I recently sold my Forza 500 and bought 3 fs300. The difference really utilizes that law of diminishing returns. Plus the fs300 has a much better spread to help fill out soft boxes and other diffusion really well.
@@matthewjackson2656 as a hard source, the forza will have sharper shadows as is a single led compared to the led array found in the fs300 which will create a checkered effect. That being said, as soon as you diffuse it, the shadows should look the same as the light is scattered through the fabric and the checkered effect is eliminated.
@@uncosminreels yep! The FS300 is insanely good value for using with diffusion. I tested mine with a Sekonic C800 light meter and got an extended CRI of 98, Daylight SSI of 77. Nothing else compares at this price point.

I made some interviews with the fs150 and a softbox in the middle of the day... there is a great difference in comparisson with the gvm lights that we have, is not that we can turn off the sun, but the quality it's much better.... thanks for the comparison! I'm filmmaker and i need a light that coming out of the window and make the room or chicken sunny. Is that fs300 is good for that since the forza 500 is too expensive. Sorry for my poor english.
Thank you so much! Perhaps this will help. When I make these videos and I sit in front of the window I am lit with a 90cm parabolic softbox. I need about 300 on a cloudy day and 500 or 720 on a sunny day. Maybe 2 300s would accomplish what you need while still not costing nearly as much as the 500.
I know you're all about lighting people- but I'm wondering if that 300 in something like a lantern soft box can light up a basic living room or kitchen for something like real estate videography - making window pulls a little more obtainable...?
I wouldn't characterize it that way at all. The difference is significant. Plus moving a light closer is not always possible, like the set-up I used for this video.
Also the turning on the FS300 is like stepping onto an air craft carrier, its fan is particularly loud. If you're obsessive about managing ambient light, that extra stop of light the 500 provides is crucial.
One stop is double of the light so 2/3 stop isn't small at all. If you can put the light closer you can do it with the forza 500 too.. the question is what do you need. The fs-300 is much cheaper, it's bulkier and it don't has a ballast
Given that parabolas do not have flat bottoms, none of the photography products using this word are parabolic. So I’m not sure why I would mention its not parabolic when every “para” modifier isn’t parabolic.

I did hear say Nanlite say the Forza is a harder source, so that makes sense.

Perhaps a 720 could make a room on a cloudy day closely match the brightness outside.

they might call that a para but it is definitely not parabolic and I'm surprised you didn't point that out.
