earth Pony OC.
Name, Sapphire Sparkle is a female Earth Pony and Twilight Sparkle's adopted sister.
Sapphire is a noble soul and strong young mare who is normally rather quiet and stoic personality-wise. Because of her calm and stoic personality, she is sometimes too distant from those around her, but that is also the flip side of her good nature. Because she is a bit introverted, Sapphire has developed a habit of being self-reliant which has led her to build up walls between herself and others, making her anti-social, withdrawn, and shy.
She also lacks social skills and has a hard time opening up and talking to others. She is also wary and curt towards strangers and frequently rejected offers to help, even becoming defensive and angry. Despise she is willing to trust and accept help from others, Sapphire still prefers handling things on her own and remains somewhat reclusive, she will accept her friends' help and is genuinely grateful for their aid.
Sapphire is very honest and almost blunt when dealing with the annoyances of others this makes her have the tendency to judge others poorly and see less value in others. Sapphire also suffers from acrophobia and just the sight of heights makes her terrified, nervous, and uncomfortable. However, she is not much for admitting her fear and will try to hide it.

@@cyborgXcsun my oc was going to be a little unicorn with a hollow horn that has a crush on apple jack still will because when I was a kid I also had a crush on Apple jack and my oc's best friend was going to be sweetie belle because relatable but after this video my oc is a earth pony that really wants to be a unicorn so my oc made a horn out of leaves and tree sap so there's still the hallo horn my oc stocks Apple jack allot and thinks she doesn't notice but she does and she thinks it's cute so she lets him and doesn't acknowledge him because she doesn't want to give him a mental overload that was a bad day also he looks up to Trixie because he wants to be a unicorn he lives with cheerle because when he was little he lost his parents and lived like Aladdin in the start of the movie until cheerle found him unconscious on the playground in the school yard and saved him oh yeah I need to give him a new Best friend let's go with button mash and the one with super teeth from the episode where the CMC get there cutie marks let me know if I should fix or add anything

this is why fluttershy has a very special talent- as fluttershy has a huge connection to nature and animals that most earthponies are natural at.
I actually think, that in relatable community terms, I'm More of an Alicorn then anything else. Everyone comes to me with problems and I solve most of them quite easily. People think of me as a leader type, and I always help with everything.

This video makes me feel so much better about my earth pony oc. For the longest time I wondered why I was the only one of my friends to have an earth pony oc and this makes it a lot easier to understand.
I also have heard people say that earth ponies aren't cool like Pegasi and unicorns. I try to defend them, but I had no idea what made them unique. Thank you so much for this video, even if I finally found it two years late.

My OC, Pastel Pallet, is a unicorn because of my love for magical fantasies and art, her magic helps her create art better than a Pegasus or Earth Pony. :D
The original reason that I made my OC a unicorn because I'm lazy and my favorite characters in the show are (mostly) unicorns. I thought of this a long time ago, and I kind of regret my decision, but because of my attachment to the unicorns (and my current OC) I don't think I will ever change :3.
My Oc is an Earth pony, because I think Earth Ponies Fit to me Most. I love animals, nature and well fruits are also kinda plants. :3

The truth is people keep apreaciating eath ponies over load and dislikeing alicorns because they want to be the best, and for that, they need the others to be lower on the scale.
My oc is a gold/wheat colored earth pony named Dandelion Meadows. (Idk I may change the name later ;) She’s an artist struggling to pursue her dream job at Disneigh, (Get it?) and moved back in with her mom after university. Her parents are divorced but on relatively good terms. Her mom is an earth pony (whose family were all farmers) but decided to be a teacher. Her dad comes from a more mixed background and dabbles in many recreational hobbies. Dandelion has a lot of experience within the disability community. Her paternal grandparents are deaf and communicate through sign language. (Idk yet how that would work with just hooves 😂) Her little sister is on the autism spectrum. Dandelion herself has ADHD and anxiety. She channels a lot of her energy into her art and her service to the community. Although she misses the (direct) support of her university friends, who live faraway.
While Dandelion still pursues her art career, she took on a position as a special education paraprofessional at the school of friendship. (In short, a “sped para” assists students with special needs at school.) Probably the majority of her adventures would involve how she balances her life and help different students with friendship problems.
Her cutie mark (still in progress) is supposed to be symbolic of “wishful thinking” because she’s a daydreamer and gets caught up in her passions. To my recollection, dandelions were the first flower I learned the name of. I was confused when my mom told me they were a weed, not a flower, because I still thought they were pretty, regardless.
Most of us live in the big cities. Away from Nature and Agriculture.
Many of us also dream of casting epic spells (or mundane spells that help a lot in life in a practical way), or fly among the cloud without machines.
Subtitudes of hands.
Earth ponies always seem to work best as supports/The Rocks one can lean on/stability in the insanity/voices of reason/friends for the unicorns and pegasi, and not many are content with support role nor do many fit to be the support.

Unicorns and Pegasi do have a more detailed performance to show their characteristics.
I have an earth pony OC! Her name is Goldensugar, and she runs a candy shop full of delicious sweet and salty sweets, however, her parents, who both wanted her to be an actress like them, Don't really like her, so she struggles with her loneliness. She wants love because her parents neglected her so much, she wants to be a mother so she can be a good parent, unlike her own. But since she is socially awkward, she can't really make many friends.

In the game Legends of Equestria, they tried to give Earth Ponies a player boost by making them absolutely, undeniably, OP. With the logic that them getting around is harder is a worthy con. Even though they made the Unicorn made out of Glass and the Pegasus hit like feathers.

:D I'm guiltily a unicorn, but I want to make a second OC that's an earth pony.
I have a few earth pony OCs, but all of them either have two things in common, they're super strong, or they're doing some fancy job. For example, one of my earth ponies is a adventurer, who travels across the world (Much like daring doo, but she doesn't write about it), and uses her strength to lift heavy stuff, and fight off ponies/people who don't want her to be there for some reason or another. In contrast, one of my other earth pony ocs is a high-class jeweller, her family having been jewellers for ages. In fact, it is rumoured that her *insert a lot of greats* grand aunt made Celestia's and Luna's crowns, necklaces, and shoes when they were first crowned princesses of Equestria, and personally made Twilight's crown (Not the element of harmony, but the one she wears after that). (Your videos really helped with the latter OC) All in all, I really think that having an earth pony as an OC isn't really a bad thing, nor does that mean that your character is stuck being a farmer, or boring, in fact, a character that has to compete with other more magical ponies could be really intresting.
I personally am an pegasus, because my psychiatrist told me that i have "too much of element air in me" so even if earth is my favourite element and earth ponies are my favourite species, im still a pegasus.

My oc is a land pony because they have to use strenght and use their wits, without flying or magic, so they are determined and they can learn more about nature. :P
i actually had an idea for an Earth Pony OC. He was going to be a wandering Hobo! Couch surfing and Labor offering to get by in life. I personally think this idea is very original as you don't hear about any hobo Ponies.
