  • Winter is fast approaching and many will be cleaning up their tackle and packing the kit away for another season. Some will no doubt be ramping up and getting ready for their Winter season on the small Stillwaters. I like to mix my fishing up a bit and will be filling my time with both Grayling on the rivers and Trout on the Stillwaters.
This little killer has worked everywhere I have taken it on both small and large stillwaters alike. I need to do some work on my on fly boxes which are looking a little sorry for themselves. This will definitely be on the Winter replenishment list. What flies will you be tying over the winter? Let me know in the comments below.

I learn lots of techniques that will make me a better fly tier and angler. I really appreciate your style of instructions. BTW…make ancestors are from the Isle of Skye.

Hi Lindsay, really nice pattern, the Pearl lurex is a real attractor, I’ve tied them with blue and green lurex and had great success , especially the blue. Thanks again for another great video.Regards Jimf

Tied a couple . First one forgot the cheeks, second one remembered them then buried them attempting a head . Still confident they will catch me fish as they are the best looking cormorants I've tied down to the fact you actually gave a decent indication of how much marabou I should use for a wing

Depending on conditions and what part of the season. Blob fab boobie or daddy variations. They entice the fish in then it takes the cormorant. Even down to a 16 when fish are hook shy they work. On hard days they can be used in the blobs role with small crunchers ptns hares ear reds crippled midge reds or even owls. When all day every day all the trout see huge bright in your face WTF was that stripped past them at high speed. Subtle works. On one of your trips back in the day. I think it was on Rutland an England qualifier was on. You avoided the crowds. Kept out of the way with your boat partner enjoyed the day afterwards the organiser told you it had been a hard day with top rods struggling to catch six. While you and your mate had boated sixteen each. On that day you read the water correctly. They did not choose the right locations and methods.

I remember that day the other angler was Jock Kettles. It was at Bewl and the very day the Kit Kat Cup was born ;-)
