I just started fly fishing about a year ago, and started tying flies in December. Your videos have helped me tie a ton of flies that have started catching me fish. Thanks for all the different techniques that you have taught me. I'm in the mountains of the western U.S. and love your videos. Flies working great over here for me
Davie, Your flies are a work of art. I started tying many years ago when I worked in Alex Martin's in Exchange Square, but they mostly ended up looking like something that had been dragged through a hedge backwards! I joined the Dalry Garnock club this year which has re-kindled my interest and then discovered your videos. What a difference... I can now tie flies that actually resemble living beasties. I enjoy your presentation and attention to detail. Thanks, Colin W
David, I love your instructional videos, and appreciate them a lot. Could I request that you include a list of your tying ingredients in the description of your videos? Thanks, Quinn
lovely pattern there Davie, you mentioned using bleach to clear the hearl of the peacock eye, do you just leave the eye soak in a bowl of household bleach for a few hours? would it work with dyed peacock eyes aswell?
Hi Dave, simple question regarding cdc puffs, do they have the same float ability as regular cdc. Since the feather is smaller, I'm considering them for emergers and f flies
Another great video, Davie! What sort of resin and torch do you use? I have been using the Loon UV fly finish, thin formula, and it seems a bit tacky to the touch, even after hitting it with the torch. Thanks for all your efforts!
Hi 8626John, If you coat the resin with a fine coat of varnish you'll find it will not be tacky any more, all of the resins that I've tried have been like this and it was the same when I used the old epoxy resins as well... All the very best Davie
Hi Rob, I have lightly brushed on a fine varnish and rubbed the quill with my finger so that it sticks then I'll put on an other couple of layers of varnish to seal it, though I would normally start again if it splits..Merry Christmas.. All the very best Davie
Hi rod cornelius, I tye these flies for friends that fish competitions, they will fish them in many ways from just keeping in touch with them to pulling them fast or slow but this is also with other flies so it can be anywhere in the cast.. All the very best Davie

Davie, why do you coat the Peacock Eye feather with head cement after coating it with UV Resin? Won't the UV Resin hold up?
Dave wats the best way to bleach the peacock eye I tried it and the hurl just breaks is there a good way to do it
things like that happen to you too Davie!lol

Hi davie just wondering do you have a tying for the campto midge ?
If a hearl splits is there any way to rescue it or just kill the fly?
