Voiceplay always pays homage to the original but it is never cookie cutter.
I am always pleased with the way they make the lyrics so crystal clear. Makes the message so much easier to understand!
Thank you Dale 😉. VP was quite upfront about the fact that this is a Cyberpunk version. Eli/Layne arrangement. Difficult to do a capella and I feel they did a great job.

This song simply invites interpretive renditions. Love it! Comparing the versions is like comparing 2 classic cars, even though one is new. Every decade needs to release this song.
The clarity of VoicePlay's lyrics is something I really appreciate , as being old and with some hearing issues, It's nice to be able to make out the words.
Eli and Anthony passing those runs back and forth is always my favorite and a blessing to the ears lol 😂
Glad you checked out the original Soundgarden version first. Geoff is visible in the first guitar solo creating the underlying vocal sound that's then treated in post. I wasn't a huge fan of the original (and I'm sure some SG fans won't like the VP version), but I really think Voiceplay fully honored Chris Cornell RIP) with this release. Every time I listen to the Voiceplay version, I love it more and appreciate the Soundgarden version even more. Great reaction as always!!
And I’m the exact opposite. There’s quite a few groups of singers that do this kind of thing. Rework music that isn’t theirs. It’s basically vocal masturbation. Always cringe worthy imo 🤷🏻♂️
Great reaction, understanding and appreciation for all the talent of all members of Voice Play. Voice Play is not afraid to take risks and continue to amaze us with their growth and creative way they try new things. Some Sound Garden and Chris Cornell fans had a hard time liking and appreciating this cover. I personally love this and the original.
The original video looks like too much wacky weed going on psychedelic wise.
I liked the original when it came out, and I like Eli's arrangement here. Different from the original yes, but room for both version IMO.
The guy that wrote the song while driving in his car. It was just a bunch of words put together just as a suggestive piece.
Geoff does layer his "electric guitar" which is what you heard. Layne's beatboxing is seriously good because it let's the baritone/tenors really shine. Try Sleeping in the Cold Below, another very recent one.
I didn't know Geoff Castellucci was in this. I highly recommend his video cover of "Sixteen Tons" on his channel.

Peter Frampton covers this song mostly as an instrumental. It’s very true to the original and showcases his guitar prowess. The live version is truly a masterpiece.

If you like comedy, you should react to something by "The Hillywood Show." They make epic musical parodies, from SO MANY movies and TV shows. Their Lord Of The Rings parody is one of my favorites, as old as it is, and when it came out, Sean Astin tweeted how much he liked it! Samwise himself. 💙

When I first heard Voiceplay's version I was utterly stunned... And though it was pure musical genius for me, I also thought not everybody would like it because what they did sounds so unique and unusual (and I did not take into account the legendary status of the original version).
The purist fans who claim it's "wrong" seem to forget Soundgarden did quite a few covers of other bands/singers, totally changing the songs' feel and sound... 🤦♀️
But there's nothing wrong with not liking this version, or not getting the feel of it... what I don't get is the utter childish disrespect in some of the comments. Are these guys 5 years old or what ? 🤷♀️
Fantastic reaction. I've seen a couple reactors who don't like this one because it's so different from the original, even though they usually LIKE that Voiceplay has a different take on a song. Some people seem to hold the original song sacred, perhaps because Chris Cornell died. I respect that, highly. However, I like this version better, the original, as good as it is, never hit me as hard as this one does.💙

I cannot deny they have talents but, this was just some kind of wrong. It’s like it had no heart or soul, song felt empty. Sometimes I think certain things are just better left alone in the way they were originally intended. This is one of those things.
