    Louis, you influenced me to start my first non-freelance business and not back out on it, like I have so many ideas. I'm a creative person, so I tend to have many ideas and never actually follow through with them to their max potential because they get replaced by newer, "better" ideas. But your videos have helped me focus efforts and actually focus fire on a single idea and put something out in the world. Thank you

    Respect to you Louis. I admire your wonderfulle work. Electronic is more logic and deduction than hand working. I wish to be able to think as quick as you do but at least i do understand your logic because i'm a technician too. I fix amplifiers, ps3, ps4, all kinds of electronic boards, laptop and more. I can't be as fast as you thinking cause i'm 62 now but i use to be when i was your age. For me you're more than a good technician. You are very competent and yes, you are a good guy but take my advise: Don't be too good with people cause i've learn a lot about people and they will take advantage of you...........most of them. Keep up your good work. Excuise my english. It's my second language. Take care men.

    Oh, I remember this problem from one of your videos :D
    They could have fixed the problem of destroying the chip by using bigger resistors than 10 ohm (eg 1k) :/
    These 2 resistors are supposed to protect the input of driver XD
    Of course by using bigger resistor the filter capacitor between the resistors needs to be lowered or the current protection response will be 100x slower (in case of 10-1k resistor chamge).

    Hi Louis and guys, I'm not sure if i can post about this here but I have an issue with my Mid 2012 Macbook Pro (A1286) that i cannot seem to fix.
    The Macbook does not power on from the power button with the charger or without, however when i disconnect the battery and then plug in the charger, the Macbook starts automatically without the power button.
    I have tried disconnecting all hardware besides the DC board and the fans from the motherboard to see if its a hardware or cable issue but the problem persists.
    This is my daily work laptop so i cannot afford for it to sit at a technician for days.
    Is there any solution to this problem i could do myself ?

    No Light on charger/No power A1398 Mid 2012 - Early 2013 15" Macbook Pro Retina 820-3332
    PP_3V42 = 3.42V
    PPBUS_G3HOT = 4.00V
    Visual inspection shows current sense resistors R7021/R7022 have burnt out.
    U7000 (Part # ISL6259) the charge controller chip has failed, and is shorted to ground. This is why R7021/7022 burnt out.
    Replace U7000/R7021/R7022
    Measure current sense resistors, now 20 ohms as it should be.
    Power up.
    Measure 18V on CHGR_IN, on components C7005 and R7005
    Measure PPBUS_G3H, now 18.59V. This is good and means the SMC is on and working. If PPBUS_G3H was 18.23V that means the SMC is not on.
    Re-examine the one wire circuit.
    Measure ADAPTER_SENSE on pin 5 of U6900, measures 0.735V, if DCIN board is good this should be 3V.
    Measure SYS_ONEWIRE on pin 4 of U6900, measures 0.787V, if DCIN board is good this should be ~3V.
    Replace DCIN board.
    Both ADAPTER_SENSE and SYS_ONEWIRE measure correctly now, DCIN board was bad.
    Machine is now fixed.
    ALL of this damage was cause by a bad charger!
    Because this is a Mid 2012 - Early 2013 machine, reflow U8900 so it doesn't come back in a week crashing.

    Everyone has those "am I really this dumb?" Moments, I suppose it's not comparable because of your voice, but recently I found out the motherboard of my pc was faulty from factory, and I should have noticed that since day one, not a year in, now I can't use my desktop until the rma process is complete, also I found a failure in my monitor, and things like that, and I am really questioning my intelligence right now, I am an electronics engineer student, how I didn't noticed the evidence, the first thing i thought it was ram issues because one ram did work, but it was like, it worked once after putting it like 10 times, so it might be a problem with the connections of the motherboard to the ram.

    Hmm... may be right to repair is wrong after all. What if my laptop is found in a repair shop in Delaware containing compromising e-mails that I forgot to delete? A very likely scenario, isn't it? Law should protect citizens against their own errors, therefore better not try to have laptops repaired. Especially in Delaware. Buy new ones instead.

    Interesting that you think you're not intelligent Louis. I didn't get that vibe at all. You seem to have really strong philosophical / right brain / inductive reasoning type intelligence. Plus you're a master of board repair which seems quite logical / left brain / deductive reasoning. Seems like you're quite well rounded with your intelligence.
    Maybe it took you longer to learn it than to teach it because you had to blaze the trail through trial and error. I imagine reverse engineering all this electrical engineering stuff without Apple's cooperation and without being an electrical engineer was not an easy process.

    I was looking for eyes. You're not really a failure until you become a cosmic failure.

    Never can be more idiot than those who ruin the life of The genious we can all thank for our computer world : "They formed a new utility company, abandoning Tesla's company and leaving the inventor penniless. Tesla even lost control of the patents he had generated, since he had assigned them to the company in exchange for stock. He had to work at various electrical repair jobs and as a ditch digger for $2 per day. "
