Like you I’ve fallen out of love with the game , it’s too woke , the players are overpaid and the tickets are far too expensive….. It’s no longer a working class game for the people……
Ye them special trains out of lime st, all's u could get to eat on the train were star bars crisps and cans of coke, remember doin 2 trips to Norwich great days, so different now
Proper football before rich foreign businessmen turned it into a game of money and greed...look at man city now...from nothing to best in the world...all because of trillionaire arabs buying any player they want, paying them what they want etc...its just a huge personall game to them...like us playing cards...football is finished now...after following the blues from a little boy, i dont even watch ANY games now..there ate no real stars, and the richest clubs just dominate...its not about ability..its simply teams like city and not so long back chelsea...buying ALL of the best players...homegrown talent means jack shit now
God I miss those days. I used to love football so much. Since 2000 we've just drifted apart to the extent I no longer watch the game.

I couldn't agree more. From a gooner. Too much tippitappi. No real football anymore.
Loads of us went to this game on the special, 2 trains 7.50 return took from 8.00am got into the ground at 2.45 and home at 11.45
Still the best Everton side of all time come on Everton 💙💙💙💙💙
What a player Barnesy was. Kendall should have bought him right after the game.
I was thinking exactly the same thing as I watched the game. How did Watford hang onto Barnes for so long ?
Everton refused to pay the £10k a week Barnes & his agent wanted, hence why he went to Liverpool.
@@mrlister2000 Is that true? Oh dear.
And what then ? Drop Sheedy ? Have to remember it wasn't as much of a squad game back then.
@@JayEFC1969 Put Sheedy in the centre.
I was 16 and these 2 clubs were massive back then. Don't think Watford won anything but they were high profile.
Wouldn't say Watford were ever maassive , but they were punching very much above their weight then.
They were always one of the smaller first division clubs
Who's the cameraman? Oliver Reed?

You can imagine how many clubs would have wanted Barnes at this time
What good game whoo come on Everton 💙💙💙💙
Defences had the day off here.
motd has come along way since these days!!
I suspect this was a club video - hence the naff commentating and duff camera work. I remember MOTD being more professional than that back then
@@matthewleslie4448 It was.
Mistake after mistake but what a game!
The same year Everton beat Watford in the Fa cup final.
nets changed for the better
