Rare footage of someone who actually understands dogs and is not just a self proclaimed dog lover. Great job.
If your dog never sees other people it doesn't matter, i guess if you take your dog to dinner parties or have your own dinner parties this is necessary.
@@pokemonfan2630 isolation is abuse. Yikes.
Dog Whisperer/Caesar Milan I think is his real name. Exactly the same technique.
They both do the literal exact same thing cause they are basing their experiences off of Dog Psychology.
I've done this with my latest two dogs and they are by far the best dogs I have ever had. So calm, polite, respectful and happy to just be there.
@@salt-emoji Oh please get over yourself
@@cokeweasel1064 Why ? Isolating your dog can apparantly cause problems.
My 15 week golden thinks any sort of correction is play and proceeds to bite down harder
My 12 week old xl bully doesn’t listen too! Its becoming a nuisance
I’m glad My puppy isn’t the only one 😅
@@MAFFIOSOGOTTI my xl bully is the same. Have you found anything that work?
Same 😭😭
Same!! This doesn't work for me, and I'm at my wits end 😒
I have been using thisas a handy reference book czcams.com/users/postUgkxGQVgV21bQ7B9b9duQ1ByImyT9xHbjOKq . I read through the book and enjoyed the little glimpses of examples. I love that this author believes in rescue dogs. The tips and training has been invaluable and gave me moments of.... "how simple why didn't i think of it" so it's been a great tool. Thank you!
Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book czcams.com/users/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.
I had to watch this video twice, I was too busy looking at how cute those puppies are to absorb it
Do you know what breed it is?
@@jarlbalgruuf8375 They look like my little boy. Portuguese Water dog 😊
I'm a professional dog trainer from New Hampshire U.S.A. This is great advice and what I also suggest for my clients. I sometimes either show them a video of a mom dog disciplining her puppies, or ask them to watch a video when they have time to do so. Thank you for your videos, Will. They are great!
Can you please do a video paula mears it would mean alot
new hampshire #1
I did that to my Belgian malinois and he came back even harder 😂
@@Joserambo9940 Sometimes that can happen. It could be that you were using the wrong energy, or that a different method was needed. There are several methods to stop puppy biting.
@@Joserambo9940I have a Mal/GS mix and, yeah, he loves a good fight, comes back even harder. You said it right.
I bite him back
I did it too 😅
Same here 😅
Omg!! I’ve just done this with my puppy and it worked! I tried the active method and low and behold she gets it! Took 3 attempts within about a minute and now she’s stopped nipping and biting during playtime. Later in the day we played again and she forgot herself a couple of times but just the noise was enough to remind her not to bite! You absolute legend!!! Thank you for this great tip! ... now on to perfecting the crate training!
It’s only been a day but so far this is really working with my 9 week old golden retriever puppy. Thank you!
The active technique is very effective and has stopped the biting of a 12-week-old labrador almost in its tracks. It is not painful but a correction that the puppy seems to instinctively understand. I have had dogs for many years and only wish I had this information earlier. Will talks through the problem and explains the techniques clearly. A really useful video.
Yesterday my nine week old puppy (2 whole pounds!) was making mincemeat of my fingers as I yelped and made my hand go limp. More and more and more nipping. This morning I looked for this video, now that the reality of new puppy has set in at the one week mark, watched several times, had my husband watch it and we both practiced hissing like a couple of idiots. He coaxed me on improving my hissing, we changed our approach-and I’ve had a total of three isolated nips. THANK YOU!!! You are brilliant.
So so glad there are canine trainers like yourself. Bless you and thank you
This has been the best and most informative video I've seen to help with puppy biting! I've watched several videos so far and yours has been the best at helping us! We just got a 9 week old golden retriever puppy. Thank you for this video!!!
Your method is way better than those passive ways..I didn’t had to courage before but after seeing ur methods I’m confident now
Just brought home a mini bernedoodle at 8 weeks old. He must have thought i was one of his litter mates😅 as he was continually biting me. Tried all kinds of corrections, but this one did the trick!🎉 I'm not sure about the psychology of this, but it worked within 15 minutes. Thank you and my body parts, thank you😊
Excellent video! At least I think so. I'm going to try it out. We are taking a puppy training course right now, and so far our puppy is responding very well, but it focuses entirely on "ignore and reward". That seems to work for anything we want to encourage, like retrieval or sitting or even obstacles, but doesn't seem to work great for stopping unwanted behavior. Whereas the older dog is not afraid to use corrections, and so far seems to be doing a better job training the puppy than we are. But he trains the puppy to his own ends, not necessarily ours.
Got our border collie x lab puppy yesterday. She is 10 weeks old and just found these videos! Really hoping we can get a lot out of these! Very excited to train my little lady ❤️
Thank you so much! The first step was what I was missing and now she is within minutes already listening way better!
I tried this on my two-month pom, and it worked wonders. Thank you so much!! ❤
Great video Will, and sound advice as usual.
Your method was so good. I have a bichon frise and was able to significantly reduce the biting. Thank you!!
Wonderful tutorial, stumbled into it by chance and subscribed immediately. I don't have a dog yet but I will soon be getting a curly coated retriever. I am looking forward to it so much ❤🥰
Couldn't get our 4 month old puppy to stop bitting. Watched your short video and practiced it. Thank you so much!! What a relief.
I have tried this , which did not work, also tried tapping his nose sharply, he interoperates this as a challenge and snaps even more viscously at me very often drawing blood from my fingers, or face. He is a 10 week Border Collie, and apart from the biting, he is a perfect dog, and I am determined to master him, which is what brought me to this video. Thanks for sharing.
Invaluable advice, mate.
Cheers!
This man is 100% SPOT ON!
I get my puppy tomorrow so I definitely be doing this when needed. Thank you
Worked almost immediately for my puppy! Thank you my friend! 🙏🏻😎👍🏻
Great advice 👍🏻 thank you 😊
Wow this has helped me alot I have a 8 week old Labrador collie cross and she nips alot and she don't care where she nips either this method has been helping like a trooper thank you
Love the simple manner in which you explained how to address puppy biting. Thank you.
I was at my absolute wits end yesterday with my Parson Russell Terrior puppy who was biting, snapping and being generally unruly. I really thought I had made a mistake getting her .
After watching your vids about biting, walking on a leash, sit and down, I have a completely different pup today. Thank you so much for making this available in such an easy way to understand.
I need my puppy to do this becuase I feel the same started thinking If I made a mistake 😩😭
Great advice!! I just got a retriever pup who started nibbling, this seems to work!
Brilliant! Works instantly! Thanks so much!
Brilliant. Thank you, Will.
So good!! Thank you!!!!❤
your method works fantastically. have been trying other methodologies and yours is really effective. within 15mins and my pup knows what's ok and what's not, she's so much calmer now. thank you very much, you are God sent
Thank you my daughter and I love playing with our pup but his biting was getting out of control today we had a break through using your method definitely works
This worked like magic on our 2 month old Chihuahua. She is also more well behaved in general. Thanks for the amazing lesson.
What do you do if the puppy thinks the correction is a fun game and can’t seem to be redirected to a toy?
Love your videos clear, quick and concise
This makes sense. My pup is sleeping now, but I'm definitely going to try this. Thank you so much 🙌
This worked very well after one week of puppy bites from our 8 week old GSD. Now I just make the ‘sound’ of active correction and she instantly stops. I realized that our cats have made a similar sound of warning to the puppy this whole week to train her to stay a few feet back from them. Humans also have a learning curve! 😂
Fantastic video! Exactly what I needed!
We use stay, a whistle and no clicker in our trainingn of our 14 month old Border Collie. It works so well. Thank you for this video, it confirms we are doing it right for our boy.
So simple thank you!
Thanks brother, we appreciated this video
Can you do a video about how to go about changing rules if the need arises? Obviously consistency is so important for a dog but sometimes commands need to be changed (in our case we accidentally taught the same command for 2 different actions, so we needed to work to change one of them), or rules need to change (i.e. we moved and no longer have a fenced backyard so we had to change some of the outdoor rules for safety reasons), or other things that require changes to the existing rules. What's the best way to go about changing rules when it's necessary?
Will. You are sooo helpfull, please keep this channel going. 🐾👌
Hello Gail how are you doing today
Thank you for this.
Ok I've tried this and reinforced this over and over. My gosh it works!! I have a 9 week old blue nose pitbull. His puppy bites where driving me crazy!! Thank you!
Great advice thanks
I just got a 3 year old dog 4 days ago that likes to chew on my hands when we play. Im gonna give this a try and hope it works on adult dogs as well. So far i have been doing the correction part so now im gonna implement one of her toys as a redirection. Before this dog i had an American bulldog for 11 years and i have been watching other peoples dogs for a long time. But if there is one thing i have learned when it comes to dogs it is there is always a new challenge around the corner.
Thankyou so much!! ❤ you have such awesome vibes
Love the content!!! I have a 12 week chocolate lab and I hope this can be addressed we don’t want her to nip at us or our faces!
I was doing the squealing method with my 10 week old aussie and it wasnt working. Now that i know about active correction i can see him really understanding that biting humans is not okay and will go running to his toys. that correct, redirect, reinforce was very helpful thank you Will!
Did it work with your aussie?
We're right here with our 9wk Aussie. She's responded much more positively to this approach than the yips
What kind of sorcery is this! Love your video! Can’t wait to go through the rest of your content!
instant subscription. thanks for your help
My new dog does this but like in a playful way. thank you for this video. i learned alot .
Hi I tried it,it fired her right up,bites so hard, love her she has a lovely personality when she's calm
Those are precious puppies!
my german shepherd (high drive breed) has been a absolute NUISANCE with biting. he’s only 10 weeks and has left me with so many dog bite marks. i’m going to use this training on him today. i’ll edit it telling you how it went!
Thanks this such a good training video. My puppy has a bite problem
Iove your video… the black puppy is exactly like mine!!! And your method worked!!!! Thank you❤️🙏🏽
Thx this helped a lot
Love the gentle correction technique ... whacks on the snoot or rear are uncalled for and ineffective. Nicely done.
Doesn’t always work, I do that same thing and they don’t let go
Makes perfect sense ......thanks 👍
Wow you are amazing. I always say people should doa course before they can have a puppy
Thanks Will!
Holy s, I’m impressed. Just tried this sound and gesture with my puppy and after many battles seems she gets it
Definitely about to start today
Yeah, tapping my puppy will make her think it’s a game and become more excited. I tried the yelling no with a loud sound that shocks her, and ignore her right after by looking away but staying in her area and it personally worked in terms of her not biting my feet.
Man you're videos rock!! Cheers🎉
Thank you so much it’s been a long road losing people I care about and I just got myself a nine week mini golden doodle I’m doing the best I can and she is wonderful but I don’t want her to bite people and risk having an incident. Thank you so much for the steps.
Will love the channel! I have a 15 month old German wired hair pointer that has started food aggression any pointers
Tried thjs yesterday and today morning, had the problem that my 11 week old cavapoo thought that the correction was just more play... or just got annoyed by it!
Today in the afternoon tried clapping once strongly when she bit and that succeeded in startling her.
Gave her toys to chew, and we did the whole thing 3 or 4 times more.
By the time I walked away, she walked after me and a couple of times came close to nipping my ankles but didn't. When I stopped, she lied down and chopped at my toes, nose touched them but didn't bite. So I think I'll stick to clapping for startling, the rest seems to be applicable from this technique.
Cool, thanks Ill give this a try.
Well I tried it right away and it worked thanks.
Thank yoy we will try this as of today xx
You are saving my life 😭 my 3 month old has given me decorative teeth marks since I got her despite me trying the “close the mouth” or “press on their tongue” methods. Literally half a second after doing this she stopped biting, which she never does, so thank you!
My 8 week old has one heck of a bite haha. Definitely trying this.
Thank you so much for your training ideas. Id really like to talk to you about a serious problem We are having with our older dog and a new puppy we have. Thanks
We've had our rescue pup for a few weeks & nothing was working - any time I'd try to pet him he'd bite (playfully, but it still hurt!) - i tried this today & he literally hasn't bitten me the rest of the day. I still have marks on my hand from his bites this morning! I'm truly amazed!
My 5 month old Goldendoodle continues to mouth after correction and redirection in fact gets more excited.
We have the same problem.
@Ecol Cre not easy to do when we both work been training the best we can with the time we have
@Ecol Cre that’s not necessarily true, their entire puppy stage is a learning experience and a lot of puppies don’t stop teething later on in their puppy years. It takes time
Greta video again King Will. 👍🏼 Puppies have brand new teeth. People don’t realize that they’re really quite sharp, lol. They actually hurt a grown man’s fingers (believe me 😂). And also people don’t think that one day those teeth will be full sized, and if not controlled now, they’ll really hurt someone one day. Happy subscriber and dog-guy. 🇨🇦
We have a 9 week old cavapoo. 1st week he was biting every day thinking it's a game. Followed the advice on this video and amazing. He's like a different puppy now. Fantastic video. Subscribed to this channel now 👍
Thank you!
Thank you . I pick up my new pup today
Thanks again for another great vid Will, can I ask is that puppy in that VW T-Roc advert, looks just like her....
Wow good quick lesson
Ive scene over a dozen pups (showline labs) that were taught with the methods of saying 'hey!' or 'ouch' then acting more distant for a few seconds. This seems to have worked but it might not with all kinds of dogs. Perhaps a herding breed might not take it the same way. I absolutely agree that positive feedback is an easy to overlook aspect of this process though.
I think squeling has its advantage if the dog considers it to be aversive enough. Sometimes a loud noise is all it take. However, I do believe you have to follow up and redirect the puppy with a toy or something else it can chew on.
Your methods for how to stop pulling and walk with a loose lead worked miricales for my 4MO Amstaff! Just purchased your puppy book and we are trying to work on bitting now. We adopted him just 1 week ago and the progress with the advice in your videos is amazing! He does tend to get more riled up with both active and passive correction but I suspect our application of the technique or the redirection timming may be off. Thank you for all the advice and help oyu offer!
thank you!
I did ALL this and it's amazingly working, I achieved success. Now my son eat it's veggies. Thank you Cesar. 😊
When it said instantly .... title , meant , instantly . I'm not only grateful but can't wait to take my pup back to my ma and sisters home now after this help . Man . Can't say thank you enough for this . 🐾
Not working for me
As someone who loves dogs and has been a lifetime puppy and dog owner, I appreciate the tips! I actually wrote a book called "Puppy Training: How to Housebreak your Puppy in as Little as 7 Days", and in my book, I discuss some of the same pointers (no pun intended), mentioned here. But seeing is believing!! Thanks for the OUTSTANDING content, and keep up the great work!!! 😎😎😊😊👍👍😃😃😃😃👍👍😊😊
Thank you so much
Exactly what I need for our puppy. Thanks. 😅
Them puppies are so adorable
