    Never heard this version or of VP before but love the contrast with RH original, this more uplifting in tone and feel. I wanna hear more of VP. Excellent !!

    Anthony can also be found in Voiceplay's "Golden Hour" (which also has Geoff's wife Kathy in it, though she doesn't sing), "The Wellerman," "Seven Nation Army," and several shorts. He a fantastically talented young man.

    I you don't get the feels from VoIcePlay, you never will. So much emotion in their voices. You're right, this is more about angst than the original. They have a wide circle of friends in the industry they've worked with many times, to draw on.

      But the unique thing here is the arrangement. Eli does the lighting for nearly every video, even many of Geoff's solo ones.

    My favorite, creatively and complexity wise, is their Queen in 5 minutes. It's very intimidating when you try to take on any Queen song and their mashup is fantastic. Highly recommend! I haven't seen many reactors react to it at all and it deserves so much attention.

  • @EtherealForever
    @EtherealForever Před 2 měsíci +5

    Thanks Dale!! VP always pays homage to the original, but adds their own spin plus highlight elements of the original that probably needs to he highlighted. Wonderful arrangement by Eli! Would love to see more VP on your channel. 🌹🕊

    Thanks for your reaction and coming back to Voice Play! This one was different as it was pretty much all Eli's production. (Eli always does the lighting and technical effects but usually the vocal arrangements and editing is Geoff or Layne- Eli did arrangement and editing on this one). Yes, I love the different featured guests as well and they are all such a good fit because they are close friends that have known or worked with Voice Play over the years. You have not had a chance to check out Voice Play with a featured female singer yet so I am going to recommend "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and "Little Mermaid Medley" for a start to featured female voices.

    This is in my Voiceplay Top Five. It's my favorite rendition of this song. Eli arranged it. He managed to keep it true to the Radiohead version, but make it Voiceplay's own. I do wonder why the camera doesn't flash on Eli at the end.

  • @markhodge7

    I agree it's a very different vibe than Radiohead's. Postmodern reference is astute. Songs can tell different stories when the musical vibe is different.

    As always, great reaction. I love Creep. There are a lot of covers out there. PMJ was great, Haley Rinehart is incredible. The song Creep is it's own rabbit hole. Another great one if you are so inclined is by Brian Justin Crump from America got talent. His voice and range is amazing. Thank you for your reactions I love watching reactions and you two are definitely among my favorites. Keep up the great work. God Bless ✌️❤️🙏

    The first time I heard this (the official version) I was 'lukewarm' about it. Mostly because of my love of the PMJ version with Haley. BUT... after hearing this a few time, it has really grown on me! I'm glad Dale recommends (pays for) you to do VoicePlay numbers. I think your reactions to VP are great! I ALWYS check in for a cappella stuff! Great job on this one!

    This is one of my favorite versions of Creep. Cesar's emotional intro and outro are just great and the theme of looking at yourself in the mirror is brilliant. Anthony is also in Seven Nation Army and Golden Hour. He's incredible.
    I was never a big fan of the Radiohead original. Brian Justin Crum did an exceptional rendition of Creep on AGT.
    Great reaction! Looking forward to your next one!!

    Look closely at Cesar's eyes and expression...he really demonstrates the "I don't belong", and the related despair.

    I don’t know whether it’s just me or not, but I always found other covers of this gave me a real incel stalker vibes and I’ve never liked the song because of it. This is more self reflective and as an introvert I really appreciate that. I think we all question ourselves from time to time but other covers have sort of had the feeling of assigning blame. This is by far my favorite.
    The music from the outro is the karaoke track. They started doing this a few years ago and it sometimes makes you listen more carefully to the BGVs and relisten to the whole thing.

    It wasn't until I heard an a capella version of Creep, or maybe it was Mimi and Josefin, that I heard the word "weirdo". Until then what I heard was "I'm a creep, I'm a widow", which made absolutely no sense!

      @janetdw Před 2 měsíci

      I think that is one of the reasons why I like a capella so much. The diction is so clear that the lyrics reach out as much as the melody.

    In personal preferred order leaving out the once already reacted on the channel: Hellfire; Wicked; Oogie Boogie's song, Hall of the Mountain King, We don't talk about Bruno,Sleeping in the cold below. There are more but i guess it is enough for the next weeks and month.

    I had never heard the song before hearing VoicePlay do it and when I went back to the original, it seemed to me that Radiohead's version of the louder and more energetic portions of the song sounded angry rather than the hurt and despair that seemed to color VP's version.

    "Bang!" I'm not firing at you or anyone. It's a VoicePlay cover of a kind of unusual song. There's another featured guest, who is absolutely amazing! And the arrangement is typical VoicePlay: energetic, complex, skilled and fun. Check it out!

    Voiceplays cover is amazing, but you can’t compare it with PMJs version, yes it’s the same song, but it’s sung in different genres, both amazing in their own way, but VP did an amazing job with this song 👍👍👍

    I find these American glee type covers so boring to be honest. The best cover of creep done in a different genre was done by G4. A british operatic group did it in a talent show x factor 20 years ago.
