I hope movie theaters don't die. Watching giant monsters on a tiny TV by yourself is not the same as watching them on a big screen with other people having as much fun as you. One of my best movie theater experiences was seeing Pacific Rim in theater and the crowd going nuts when Otachi showed she could fly.

The whole we don't know how to build that technology anymore, is a very common misconception. Blueprints and documentation for the Saturn V. Rocket engines and the space capsules are stored at Marshall Space Flight Center, and the Federal Archives in East Point, Ga. One of the larger issues that we would run into with recreating the engines used in the '60s is that they were based on hardware that was commonly available and in use at the time, some of those systems are no longer produced today. So if we were to attempt to rebuild the rockets exactly we would have to be recreating outdated hardware. Not to mention the myriad of technological compatibility issues you'd run into trying to interface modern computer equipment with 60s and '70s era hardware.

Perth Australia; born and bred. I moved to NSW for nearly 8 years and even then I had to go through a mountain of paperwork to change things like addresses and licenses, etc. so just to move within your own country is bureaucratic. But I love my home in WA and will always come back here. My introverted a$$ loves the small city vibe and long country drives too much.

Economic historians have said that if you pay too much attention to the battles of WWII, you're losing focus. The industrial, logistical, resource, and manpower capacity of the Allies was so far beyond what the Axis could remotely put together that it would've taken so many staggering blunders on the Allied side to lose that it's borderline impossible to imagine. Once it was clear that the UK, USA, USSR, and China weren't going to surrender, the Axis lost the war.
WWI was somehow a close war. The Central Powers didn't definitively lose until a few months before the end. WWII was essentially decided by early 1943, if not sooner.

i watched episode 7 of this season of westworld and i thought it was such a good finale i didnt bother to check if there was another episode until someone told me about it a few days ago lol
The fall of Valyria was a lot more than just a volcanic eruption. There were fourteen volcanoes called the Fourteen Flames that all erupted at once literally tearing an entire peninsula apart. It's not like there was some cataclysm that brought down the government of Valyria, it was completely and totally destroyed. The only people that lived were people who were lucky enough to be away on diplomatic missions when The Doom happened and the Targaryens who left earlier because of a prophetic dream.

Examples:

If that whole thing became successful, it's only a matter of time before you get return from that investment.
On the other hand if nobody watches, it's a huge waste of money, but there is ALWAYS a market for anger

We were loaning and selling planes and pilots plus we had more than plenty for all of our own needs. We still have more jets than we actually need.

I agree. The people are cool and there's always interesting stories. I really don't understand people who seemingly enjoy podcasts but skip the episode because they don't like someone being featured, or they skip around because they don't care about some of the topics. I love learning things I didn't know about and enjoy the whole thing. These are always great.
I don’t know what it is but I have consistently kept up with it in years, but every few months I decide to watch a new episode and then I have to watch at least a couple of the ones before it. They have been very entertaining recently.

For me, movies at a theater was losing its appeal due to rude persons that when the pandemic occurred, I was ready for the transition to new movies as a same day home rental. I am not social, so movies don't have to be a group thing. And I was so happy to put my money into a better larger screen tv, making an entertainment room that also was a gaming room too. And the food and pausing of the entertainment is under my control

Gus talking about diversity in game of thrones makes me think about how I feel about it. I am personally fine with either a diverse cast or a not so diverse one. Just so long as it matches what is reasonable for the world. In game of thrones the continent is pretty ethnically similar.
Take the wheel of time though where the continent is very diverse and people actively move between the lands. So making the cast more diverse was perfectly fine for me. Too bad the show's writing was terrible.
