In this video, I say "clutch fan" a lot when it's usually called a "fan clutch." Technically, the fan clutch is composed of two parts, the clutch (because it uses a clutch mechanism), and the fan blades. Therefore, "fan clutch" should be used to refer to the clutch, and "clutch fan" should be used to refer to the complete assembly, fan blades with clutch attached to it. Just my 2 cents though. ...

    • @brandonong2508
      @brandonong2508 Před 10 měsíci

      I don't think they'd allow you to get cut out parts since junk yards usually only have part pricing pricing for bolt on parts. I would just find someone local that's parting out and ask to cut a part off. Or you can use plain sheet metal like I did. Third option is to buy a floorpan repair panel from valcas garage or a similar site.

    how did you get the carpet out without removing the dashboard? do you have AC?

    • @brandonong2508
      @brandonong2508 Před rokem

      Check out my interior swap video if u want to see carpet removal. I have AC. Dashboard removal isn't necessary if you're willing to cut some of the carpet. You'd need to cut two lines, where the carpet sits on top of the transmission tunnel/under the heater box. It's okay because the cut parts are hidden behind the shifter surround. If you don't want to cut, you'd have to remove dash, heater box, dashboard bracing (need to move steering column out of the way for this), ... long process. In my video "E36 - Removing Sound Deadening, Finding Water Leak, Fixing Heater Box Coolant Leak" at 11:25, you can see the portion of the old brown carpet that still remains, it's under the heater box.

    The car locks use wafers simmilar to pins on house locks. But car keys can go in upsidown. The electical connections are for heater control and power lock and auto close windows double lock. Without them you lost a few functions. Only problem with used door parts is the also break new versions were available for $250 unless you like working on the car. Did it take you 6 hours?

      Trust me those aren't that bad, e36's are still rather simple for what they are and his is obd2 so at least the diagnostic tools can do something and telll you things. I have an e36 too but an earlier one so it doesn't have obd2, meaning if it has some problem and you've diagnosed everything mechanical and you think it's some electronic bullshit that's bad like a sensor or something, well good luck because you're not gonna have the luxury of plugging in a scanner and just reading what's wrong.
