"Alright" is a song by American singer Janet Jackson from her fourth studio album, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989). Written by Jackson and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, the song was released on March 4, 1990, by A&M Records as the fourth single from Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814.
While it was to become the only single of the seven released off the Rhythm Nation 1814 album to not hit the top-two on the US Billboard Hot 100, reaching number four, it became the fourth consecutive single from the album to reach number one on the Dance Club Songs, helping Jackson break a record set by Madonna. "Alright" earned Jackson two 1991 Grammy Award nominations for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song.

I feel so blessed that Janet premiered this video for the first time ever at one of her DC area shows back in 90 on the Rhythm Nation tour . I was fortunate enough to be at both shows and ticket prices were so much cheaper in those days. You should check out her live performance of this from The Jackson Family Honors show. She opened the show, tore the place down and left. 😆

That's such a cool memory. For our show of the RN1814 tour in Edmonton, Canada - janet premiered the new 'Black Cat' video which was the up coming single, it was like seeing a concert before her actual concert. It was very exciting!.... Also at the end of Miss You Much, when the lights went down, she was wearing an Edmonton Oiler hockey jersey before the Miss U Much chair routine... I remember it made the whole coliseum erupt cause it was like janet was being so personable with our city.

This song was her fourth single of the ''Rhythm Nation 1814'' album. This was the remix version by Shep Pettibone for the released in single. The album version was not so much different to the single version, because the single just adding more horn then the album version. But i always prefer this version, more dynamic to the album version. This song was a another top 5 in Billboard Hot 100, reaching n.4 in june 1990.
''Rhythm Nation 1814'' was the first album of history to produced n.1 singles in a same album in three consecutives years (''Miss You Much'' in 1989, ''Escapade'' and ''Black Cat'' in 1990 and ''Love Will Never Do (Without You)'' in 1991). This album was the masterpiece of excellence, no skip at all and so much incredible. A strong collection of 12 songs.

It was the first album to have charting singles in three consecutive years starting with miss you much. Which she repeated with her next album Janet. Hey Empress Fun Fact: Bet you didnt know that Cab Calloway is the father of Janet Dubois who played Janets mother in the "Control" video ☝😌and she played Janet's adopted mother in Good Times & Janet Played penny...and also good catch on the similarities on this video and Janet's When i Think of you video...act the beginning of that video partly the same dance routine the guys in zoot suits on the bench was in that video as well..and yes this video is from the Rhythm Nation Album and Era and there is a 2nd alternative version featuring late rapper Heavy D....I love Janet pays homage to dancers from the 50's that her & Michael watched and admired...One thing i admire about the Jacksons they use similar styles in their videos this dress style in this video mimics Mj Smooth Criminal
Mj song Dirty Diana..mimics Janets Black Cat...and the theater scene in MJ's Thriller and Beat it.. is like Janet's Nasty Video....I JUST LUV 😍THE JACKSONS!!!....ALL OF THEM..MUSIC ROYALTY ..and that includes latoya & Rebbie jackson too i notice latoya style Doja Cat bit from that and the Rebbie Centerpede video Missy Elliot kinda bit from that whith her song throw it back....Again The Jacksons are LENGENDS..Thats Why the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson & Janet are All ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAMERS..DAM NEAR THE WHOLE FAMILY...SIBLING GOALS!!!!

That was Janet vogueing before Cyd Cisreese stepped out onto the sidewalk. Or it looked like it to me. And yes, that guy in the crowd was vogueing too.
Yes, I think there was a retro trend in the late 80s and early 90s for the 30s/40s eras. Look at Madonna's Vogue music video and Dick Tracy movie.
