I think that recently the studio behind rF2 released an update, that allows you to race with unowned content, of course owning the car you drive but you should no longer need to have all the cars bought. The track you need. I have not tried that yet but it could be worth looking into
Hey there. Yes that is correct, you need to have the content at least installed now but not purchased anymore, this is correct!
Remember that if you're on a budget, you can wait for DLC sale to come up. 2022 content may or may not get discounted, but Formula Pro, Track Pack, Endurance Pack, and GT3 Pack can go on sale. RF2 usually has DLC pack discounts on Steam sales (not always!) that will make packs be a really good buy. Especially now that LFM is around, do your research, wait for that moment, and go all in. If you're new I suggest sticking with the Rookie Alpine Cup while waiting for sale.

I own official DLC I'll never use, simply to support development of the simulation, but I'm more interested to know about the third party content I've seen you use. Obviously the Alpine A110 Cup, but more specifically which version of Road America or Road Atlanta for example? Hopefully rFactor 2 coming to LFM brings more subscribers to this channel.

Hi Michi, thank you for these guides ! They've been really useful, i'm currently thinking about switching to rf2 from iceRacing/ACC and was wondering which content i should buy (i wanted to buy the full content pack earlier this week, it was listed at 99€ apparently but when i rechecked today it was 199€ 😅, there was probably a discount that i missed/didn't pay attention to).
Btw, i was wondering, apart from the online races, where can i find online leagues in which i can race once i'll be used to the game ? Thank you again for these guides !

There was Spring Sale discounts i think. 100 € was a real bargain. 199 still is as i think the cheapest way to combine the packages is like 240 € but yeah of course 200€ is still hell lots of money!-

The thing i hate about rf2 dlcs is that you have to buy them all. I dont want all cars,i just want One or two. If it wasnt that,i would buy more rf2 DLC. Instead, i much rather pay for the ACC DLC i still dont have. Ill think about the dlcs on the november sale.
Hey nuno, I hear you on this one. Sadly I am very sure that this is down in the code of rFactor 2 itself and won't change in the future.
Yes, it might not be very user friendly, however, after all I think all prizes are within acceptable range, especially when you get your content in packs.
@@MichiHoyer I get that it is down to the code - but i bet that theire would be ways to pack the content in a way which makes more sense, and does not mean that we have to buy some content´s double. You could sort the track by FIA grade or by continent. Vehicles by class / serie, as it is already done. But some pack´s just don´t add up for me. I also think that they maybe could do an sort of rabat-thing for users who have over a certain amount of content already.

However, meanwhile they have fixed the code and just like iRacing you can use whatever content you have against content that you dont own :) Perfect
As Michi says if you want to race online and via LFM YOU NEED to buy the packs! I own all the DLC, I buy them all full price on release day and can say purchasing the packs is worth every penny! If you are a cheap skate sim racer, get over it and buy the packs that interest you most via the steam sales if you want to race them online. You have no doubt seen you tubers telling you how great the ffb is in RF2 and how great the LFM online races are, therefore you know you are getting value for money!
Thank you James for picking up on these. I think it will take a little more time with LFM on the rFactor 2 plattform but as you said, this will soon give us a lot of joy and a lot of reason to keep using the rFactor 2 content in its full DLC content variety
Dont forget, iRacing is £120 a year regardless (ish) in fee's to pay the game. 1 x $50 pack for gt3 cars is already fine with me to play a game i own and won't ever have to pay per month
Hey Boomer, yes that is of course an additional point. Many people forget this when complaining about the content prizes and then fact that you need to own it all when joining servers.
@@MichiHoyer I got RF2 in the sale (for £5 or something) and if i buy all DLC it's like £300? I think over the last year i've spent double that on iRacing. And it'll keep going up the more I play it. Loving RF2 lately!
@@boomerracing5785 awesome to hear that mate! Honestly I think (i dont know the exact exchangerates) but even including KartSim the full available DLC for Rf2 should be around 200-225 quid if even that much. So even better news

Hey Michi, can you please make a tutorial about how to pitstop 🙂 it's so frustrating in rf2. I tried my first race and I did a jumpstart, I got a drive through penalty. Ok, so next round I went to the pits .. stoped and und wenn the refueling started? What why, I didn't press Pit request? I waited 20 sec and Crew chief told me go go go. Next drive through penalty..what? The first penalty was still there I just got 20 liters. I don't get it. Quit the race 😤
dubtube on a drive through penalty you are not allowed to pit :) so you just drive through pits and it clears. if you stop and get refueled it does not clear.
But yeah generally speaking i note this down to also do it :)
@@MichiHoyer yeah sure you are right a drive through means don't stop. But when I entered the pit lane I saw the red markings showing me where to stop. And before I didn't push the button 'request pitstop". So it doesn't make sense for me to enter the pit lane and to see the sign where stop, confusion deluxe. But in would be great if you good do a tutorial about it. A could find anything. Also about how to use pitstop presets 🤷 thanks

The pitcrew will serve you anytime you enter the pit´s, regardles if you request the pit stop or not. But if you come into the pitlane whitout notifieng the crew beforehand, ore did not yet receive the message "crew is ready for pitstop" the stop will be slower.
@@dubtube6691 Yeah I hear you that this is very confusing. However, I believe its okay to just focus a bit on what you need to do. IMO if you know you have a drive through but then stop at your garage to get serviced... well then I guess there is some missunderstanding on what a drive through penalty means :) (not pointing fingers at you of couse, but i mean generally speaking)
@@ukrje Yeah this is true. As soon as you enter pitlane your crew will be ready to pick you up
Unfortunately, until LFM adds USA evening friendly time slots, I wouldn't even consider purchasing DCL content for RF2. And even if they did, I still wouldn't purchase DCL content unless LFM had an open wheel option for RF2. Seriously, how many online GT/Sedan options does sim racing need. :P
Meanwhile, they added more timeslots for American people.

@@thathandyguy Have you tried loading up the default profile of your wheel for that sim. Mostly these presets are very good

If i want the best out of GT3 and 911 cup series which dlc should i get? I already have the gt3 pack and everything 2022 pack what else am i missing?
Well I guess you only need some more tracks. You should have the Nürburgring Nordschleife for enjoying some LFM NLS there. Other than that, check out what content the rFactor 2 Competition System needs :)
@Michi Hoyer it seems like i need some tracks and i picked up the endurance pack but still lacking tracks. Ended up running the BTCC and im thoroughly enjoying it
@@fuqua626 i think for tracks the reiza bundle and tracks like daytona, sebring Le mans and bahrain are a good b choice

Yes always worth to be mentioned for sure. However in this tutorial we were all about the paid DLC content that's worth to have.

an incredibly overpriced DLCs made me uninstall this game after 10 minutes of playing. 40 something euros for a gt3 pack is just ridiculous let's be real here, I got every DLC for AC for considerably less money...
You might get all DLC for ACC for less money, and if you are just into Gt3s only then probably ACC is the right call, but if you want to enjoy the full load of cars then rFactor 2 will be your cheapest way to go :)
You're so right. The pricing model in the game is clownshow tier.

@@MichiHoyer More just the fact that you can potentially buy duplicates. It would be nice if it could calculate a discount based on what you do and don't have already. Really fun game though. I will almost certainly get a few car packs at some point.
