    I increased the size hose and fitting going to the prop shaft which makes more water go thru the heat exchanger

    I just bought a 55 year old Grand Banks that has been sitting idle for about 6 years. I'm having all of the coolers and heat exchangers professionally refurbished. There were a few small leaks, and about half of the tubes were clogged.
    Doing much, much more to bring her back to life. But, this is a good start.

    • @NoRegretsLifestyle

      The small coolers should be replaced not boiled out

    • @timgreen4137

      @@NoRegretsLifestyle they are being refurbished and pressure tested. Should be good for about another 5 years. The boat was decommissioned/winterized about 6 years ago.

    Couldn’t help but notice you still have your oil filter upside down. I finally got new hoses and flipped it right side up. What a huge aggravation saver.

    Never had a problem with the original CAV style fuel filters in 40 years of fitting, changing and modifying them and rebuilding injectors pumps and turbos on these D-series Ford engines.
    Biggest issue is people dont know the o-rings are 2 x different sizes. One o-ring (square section) will/should have either a Blue/White or Yellow stripe on it. This ring always goes into the top of the filter head.
    I wouldve added to check the oill level in the injector pump cambox (50 hours) and change it every engine oil change. Only use same oul as the engine takes.
    Most of the issues I see with the Minimec pumps are from lack of oil or diesel dilution.

    Any chance you words of wisdom for someone who owns a 73' Pacific trawler with the same engine? We would like to install a KUUMA hot water heater. There apears to be an obvious "return" line that bypasses the Exchanger from the top RAD tank and then loops back to the line into the block. Additionaly we cant seem to locate the Hot Water Thermosat!!! THOUGHTS? TY

    Hi All ,, I know nothing of the spin on filters you speak of and live in Australia where the diesel is much cleaner than some places in the world , I must come to the defence of the CAV type filters , I've operated Massy Ferguson tractors since 1960 , all have 2 CAV filters some have had the glass/ plastic sediment bowls where you can see if there's any water or containments like the Racor filters ,,, and never had 1 leak ,, keep up the vids , Russ.

      I think its just so tight down in the engine room of these small boats that its just hard to change them.

    Really nice channel! -- QUESTION --- Could you replace a Ford Lehman with a Beta Marine on a trawler? Is there any Beta that would be a good size to replace a 120hp Lehman?? Any thoughts on that (assuming they fit etc just wondering if they Beta would be powerful enough)

    Suggestions on where to source the coolers (engine/tranny)?

  • @stephenscanlan9491
    @stephenscanlan9491 Před 2 lety +2

    I contacted American Diesel about the spin on fuel filter and received the following response:
    "Racor sells a spin-on adapter, elements, and drain bowl that can be installed to replace the existing elements.
    The part number (containing no numbers) is INCAV and this uses two of the four existing seals to install under the existing filter head. We do not sell this system as it doesn't fit very well, but we have attached images for you to view."
    I am I requesting the wrong item or is this possibly different on the 6N140?

    • @NoRegretsLifestyle
      @NoRegretsLifestyle  Před 2 lety

      Yes I have talked with Brain also about this. These were on my boat so I am not sure about the conversion. but after looking at it I think it's about the placement is where the issue is. I think someone who understands and adapts can figure it out.

    It looks like your fuel lines where cut and partly replaced with rubber hose and fuel clamps so the hose canister assembly was able to fit.
    Is this correct?

    Nice! -- QUESTION -- Would an engine like that lehman be as fuel efficient as a new engine like a Beta Marine? A friend told me that due to electronics, new diesel marine engines are not as fuel efficient as older "mechanical" engines? Does that make sense to you?

      @@NoRegretsLifestyle ...interesting.. I am beginning to like your trawler more and more each day. I thought I would never be able to enjoy this life unless I could buy a Nordhavn or Fleming, but maybe just maybe I could get something like smaller and much less expensive.
