The one product that has really helped my PIH has been the Selfless by Hyram Retinol and Rainbow Algae serum. What drew me to this product was that it has retinol and tranexamic acid formulated together, and I was very curious in using both to help fade my dark spots. My skin also loves niacinamide so I always love to have that in whatever moisturizer I'm using, I really do love to have an minimal routine and not a fan of layering multiple serums. Multipurpose products are a win for me!

YES! Please do a dedicated video on melasma. Nothing has helped with my melasma of 5 years now 😫 I've used all these ingredients. I wear mineral SPF daily. I noticed that every time I reapply it makes melasma less visible but as soon as you wash it off you see it all. Heat makes mine worse. In the summer it is impossible to keep it from getting darker. But I'm still not giving up on it. I'm always learning new things.

I deal with really bad PIH on my cheeks. I was looking for an effective, but pregnancy safe product (not pregnant, but thinking about trying for one more baby.) I've been using the Naturium Azelaic Acid 10% & really been liking it. I haven't even finished the first bottle & can notice a difference; albeit small, but I see it & I love that it's a slightly thicker texture so I can really focus it on my problem areas. Suffered from hyperpigmentation my entire life. Between 2006-2012, I did every medical grade chemical peels at a plastic surgeon’s office because I was told laser was a no no for my brown skin. It left me with hypersensitive, flaky skin for years but didn’t budge the hyperpigmentation. Fast forward to 2020. I knew lasers had become very sophisticated and it was a matter of finding the right provider. I was lucky to find an excellent dermatologist here in Boston who specializes in my skin type. 1 pico toning, several targeted sessions on my sunspots and a final overall fraxel laser later, I have NO sunspots, NO moles. I am so fucking happy, I am commenting under CZcams videos and basically screaming to the world that a cure exists!! No amount of peels, skincare serums will ever get rid of hyperpigmentation in the deeper layers of the skin. Serums and peels just cannot penetrate that deep. Bottom line, please see a good dermatologist and identify the right laser for your skin. It will be an upfront cost but it WILL get rid of your hyperpigmentation. 2 years on, my skin is still glowing. It is not sensitive or compromised as it was with the chemical peels. Best money I ever spent

Yay! I’m SO happy for you and really happy that you mentioned the added value that in-office procedures can bring to the table. I hope that this helps someone. I have had pregnancy related melasma for years now. It didn’t completely go away, even tho chemical peels (I love the Perfect Peel highly recommend a series of those) and PRP/microneedling (2 sessions) and Morpheus have all really helped. It’s mostly gone except for splotches on the right and left side of my upper neck, little bits on the jawline and a tiny bit on the forehead. I have started using Photozyme MD’s C-E-ferulic serum and it’s really awesome. It’s only of the only vit C serums I can tolerate- even tho I have really tough oily skin vit C tends to bother me for some reason. It’s 15% vit C, but the unique thing about this serum is it also has 3 DNA repairing enzymes. I’d go as far as to say there isn’t a more scientifically advanced C serum out there. They also have DNA repair enzyme serums with just the repair enzymes, but I love the vit C serum. It’s very much like water and you only need a small amount. I’m glad I found it. You cannot use retinoids with it, so I alternate between this and Altreno (rx .05% tretinoin with collagen, hyaluronic acid and glycerin- also would recommend this one).

Would love a video on melasma because although most of the tips on hyperpigmentation removal overlap with melasma, melasma is definitely a little bugger that requires you to take it up a notch to remove as much as you can AND maintain (the latter of which I failed at previously because I did not know I had to continuously suppress tryrosinase even after clearing the melasma patches). Kojie san soap is pretty big in Southeast Asia, they use this soap to lighten their skin due to certain beauty standards, and effective, the only disadvantage with this soap is It can burn or tan the skin easily if you are under the sun even with decent sun protection. I tend to avoid this during the summer season since this can burn my skin fast.

@@bsimple aww, you can do it! You most likely won't see changes right away, but with time, you'll be glad you stuck with it. Thanks to tret, I don't need an exfoliating serum anymore. So, that's one less product in my routine!

@@kendallstark4302 So sweet of you for the encouragement! I was on tret before as well but I didn't see much change and got discouraged, having dry skin with dark spots ...the results are not quick...I have also not combined it with a Vit C in my routine and so i am starting to think that is what perhaps I need to do as well... I am definitely feeling encouraged again, thank you!😊

FYI: I have melasma on my arms, & neck & a little on my cheeks.
    1. Sunblock SPF 50 (I reapy) doesn't cut it. I found wearing protective clothing does.
    2. Because tinted SPF is better, but I don't want to get it on my clothing from my forearms, I apply tinted 1st, then colorless sunscreen.

I love your videos!! Thank you so much for making time to make this kind of videos !! 🤗🤗🤗💖💖💖 I am struggling with hyperpigmentation, it is so annoying!!!
I would like to ask about a video that would like to see and i think a lot of people aslo. Can you make a video showing everytime how yoi reapply during the day ? Especially when you are for many hours outside! And with make up!! Because i know that every dermatologist say that you need to reapply every 2 to 4 hours but i have never seen any kind of video like that ! So please can you show us how you reapply your sunscreen during the day and wearing makeup? Pretty please 🥺🤗💖💖💖💖

I can only use Korean or Japanese sunscreens for reapplying and they go on beautiful. What I do is use a damp beauty blender and dip it into the product on my hand and gently go over the skin with makeup. When I’m wearing makeup specifically I use nivea sun gel 50++++ it goes on like a serum and doesn’t disrupt my makeup at all. It’s about 13$ on Amazon and comes in a 2.8 Oz bottle. It is a Japanese sunscreen for the face and is so cosmetically elegant no pilling no burning doesn’t hurt the eyes

I have dealt with PIH since my early teenage years and azalaic acid has worked the best for me in regards to the appearance of my skin. Tretinoin has been an absolute game changer. Within the first week of using my partner asked what I had changed in my skincare routine. I’m only 2 months into using however this is the best my skin has looked since childhood 🙌🏼

I’m curious if you are familiar with the Algenist blue algae vitamin c dark spot peel? I’ve been using it, recommended by another Derm and I really like it. I have melasma that just won’t quit. I use several products you listed and they help fade it and I did use hydroquinone for about 5 months that helped fade but still didn’t completely get rid of it.

I have very sensitive rosacea skin that definitely is dry and I’ve found that the Timeless 10% vitamin C has worked wonders on my skin (in combination with my other skincare). I have noticed a pretty significant difference with my redness and it has given my skin a nice glow. Very excited to see the long term results. Was too nervous to try the Stratia Night Shift retinol since the return policy with them isn’t the best but eagerly awaiting my Medik8 Crystal retinal level 1 since they have a 60 day return policy that makes me feel safer about my investment.

Thank you for all of this! I had a sun spot along my left lower jaw, and my dermatologist used liquid nitrogen to remove it. It blistered, and then the hyperpigmentation was gone. But in its place is a scar that is whiter than my skin. Is this common to do this? I’m now looking for a new dermatologist. Thank you though do these tips/products. I’m wondering if there is something I can do with this hypopigmentation scar.
