Youre the man. There were a bunch of videos talking about how this cant be down without the key. I even called a lock smith. Thanks to your video I got it out before I got a call back 😂 Good work, man. Thanks again!

Brotha, you just solved my problem!! My door tumbler just spins and I now know that the plastic T piece was missing and the spring and block fell off (found it in the door but didn’t know where it went)! Such a good video with an amazing explanation!

Nice Video. To get the tumbler out of the first one, instead of picking the at wafers you can insert your own key, then it comes out. When you pull your key out you'll have a wafer mess but you didn't want it anyways.

Thanks a lot man! I got exactly the same problem on my 1994 325 e36 coupe. Did cleaning, re-lubricating the door latch but the problem remains and now even worst. I’m going with the handle as you described here. 👍🏼

The car locks use wafers simmilar to pins on house locks. But car keys can go in upsidown. The electical connections are for heater control and power lock and auto close windows double lock. Without them you lost a few functions. Only problem with used door parts is the also break new versions were available for $250 unless you like working on the car. Did it take you 6 hours?

Thanks for the info about the electrical connections. I opted to get a used one from the junkyard cus its way cheaper. Also I enjoy working on cars so i don't mind trading time to save money. I don't remember how long this took cus it was a while ago. Maybe a few hours?

If you remove the spring and block from the mechanism how does it go back in seems it’s just breaks it and I can’t get I back in?

Is it aligned properly? The block has a protruding line on one side (see 15:59) that might need to be aligned with the hole before it can go in
