      Thanks for commenting Tony. It was an epic ride and made more enjoyable due to the good company of Mike and Julie. I even got to hear three (I think) 'yehaas' but only caught two on film...if I remember correctly. 👍

    Really enjoy your videos. Thanks for taking the time to post them. I also subscribe to wheelers at large so it was good to see them. I love a bit of road cycling but, by the looks of it, you're a vit ahead of me because that final climb would have killed me.

      Thanks Kevin for commenting. It was a good day on the bike but a long day. We had a good laugh. I was a little concerned about doing that climb as it was so long but we took it slowly and we were fine 👍

    Enjoying your videos Peter but struggling to find the Strava link for the ride. There’s 15 of us heading out to Mallorca in May and we’ll be tackling the mighty Puig during our epic Andratx to Port Pollensa ride 😅

      @TahirAli-rw1jt Thank you for commenting. You're quite right, looks like I forgot to add the Strava link to the video description 😳. I've amended that now but thank you for pointing it out 👍. To save you looking, it's strava.app.link/NknUjyZzuIb
      Hope you have a great time in May, it really is a good climb from the Sóller side. I actually found it easier, despite it being longer, than Sa Calobra. Ride safe 🚴👍

    It's the longest, and the highest... apart from the very infrequent days they open the military road to the summit of Puig Mayor.

      Hi @oliverstuart , thanks for commenting. Longest and highest will do for me. I think I enjoyed this climb more than Sa Calobra. Have you ridden it yourself?

      Give it a whirl. Alaro is a great place to base a cycling holiday if you don't need a beach...... if you do, Palmanova and Peguera have some cycling friendly hotels and decent bike rental shops.@@LivandTrekGoCycling

    My second favourite on the island, best for me is Coll de Sóller. Personally, I rank Sa Calobra as 4th or 5th

    • @LivandTrekGoCycling
      @LivandTrekGoCycling  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Hi Ken, thanks for commenting. I really must seek out Coll de Sóller as you the 2nd person to mention it to me. What makes it number 1 in your opinion?

    • @kenwynn3871
      @kenwynn3871 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @LivandTrekGoCycling it's a great classic "two side" mountain, both sides have a lot (23 and 28) of hairpins and beautiful views, the side from Sóller is more shaded and tree lined for hot days, and there's a great cafe at the top, as well as Sóller and Bunyola at either side. But best of all the highway ma11 now goes through a tunnel, so the road you cycle on is almost traffic free!

      @LivandTrekGoCycling I'm going in July (yes I know it'll be hot lol) and so excited can't wait. Was last there in 2019 but covid years interrupted my return plans. Will be hitting Coll de Sóller a few times, and the rest of my top 5 list; Puig Major, Sa Batalla, Coll de la Creu, Sa Calobra. Honorable mentions being Galilea, and Port de Valldemossa. And plan to do Formentor and Randa for the first time too

    Well done and a great ride. But I wonder why you thought the cars at 23:40 were naughty? To me they were just cars. Quite nice cars actually.
    And when it comes to the motorbikes...why put yourself in extra danger by frequently riding so close to the center line? Why not keep right as much as possible when climbing?

    • @LivandTrekGoCycling
      @LivandTrekGoCycling  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Hi, thanks for commenting and the compliment, I appreciate that. The cars were naughty as they were making too much noise for my commentary to be heard clearly by the listener. That was a light hearted comment made on my part. As for riding towards the middle of the road, I was cycling alongside someone else when climbing and interviewing her. When considering 'wrongs committed' I think the majority of people would agree that the speed the motorbikes travelled at was the greatest wrong. Would you not agree?

    • @patricoscarsson2839
      @patricoscarsson2839 Před 3 měsíci +1

      OK, I get it about the cars. It's tough being a CZcamsr trying to get high quality content for their viewers. :) :)
      And I totally agree (of course) that the bikers by far are the worst. But I also realize that it's a battle that is hard to win. Most probably it will be the cyclist that gets hurt the most in case of an accident so better be safe than sorry.
      I'm soon back again for my 9th week of cycling in Mallorca. If I may come with a little advice, it is to try the mountains south of Soller if you haven't already done that.
      There it is much less traffic and especially the motorbikes seems to like the northern parts the most. Palma - Calvia - Es Capdella - Galilea - Puigpunyent - Esporles - Valldemossa - Deia (or along the goast going to Andratx after Es Capdella and then Estellencs - Banyalbufar - Esporles) is such a nice ride, very calm and beautiful.
      You can take the train from Sa Pobla to Palma to save your legs a bit.
      Ride safe!
