No, it still is basically a better version of a Tesla. But still.. not worth the money. It's missing a lot of features that by the time you try to add most of them back in with options and packages, just spend a little more for the Cadillac. Typical GM trim and package levels, same as it has been for decades. Always get the base model Cadillac or Buick versus a loaded Chevy as you get a better vehicle for only a little more or no extra money. (plus better resale value and things like included leather)
We owned 2 Model S cars, a Gen 1 and 2, and now own a Lyriq. All of these cars have their strong points. I am not in favor of air suspension or AWD which our Lyriq doesn't have, although the Model S does have a slightly better ride because of air suspension. No Tesla has a luxury interior while Cadillac has been designing those for 120 years or more and the interior of the Lyriq wins hands down. The GM Supercruise is more positive, as is the overall handling of the Lyriq. Pricewise, the upgraded Lyriq was about the same as the Gen 3 Model S, so it's maybe not as value priced as some think, considering the advantages of the Model S. My wife wouldn't drive the Tesla but loves the Lyriq which has a lower front and is easier to understand.
The Honda Prologue is built on the same platform. I got the VW ID4 because I don't want version 1.0 of a car. The ID4 had been out for a few years and had 2-3 iterations to improve. I like the way the Prologue looks more than the Blazer, I like Camaros but I don't think everything needs to look like a Camaro. The Cadillac does look great though, the motor compartment looks really well done! Ford should take notes.
As a Model Y Long Range owner, both of these look awesome and I agree with everything that Hoovie was pointing out. I'm in need of another vehicle and looking at all of the options out there. Sadly, what's really needed and no one has done it yet is a EV version of the Honda Odyssey.. which blow my mind. The first company to make that happen will crush that market segment. Honda hasn't even offered an Odyssey in a hybrid yet, which is disappointing. Awesome video as usual! Keep up the great work guys.
My daughter has a Sienna Hybrid and it's been great so far. I guess Honda doesn't want to invest a bunch in the minivan market as Toyota and Chrysler have so many out there already and people are leaning toward SUVs more and more. Minivans do come in handy when you need them though.
Yes they are both good looking vehicles! But I wouldn’t compare to the MD X seems like another type of car or SUV , I don’t understand why they have no Frunk ? Yes Tesla’s look different they don’t claim to be car like they are planned to be different and A note I saw a another CZcamsr who was in a repair or service shop and the mechanic pointed out the difference between a ICE vehicle compared to a electric vehicle. They found out the tires wear differently because of regeneration and suspension is different than a ICE vehicle so if they just convert a ICE vehicle to an Electric vehicle it won’t work correctly. I was amazed at the difference.
I'm not a fan of the Full Glass Roof on any car since a Hail Storm 2 years ago. $1.3K not covered by car insurance. I hope the Caddy (all of them)has a Glass delete option?
It sounds like your insurance company screwed you. They know by the VIN what options the car has and they know sunroofs, pano roofs and convertibles can get trashed during hail storms. Even metal roof cars can get banged up. I had a Ford Thunderbird back in the 90s that got hail damage on the hood, roof and trunk lid in a storm and they quoted $4700 back then to fix it. I cashed the check and bought another one, and kept the damaged one as a beater for work. Nowadays, the insurance companies would just total a car with any significant damage, whether glass roof or metal. They get so much for them at the auction due to exporters, rebuilders and parts scarcity that they end up coming out ahead by totaling them instead of fixing.
If both GM cars are simply different trims of the same platform, why is the Blazer compared to the Y and the Cadillac compared to the X. It seems like the Cadillac is probably more comparable to the Y Long Range. The Y and X are two completely different vehicles.
I have a CT6 sport w/supercruise and have been very much looking at the new Lyriq. I'm really close to pulling the trigger. The seats are exactly the same, and the ride is even better. The acceleration is close (3.0TT vs Dual motor version). The main thing I don't like is I prefer sedans. I admit I'm also a little hesitant for all EV. My wife has a Yukon XL for all our SUV needs, and my winter beater is a true survivor that shouldn't exist. A Buick Rendezvous 3400 with 300k and counting. Next time I comment I may just have a Blue Lyriq with the white/grey interior!
I drive a Cadillac lyric, for work Sometimes and I experienced complete brake failure when driving the Cadillac So I’m not sure if I’m fully sold on that car, come to find out it had to have a complete software reload.
These vehicles should be easy for GMs owners to use as they are very familiar to folks who previously owned GM products. I hope that GM comes clean soon and reports what it costs to produce these vehicles. If they are doing as badly as Lucid, Rivian or Ford from a profitability perspective, it may be difficult to ramp up production which is badly needed to gain the economies of scale that are so necessary to enable profitability. Bravo to GM for getting these products to market; the more competition in the EV sector the better. Now, let’s get on with ramping up production.

I remember seeing a video where Tyler trashes the new Blazer non-ev. Suddenly he loves it as an ev?
Surely the dynamics will be different, right? Makes sense he'd assess them differently.
He was trashing the styling
No, it still is basically a better version of a Tesla. But still.. not worth the money. It's missing a lot of features that by the time you try to add most of them back in with options and packages, just spend a little more for the Cadillac. Typical GM trim and package levels, same as it has been for decades. Always get the base model Cadillac or Buick versus a loaded Chevy as you get a better vehicle for only a little more or no extra money. (plus better resale value and things like included leather)
That was a really good video with you guys !!
😂"Blink once if this has ever happened to you"
can we have a channel of Aprils outtakes? please???
Awd handles better by a lot
@Channel--Ai Yes it does.
I didn't realize Hoovie has so many cameramen!!
How about if you trade off some of those dust collectors in the barn and get April the Lyriq?
sometimes I forget April is a supermodel thanks for the reminder 😅😅
The Honda Prologue is built on the same platform. I got the VW ID4 because I don't want version 1.0 of a car. The ID4 had been out for a few years and had 2-3 iterations to improve. I like the way the Prologue looks more than the Blazer, I like Camaros but I don't think everything needs to look like a Camaro. The Cadillac does look great though, the motor compartment looks really well done! Ford should take notes.
I think you should sell your Cybertruck and buy a Lyriq Hoodie, while you can still make money off your pickup!
Is that a engagement ring on April's hand?
Does the infotainment system still die and brick the car in the process?
Thank you very much! Liked, subscribed and shared. My absolute favorite CZcams channel by far.
April lookin like a snack.. thanks hoovie
April makes this channel awesome
Yeah, but it feels like the indicators are in opposition to each other. The triangles are pointing in the wrong direction and I can't unsee it 😅
The Consumer Reports review of the Chevy Blazer EV was, "It was so terrible that I couldn't wait to get out "
The launch of that car was a train wreck
That was the previous iteration.
@@mnhsty it’s still GM trash
And that’s how you know this whole vid is a paid ad.

Does the Cadillac have a Heatpump A/C heater system?
Yes, both of the cars do.
The vibes are really great, love it
Yes they are both good looking vehicles!
I expect an EV to have a frunk. Not just because it is useful, but more that it shows that it wasn't just a recycled ICE design.
I'm not a fan of the Full Glass Roof on any car
since a Hail Storm 2 years ago. $1.3K not covered by
car insurance.
Just for clarification- Audi’s will also put the gps directly in front of the driver full screen. And they’ve got the gimmicky headlight animations.
If both GM cars are simply different trims of the same platform, why is the Blazer compared to the Y and the Cadillac compared to the X. It seems like the Cadillac is probably more comparable to the Y Long Range. The Y and X are two completely different vehicles.
Cuz Hoovie math had to happen
It's amazing to think that the Countach and Testa Rossa with their 0-60 times in the mid-fives are now considered slow by modern standards!
Another really great GMYT. I love the scripted bits as much as rest!!!
Petition for an offiical "April's Garage" channel, plesae!
I'd like to look into her barn door.
Dude I didn’t realise you’re dating the Russian dance instructor from “Grown Ups” that’s so cool ! Nice catch Tyler, super cool chic 👍
6:51 April making Hoovie sounds 😂
I really enjoyed this video!
" It's not like a fat guy sitting on your face..." BWAAAAHAHAHA.
EVs need cooling too. The grills do serve some purpose.
The front of the Cadillac looks like it's been Bedazzled. 😁
When it's winter and everything is icy, these special motorized charger doors and handles won't last long before they break.
I enjoy April's garage. More please!
Size does matter! You heard it here first! :D
