I was a little worried when you said you were going to clear-coat the chain to keep it rust free. But then you did the outro closeup and it has just the *right* amount of rust on it!

Also, please keep in mind that you are not an actual deity of combat. PLEASE do a lot of practice with dummy weights on the chains before attaching the swords. I'd like to keep calling you Jairus and not have to start calling you Stumpy.

On the weight: You could buy the smaller chain to use as the connection from the bracers to the swords. Your hand will be on that connection so it wouldn't be as noticeable, you'd use less of the lighter chain, and it would be easier to swing.

Please please don't hurt yourself by wrapping a blade around your leg. And at that scale I think it will be too heavy to swing even in Aluminum.
Make.Test.Battle as dangerous as it sounds you’d have to be very strong and heavy to get that kind velocity. Think rope dart and meteor hammer they have to put effort to get it to dangerous velocities and even then it loses energy fast.

I love the detail and consideration involved in the build. Safety measures always mentioned. I am learning as well and being entertained. Awesome and worth the time taken to watch.
A very dangerous suggestion. Could you stuff that fire foam looking things from fire juggling equipment into the spaces in the links of the chain and then of course, set them on fire. But no crazy motions. Just maybe a 360 twirl in slow motion. Nothing dangerous.

There are zinc based brazing alloys that work with both steel and aluminum. Plenty strong, and far cheaper than silver solder.
I’m gonna look it up and see what I can find. It’s been really hard to find info on this since sticking aluminum to steel is not common. Thanks for the info!!
My recommendation for swinging the chains is to start with your hands on the handles of the blades, and then as you swing, let the chain slide in your hand so you're more throwing it than swinging it. I think you'll have more control that way, and should improve accuracy while decreasing risk factor. it'll also look more kile the video games, even though there's no way to replicate the return of the blades

The amount of science I’m learning from two dudes with a camera and a bucket of muriatic acid is surprising.
You need more subscribers and recognition, this may not be exactly scientific but it’s scientific enough to prove your point which is the important part.
In my personal experience with "soft-weapons" those definitely can be lifted but if you haven't figured out by now you're going to get tired easily unless you're buff as hek. It being as long as it is; it will be a lot harder to control but at the same time as long as you're doing side swings you should be alright I think. I know this is the "JARIUS OF ALL CHANNEL" but I do advise you construct a cheap and easy trainer (paracord, 2 rubber erasers, and ductape the two erasers to one end of the string). The chain-weapons lighter than what your building can easily crush or crack bones. Let's not even get into what would happen if you hit your eye. The main idea when practicing is vertical circles. And to change sides without changing hands you simply do a figure-eight which keeps it spinning without hitting you from the sudden change in momentum. Loving the project, can't wait to see Kratos blades in all their glory!

Instead of a clear coat which will wear off over time i would recommend you allow the chains to slightly rust then brush them with something like rust mort. This changes the Iron oxide to calcium carbonate, giving you a black finish that is near rust proof and acts as a primer. Pluss it looks really cool. Almost like a cast iron type of look.
of course this would work for all steal/iron you may use in a project.

Speaking as a welding engineer, it is actually possible to "Weld" Aluminum to Steel. The most common practice to "Weld" them together is with a Fronius Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) Machine. It essentially welds to the aluminum and brazes to the steel. It is a functional joint. The other options to join Aluminum to Steel is Laser welding or Electron Beam Welding. Just though that this is information that someone might care about.

WHO WANTS TO SEE SWORDS ACTUALLY FLY? I vote that he should make a second version that is ultra light weight like all made out of foam and then you can have drones built in to it and have 2 friends help you fly your swords. lol that is a funny phrase, "have your friends help you fly your swords!" the hardest part is going to be painting it realistically so you might need to look into punished props for help finding the right foams and paints and even cooler would be to embed an actual blade in foam ones maybe you can even buy strips of razor that are long. I know they make ones that are 6 in long but if you can't find or make a longer one then you can make a Macuahuitl style sword but with the razors all lined up looking like a single blade. hell you could even make it a collaboration and have some one else make you the foam stuff of put the flying things inside. maybe team up with Flite Test? if not then Peter Sripol. He will be able to get it to fly for sure!

I really think you should have done the chains from Aluminium. Would've made the handling a bit easier and lowered your chances of injury or pulling something. Remember you're a blacksmith, not a War God 🤣🤣

You could of had a custom chain made with links holding them together it would of been easier but less realistic....good job making science fun!!!! Subbed!!!!

Are you going to wrap the part of the chain that you hold while swing to help prevent the chain from pinching your hands when you stop swinging them?
We also have to consider that Kratos is a demigod, and seeing as how he showed his strength in the past there is a chance that these would be like nothing to him
I love how he goes through such safety precautions to justify the hydrochloric acid, but he is just using tidy cat litter containers to hold this dangerous substance.
The acid can not eat through plastic, but it can eat metal rocks glass etc
You should make it lightweight. That could be awesome.

You might need to make the blades out of HDPE or something else light enough. Otherwise the blade would be unstoppable and deflections are unpredictable

The blades are going to spin wild as soon as that chain starts twisting or as soon as you hit something. Maybe look up "meteor hammer" or "rope dart" and practice a little so you dont ricochet a blade of chaos into your guts. We'd be sad if you went away.
