    GM quality, because those bulbs are under the odometer and extremely difficult to change, they couldn't install LEDs at the factory. I'm liking the newer cars less and less. Good video, thank you.

    • @EndOfLineTech
      @EndOfLineTech Před rokem

      What are you on about? They were soldered in, changing a soldered in LED is the exact skill level as soldering in in incandescent light… unless you look to apparently future cars if this is “new” to you where the leds are the size on an atom yeah, that’s a different story.
      Also, what does that have to do with the factory not being able to do it? They would obviously put the bulbs in first before the display… 😮 amazing. Wow, it’s amazing they put all those components in this screwed together cluster unit! How did they do that! They must have some magical machinery! No way they built it from the bottom up! That’s silly!!! They screwed and clipped the cluster together then put the circuit board in there. Duh, it’s like building a house, you put the roof on before putting the walls or supporting structure up! Keep the workers dry while they do that!!!!🙄
      Also also, “new clusters bad, you can’t replace the bulbs easily like we could in the 80s” well that depends I know unscrewing a bulb is a lot for your boomer mind, but most anyone who davels in repair from the newer generations can replace soldered lights, sure it’s not as easy but it’s a skill that since technology has been in our lives we’re much more akin to knowing how to do that. Kinda like you guys and ruining the economy it just came easy to you.
      Also also also… even with bulbs that are easily replaceable in the cluster still no one does it I have not seen in my life an older Chevy with proper (not China led garbage replacements), or fully functional lighting. Not once. Even though it’s literally as easy as unscrewing a lightbulb. So, since no one is gona bother fixing it, why make it easy to fix and instead use equipment that most of the time will FAR exceed a vehicle’s lifespan.
      Also also also also, wait till you hear about way way in the future (2020+) cars that it’s literally just a “Picture Box”.

      Yes the electric desoldering tool is a game changer. As you know removing components (especially through hole with multiple leads) is the most challenging part of PCB repair. But this tool makes it so much easier.
      Eeproms aren't perfect. They also fail in TV's and computers regularly. The odometer value is typically stored in three different sections of the Eeprom and compared the value to each other to help cut down on errors. But sometimes that just isn't enough.
