I had one preordered, took too long bought a rx 350h iland very happy with my decision not to go forward with the lyric and buy the Lexus instead. I live in Florida in a very congested area I get 40 miles to a gallon with the Lexus. It’s a great handling super comfortable well-built car.
It's time for a new review of the Lyriq. The 2024 is way improved compared to the 2023, and the March software update fixed most of the outstanding issues. I almost bought the 2023, but it wasn't ready for prime time. The 2024 is a whole different experience, WITH AMAZING DOOR HANDLES! . Also the AWD versus the RWD you reviewed is a very different experience.
Great review as usual. I think the headrest speakers are used for active noise cancellation rather than music. The cabin is pretty quiet when on the road.🇨🇦
For $100 I was on the reserve waiting list to just order a Lyric since January of 2022. This was only to order one, after that who know how long of a wait for delivery? After 18 months of not being able to even place an order I gave up, got my $100 back, and took myself off the order waitlist at the start of June this year. When I was there to get my $100 back even the dealer was frustrated at the incredibly slow roll out and sympathized with me.
@@normt430 Well, I was on the list to order a 2023, that didn't happen and I hadn't even been informed I could order a 2024. In any case they sure as heck didn't sell one to me and I've moved on.
It’s a tremendous looking car. Inside and out. I think Cadillac has a real winter here, but not yet. When I test drove a 24’ the road noise (that’s piped in) is ridiculous and when you thankfully “turn it off” (which is just turning it down) it just sounds like something is wrong with the car. It handles incredibly stiff, but I will say the one pedal driving is the best I’ve driven. (I’ve had two Tesla’s and have driven about 12 EV’s at various times) The hatchback is very hard to see out of. They definitely need to put the option to always have your back camera up like Tesla does. The ride is pretty rugged on the road, but these are only minor tweaks that can be fixed to be honest. I would imagine the 2026 model will be one of the best/most requested EV’s on the road.
Great review. I am a patient person and have been on the wait list for about a year. My current cars are new/recent so I can wait. I plan to get a 2024 or 2025 AWD Sport 3 with Nappa leather. I saw one last fall at my dealership when GM toured a couple of demos across the country and I was blown away by the styling and interior. I am unconcerned about reliability - I've owned (and still do) Cadillacs and they're very good. Finally - I understand that GM has redesigned the door handles for the 2024 MY vehicles so they will pop out when the car detects the fob nearby. Also, GM plans to change the charging port to the NACS starting in 2025.
I hope this breathes some new life in the Cadillac brand. In the day I was a Cadillac fan, but of late, Cadillac has struggled to reclaim its former glory.
Another great review! I agree completely with your thoughts on these gimmicks that certain luxury car makers undertake. Just put on a regular door handle and a physical latch to undue the glove compartment. Seriously, you know these are things that will break unnecessarily with time.
Call your local Caddy dealer and ask them how long it will take to get one of these.... then ask them how many they've delivered. Just another over priced BEV that isn't being delivered. Grumpy is my middle name now.
I've been watching one of our local dealers and never see one for sale. When visiting for warranty work they were unplugging my CT6 2.0E plug-in I asked about the new L2 chargers and if they had plugged in some Lyriq's, they sold quite a few of them already but were special ordered where another local dealership has one on the lot.
1990 Miata with all options, package B in the US, was first Miata with the speakers in the headrests... and the first year of the Miata, so it has been available on them from the beginning. In markets that didn't get that option it was available in 1991 on the SE (BRG).
i got the first one sold in BC Canada and I Really Love it !! I really wasn't a Fan of Electric Car Though !! I Had Gas Engine Cadillac Before and I was Impressed Then But I Am Really Impressed With Lyriq.
Lyric is great Bang for your buck is amazing. But getting one is almost impossible. They are barely making any. It’s pathetic. GM really messed up the roll out on all electric vehicles. I ordered a polestar 3. It’s way more money, but sportier and a bit more “premium”. $115,000 after tax (Canadian).
@@BoriVakorn yes there were problems but I think they are worked out now. We had the 12 volt battery die which required towing. We had an issue with rear blinker light. We had issues with OTA updates. Despite those issues we do not regret the purchase. It’s been without issues for months since the initial stuff.
Stately. Cadillac has gently massaged (mostly) all the things that I love about their brand, whilst shelving (mostly) all of the Escalade’s pretentiousness. I like what, and where they are going with Cadillac. Perhaps Ford should have launched their Mach E, not as a Ford Mustang, but as the future of Lincoln - the technology, the novelty and price point. It probably would have drawn more customers to Lincoln showrooms then it did as an overpriced, questionably styled Mustang SUV. This new Cadillac was slow to actually get launched, but it looks like it might’ve been worth the wait. I’ve waited some time questioning if they’d actually bring their concept to market. And Cadillac did not disappoint. Thanks for the video.
Speaking of Lyrics… I’ve got a guitar loaded, beers packed, swim trunks packed and food/snacks prepped from last night to get back up to Aylen Lake. My dog (and wife) is so excited for another incredible weekend (also Birthday and 30th(?) wedding anniversary). And as a bonus its Father’s Day… have a great one Zack. After all… everything is about Family (though… zero kids this weekend. Yeah!).
My wife and I are both retired, and we both drive Cadillacs; CTS & XTS. We love the brand and service! I will trade my XTS by end of 2024. Looking at the CT5 with the V^ twin turbo. However, I just had my XTS in for service and they they gave me a Lyriq loaner. The door handle are the new pop-out and I hate them. They feel like the handle on a shed door!. The previous ones were really better. Okay here's what I can't wrap my bran around. If I was to go for the Lyriq, I don't understand all of the different charging lingo. Maybe you could do a video on CHARGING 101. I think most people (like me) just don't understand all of the different charging types ie. level 1, level 2 etc etc. Oh, and Cadillac just announced a smaller EV roughly the size of the XT5. Now that just might be the best deal on a Cadillac EV. You two do the best and most complete reviews. Thank you! Rick in Seattle
16:03 the on-board charger size influences home Level 2 charging only. It is not being used for fast DC charging where the energy flows directly to the battery.
I really love Cadillac. I really hated the Wait List. It created more stress and frustration in waiting to make a decision. I ultimately had to go to another Maker, a European Maker.........Audi. Cadillac rushed the car, before working out the Ultium battery issue and getting basic parts. It left Sales in a bind. I leased my car to try out EV. I'll have to find a way to get out of the lease and change Makers without losing my wallet in 3 years.
Wouldn’t it be compared to the Genesis GV70 Electrified instead? The GV60 is a subcompact SUV, this Lyriq is not with 20 inches of length over the GV60. Not quite Apples to Apples. Love your videos!
Once they fix the door handles I will take a second look…I do luxury Rideshare and you don’t want to annoy people with gimmicky junk(that will mostly likely break just outside of the warranty 😂)
Looks good. Hopefully the rollout goes far better this year. Acura is also getting a version of the Lyric called the ZDX next year. Be interesting to see how they differentiate the two. My guess is Acura will have a greaterfocus on the vehicle driving dynamics.
Nobody does driving dynamics better than _Cadillac._ People have compared the ride quality of the Lyriq to a Rolls Royce but simultaneously sporty and planted. That’s due to pure driving dynamics as the Lyriq doesn’t ride on air suspension or any active suspension at all. The Acura may be on the stiffer side and have a sportier characteristic, closer to the tuning of what the Chevrolet Blazer EV may be.
I think at the price this might be in a category of it’s own. The Model Y isn’t a luxury car. The GV60 is much smaller. That particular Audi is a glorified ID4, which isn’t bad really but just get an ID4. The Lexus has less than 200 miles a range with the top trim with 20 in tires, is quite a bit smaller, 300 hp in AWD and much slower level 2 charging. It’s a nice luxury car though. Only the non luxury Model Y gets the tax credit. Seems like that’s two different customers.
I think most people are being silly regarding range. 300 miles of range takes care of over 98% of personal driving. Forcing manufacturers to keep pushing battery ranges is hurting the proliferation of EVs of more moderately priced cars. Charging options are the easiest thing to expand. We need to get more inexpensive EVs out there and really tackle climate change.
That design is so well balanced, Modern and fresh but distinctly American and Cadillac. Those door handles have to go. Much better value, comfort and content that the others 4 you suggested
I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and I just wanna say I really enjoy when Zack does his hand ka-pow gesture right on time against the bell *ding*. keep up the great work you two, love the reviews!
I don't understand the need for full glass roofs in vehicles. It would seem that they would increase the interior heat, which means more air conditioning usage, which would require more energy use, which would be counterproductive in an electric vehicle where more energy would needed for range. 🤔
I've always bought GM cars. Chevy's for go fast and Caddy's for luxury until 2014 when I bought a KIA Optima SLX. I have an EV6 FE and was thinking about getting a LYRIQ because that's a sweet looking car with some great features. Until I saw a 2023 KIA K9 on CZcams, man if that car come to the US the LYRIQ would be my second choice.
Nice BEV for sure but very expensive, very scarce inventory and will take long time to get one. Also, some quirky designs that should’ve just been regular like door handles, missing rear wiper, shifter, etc. Again, just some of the reasons that make it hard for the masses to adopt and afford!
@@normt430, so as all the other BEVs whether luxury or non-luxury brand. So the cheapest $50-60K BEV in Cda is then affordable to the masses? I don’t think so. This is a knock on ALL BEVs!
Great review as usual. Would like if you could present a comparison chart or graphic for cargo capacity and legroom between the current car you're reviewing, the competitord, and your four alternatives presented later in the video.
Lots of info packed into another great video. Surprising to see GM doing so much better in terms of reliability. Given the pricing on some of the stalwart Japanese brands, GM seems to offer good value now as well.
@@nunyanope4988 A friend compared it to an Infiniti and said that the Cadillac was cheap. I owned two Cadillacs and Infiniti is a much better vehicle.
@@petervitti9 I work with GM, FCA, Ford, Honda, Nissan and Honda. In 7 yrs I’ve never seen a car have problems like these. They’re all dead & cannot be jumped. Out of maybe 150 cars, 3 drove out on their own. The rest are drug out on wreckers. Shame because aside from the head room of the back seat. They really are pretty cars. Not pretty enough to take that $60,000+ chance? GM is about quantity not quality. It’s sad to say but the only company that actually cares about their cars is Honda. Good luck and say no to the lyric, lol!
Beautiful vehicle in exterior and interior are awesome including the range is just awesome! But the price is a little high but very good in luxury level!! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
I thought this was going to be a great EV, had a deposit on one, but as this was going to be our long distance road tripper, the recent poor CCS fast DC charging across Canada, we opted for a Tesla Model Y long Range AWD. Might still go back to this car now that GM has pleged to use Tesla's NACS charging port starting in 2025 EVs, that would be a hit for road tripping in Luxury, style, and quiet comfort! It is a truly great car and the software is just behind Tesla's great system, you cannot beat Goggle Automotive in an EV!
I hope they are figuring things out with this vehicle as I’m interesting in the Blazer EV and the Equinox EV. The slow start of the Lyriq has me concerned. I called my local dealership and they said they weren’t confident that customers would be able to get a Blazer EV until 2025. At least that’s what the one salesman said. That’s fine with me as long as when it does come out it’s not full of issues.
Listen, I work with all the major OEM’s. Do not buy this car. We’ve had about 50 come thru our yard and probably 10 drove out on their own. There is something really wrong with the batteries and they cannot be jumped. All are being drug out on flat beds.
Great review. I'm totally in agreement with your practical criticisms. Techy door handles, no rear wiper blade, electronic glovebox, etc. These trends really need to die. You can still exude luxury with these "techy" affectations.
Big issue is will Cadillac provide long term quality and top tier service to match initial home runs on design and looks! It is a problem all manufacturers are facing due to shortage of high-Quality mechanical and technical workers in the world today! Younger Generation simply not interested in getting dirty or working hard I face it in the Construction industry. I have a friend that works for Cadillac and tells me the older Techs not willing to train on the Electric platform and not enough new hires to replace them!
Thanks for a great review of a vehicle I've been waiting to see reviewed. I wonder if those cargo space numbers are mostly a result of the highly sloped roofline, and in the real world won't actually be smaller effectively speaking. What I'm trying to say is, I don't load cargo higher than the back of the rear seat, so if I measured the depth and width of this Lyriq, I bet it's just as many *square* feet, which is what I'm mostly interested in. I don't suppose you measured the cargo space did you? I think that would be a great bit of extra information. Thanks again!
I considered buying the Lyric but, Cadillac went a little nuts with the chrome, and the range was a bit low for me so I bought the Tesla Model Y long range, and LOVE IT!! Cadi should keep at it, remove most of the chrome and simplify the design a bit, but stick with EV's.
Model Y gets less real world range actually. Sorry. Real world 70 mph tests people getting over 300 miles. Tesla usually is under EPA real-world range.
Great honest review. Nothing wrong with doing the same as Mercedes, let's face it. But is it available Mary Barra Blue? I see lip stick red is available.
Considering this is an XT5 equivalent, I simply cannot understand why Cadillac is producing these so slowly. The architecture (400v) has been around for sometime. A recent tear down done by Munro Associates shows nothing spectacular. I suspect the fact that the Hummer EV, which actually uses the 800v Ultium platform, could only be delivered to 2 (yes TWO) clients in Q1 2023, probably indicates issues. They built far more and made about 900 last year. There was a recall on pretty much all Hummers regarding high energy cables. The rather popular Bolt is largely a Korean car with little GM EV tech, whereas the Ultium is nearly all GM EV tech… like the Ultifi OTA tech… which is not as strongly used as was originally promised.
What I really like about ev is that it’s very hard for American and European automakers to make a non reliable power system for cars. So might really be able to buy these cars instead of leasing them
I was disappointed in the height the rear hatch opened up to. If you are over 6 foot, you'll have to duck down to load and unload items from the cargo area.
Do the flush door handles some manufacturers put on EVs REALLY improve drag that much? Kudos to Volvo and Toyota (and some others?) for going with normal ones.
EVERYTHING counts as far as aero drag. That big flat front is going to require considerable HP to push air out of the way. Worse still is the heavy battery. I have a Volt and an ELR and I get crappy mileage while running on the generator; both cars suffer because either you are hauling around an unused onboard generator or a mostly unused battery. But I love both cars, they are the two best cars I have ever owned in my 57 years of owning cars.
For all non-tesla EVs might need to wait until they start equipping them with NACS (tesla) charging port. GM and Ford promised it for 2025. I am waiting on japanese / korean and german ones to follow suit
They have redesigned the door handles for 2024, they now present similar to how the EV6 does. Then you just pull them to open the doors. Great video!

I had one preordered, took too long bought a rx 350h iland very happy with my decision not to go forward with the lyric and buy the Lexus instead. I live in Florida in a very congested area I get 40 miles to a gallon with the Lexus. It’s a great handling super comfortable well-built car.
I sold my Tesla and bought a RX500. Very happy with it. Also considered the Cadillac, but after living with the EV I really wanted a Hybrid this time.
I can't wait to see one on the streets very interesting vehicle looks good
It's time for a new review of the Lyriq.
First one I've seen in black. Looks dang good.
Great review as usual. I think the headrest speakers are used for active noise cancellation rather than music. The cabin is pretty quiet when on the road.🇨🇦
I sat in a LYRIQ a couple days ago and was shocked by how cheap looking the interior surfaces were. I was quite disappointed.
The best car design then of the Chevrolet Suburban of 1992 to 1999. And of course Volvo XC90.
Beautiful looking car, good range and base price US. But please real door handles!! Another great review guys 👍👍
Ours is 6 months old and 7000 miles we love it !
It's really beautiful for an American car (North American for you Canadians), it will definitely sell well.
I was on the waitlist and I could not wait anymore, I bought model Y instead. I’m so glad I did. I love my model Y
2024 Cadillac Lyriq is awesome!! Drives as smooth as driving a hot knife through butter!!! ❤
GM will sell no EV's before the batteries are made in Ohio, U.S.A.
(I’ve had two Tesla’s and have driven about 12 EV’s at various times)
The hatchback is very hard to see out of.
@@vickykennel7414 Always have been - the Lyriq will be my seventh Cadillac after a couple of decades of driving Toyotas and Mazdas.
@@vickykennel7414 we have never had problems with free service and seldom have warranty work. Just enjoy the coffee or free loaner car.
@@normt430 You won’t require much service.
You guys do such a great job on your reviews. Thank you!
GM’s announcement that they won’t offer Apple CarPlay on all future EV’s is a non starter for me.
The 2024 Lyriq's get a more traditional door handles.
It’s for security and not a luxury thing. In “valet mode” nobody can access the glovebox and a physical latch means you would need a physical key.
Great review as always! Thank you!
@@normt430 I asked here in Toronto and the dealer said 18 months. A joke.
1990 Miata with all options, package B in the US, was first Miata with the speakers in the headrests... and the first year of the Miata, so it has been available on them from the beginning. In markets that didn't get that option it was available in 1991 on the SE (BRG).
My first car was a 1984 Pontiac Fiero and it had speakers in the headrest.
i got the first one sold in BC Canada and I Really Love it !!
Finally! We pick ours up next month.
Is there any problems to share after using it?
Is there any problems to share after using it?
Yeah!).
im not sure how i feel about you always revving and breaking the speed limit in residential areas at the beginning of all your reviews.
Looks like it drives nice for those wanting a smoother ride but for that big of a battery I would expect a little more range and a Frunk,
The frunk was added to the longer than average legroom.
There are recent spy shots of the ZDX on the road. It looks more like the EV Blazer than an Acura 🤷♂️
Won’t be much difference besides interior and exterior styling and it’s still not going to be much different there.
If they test drive it, you can be assured they will recommend it! Everything they drive is wonderful.
Love it. At 1:50 it looks like the only way to access the batteries is to remove the body, seats, etc. Will minor issues cost many $K?
The batteries are held up with a tray underneath. It has 8-year, 100,000 mile warranty.
Problem with the bolt is its ugly... Period.
That design is so well balanced, Modern and fresh but distinctly American and Cadillac. Those door handles have to go.
Much better value, comfort and content that the others 4 you suggested
Front and interior looks great but the ass end is a fail. Shame, it was nearly a 100% on the desirability scale (for an EV).
Such a handsome vehicle. If I could afford one, I’d order it hahaha
I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and I just wanna say I really enjoy when Zack does his hand ka-pow gesture right on time against the bell *ding*. keep up the great work you two, love the reviews!
They killed it with the design, besides the door handles
Ready to see the Acura ZDX version of this. Spy shots are out and it looks pretty good.
She’s beautiful
I don't understand the need for full glass roofs in vehicles. It would seem that they would increase the interior heat, which means more air conditioning usage, which would require more energy use, which would be counterproductive in an electric vehicle where more energy would needed for range. 🤔
More head space with taller batteries/floor tray.
Strange... I don't think many Cadillac buyers would have "Kia" as a competitive vehicle.
Nice BEV for sure but very expensive, very scarce inventory and will take long time to get one. Also, some quirky designs that should’ve just been regular like door handles, missing rear wiper, shifter, etc. Again, just some of the reasons that make it hard for the masses to adopt and afford!
The luxury brands are supposed to be about exclusivity, not for everyone.
@@normt430, so as all the other BEVs whether luxury or non-luxury brand. So the cheapest $50-60K BEV in Cda is then affordable to the masses? I don’t think so. This is a knock on ALL BEVs!

The Bolt was within reason, especially with tax credits.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
This car is trash, plz don’t buy it.
@@nunyanope4988 A friend compared it to an Infiniti and said that the Cadillac was cheap. I owned two Cadillacs and Infiniti is a much better vehicle.
@@nunyanope4988Totally agree. JD Power is basically owned by GM government motors and China.
😂😂😂
Beautiful vehicle in exterior and interior are awesome including the range is just awesome! But the price is a little high but very good in luxury level!! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
This is a good looking EV, Cadillac did a nice job and it competes well within the luxury segment price wise.
@@andreaspencer9813 I agree! 👍🏻👍🏻
The Pontiac Fiero had head rest speakers too. 84-86
Yet another reason to wait before buying any ev. They are not perfected and the technology is always changing.
That’s fine with me as long as when it does come out it’s not full of issues.
what a car salesman says is no evidence of anything.
Listen, I work with all the major OEM’s. Do not buy this car. We’ve had about 50 come thru our yard and probably 10 drove out on their own. There is something really wrong with the batteries and they cannot be jumped. All are being drug out on flat beds.
Great EV for the money...lots of value. Much more style indde and out than Tesla. Now if GM could actually deliver them in decent numbers.
They keep hiking the price up and so it's not really a good value anymore.
Absolutely worth the wait!
Seems to be a real winner in about five years after they work all the initial bugs.
Great review. I'm totally in agreement with your practical criticisms. Techy door handles, no rear wiper blade, electronic glovebox, etc. These trends really need to die. You can still exude luxury with these "techy" affectations.
There is no wiper because GM says the way the back window is designed should take care of the rain.
Those older techs are still shoeing horses.
I saw one in Dundarave recently. Very nice in real life!
what a beautiful car
Thanks for a great review of a vehicle I've been waiting to see reviewed. I wonder if those cargo space numbers are mostly a result of the highly sloped roofline, and in the real world won't actually be smaller effectively speaking. What I'm trying to say is, I don't load cargo higher than the back of the rear seat, so if I measured the depth and width of this Lyriq, I bet it's just as many *square* feet, which is what I'm mostly interested in. I don't suppose you measured the cargo space did you? I think that would be a great bit of extra information. Thanks again!
I'll wait for the Lyriq-V model, thank you.
Premium product.
Your quoting price for the Tesla model Y was incorrect Terms has lowered the price to $50K US
Canadian price
It’s even lower now…😂😂😂😂
I considered buying the Lyric but, Cadillac went a little nuts with the chrome, and the range was a bit low for me so I bought the Tesla Model Y long range, and LOVE IT!! Cadi should keep at it, remove most of the chrome and simplify the design a bit, but stick with EV's.
Model Y gets less real world range actually. Sorry. Real world 70 mph tests people getting over 300 miles. Tesla usually is under EPA real-world range.
It was!
Great honest review. Nothing wrong with doing the same as Mercedes, let's face it. But is it available Mary Barra Blue? I see lip stick red is available.
Every time I see this car Labrinth's song for it pops in my head.
Many things to like: front side views are great: the rear is a large bustle. am sure its a nice ride.
GM definately gets it
Do the flush door handles some manufacturers put on EVs REALLY improve drag that much? Kudos to Volvo and Toyota (and some others?) for going with normal ones.
EVERYTHING counts as far as aero drag. That big flat front is going to require considerable HP to push air out of the way.
Worse still is the heavy battery. I have a Volt and an ELR and I get crappy mileage while running on the generator; both cars suffer because either you are hauling around an unused onboard generator or a mostly unused battery. But I love both cars, they are the two best cars I have ever owned in my 57 years of owning cars.
Andrea sounds like the voiceover on a Cadillac commercial when she’s listing the features
For all non-tesla EVs might need to wait until they start equipping them with NACS (tesla) charging port. GM and Ford promised it for 2025. I am waiting on japanese / korean and german ones to follow suit
